Chapter 461
Jennifer said, โSanford said heโs coming back from Shaville for my wedding. He also said heโs bringing $330,000. He wants to use it as your bride price.โ
โI mean, he doesnโt care that youโve been married before, and heโs willing to give you $330,000. Thatโs honestly pretty rare. Heโs never done anything to hurt you, has he?โ
Teresa finally understood and retorted, โSo youโre just going to sell me off for $330,000?โ
Jennifer sighed. โIf I really wanted to sell you, Iโd have taken the money already. Iโm asking for your opinion, arenโt I? If youโre interested, we can talk about the price.โ
Teresa shot back, โWhat kind of โaskingโ is this? It looks to me like you canโt wait for me to marry Sanford so you can finally stop worrying about me.โ
Jennifer took a deep breath. โI told you, Iโm just trying to talk this through with you. Isnโt Sanford a good guy?โ
Teresa said, โHeโs so great. Then why donโt you marry him? Iโve told you a million times I donโt like him, and Iโve already cut him off. Why do you keep bringing him up?โ
Jennifer said, โJonathan already has a girlfriend; you know that. Heโs moving on with his life. Why canโt you do the same?โ
Jennifer glanced at the expensive bracelet on Teresaโs wrist and added, โOkay, sure, Sanford isnโt as rich as the guy who gave you that bracelet. But at least Sanfordโs mother is easy to get along with. Sheโs not like Irene, always making a scene.โ
โHaving a mother-in-law who doesnโt cause dramaโisnโt that for your own good? Besides, like mother, like son. Jonathan isโฆโ
Teresa couldnโt take it anymore. She snapped, โEnough! If youโre going to say that, then all the Lynns are no good. So why did you marry Donald? Why donโt you ever say Donaldโs a jerk?โ
Jennifer said, โJonathan is your ex. He has nothing to do with us now. I can say whatever I want about him. Donaldโs my husband; of course, Iโm on his side. Can you get the relationships straight?โ
Teresa said, โI know exactly where I stand. Let me say this one last time: thereโs no way Iโll ever marry Sanford, and Iโm not marrying anyone for money. If you dare take his money, Jennifer, may you get struck by lightning.โ With that, she turned and walked away.
Jennifer was stunned. She clutched her stomach in anger. She never thought Teresa would say something like that about her. Jennifer didnโt notice the tears in Teresaโs eyes, so she would never know how sad Teresa was. Jennifer sat down to rest. Her stomach ached from the stress. She sent Teresa a message:
[If you donโt agree, I wonโt take Sanfordโs money. Thatโs all I meant. But you always insist on misunderstanding me, always thinking Iโm out to get you. Seriously, ask yourself, have I ever said anything that wasnโt for your own good?]
[Iโll just chalk it up to you being immature today, throwing a tantrum. But youโre not a kid anymore; youโre almost thirty. Are you going to keep treating me like this every day? Is that how an adult acts?]
[Canโt you show me a little respect? Iโm your real sister, and you keep giving me attitude. Think about it. I donโt want to argue with you anymore.]
Just as Jennifer finished sending the message, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and picked up.
The other person said, โHello, is this Ms. Jennifer Nelson? You scheduled an abortion with us. When would you like to come in for your check-up next week?โ
