Chapter 461

Jennifer said, โ€œSanford said heโ€™s coming back from Shaville for my wedding. He also said heโ€™s bringing $330,000. He wants to use it as your bride price.โ€

โ€œI mean, he doesnโ€™t care that youโ€™ve been married before, and heโ€™s willing to give you $330,000. Thatโ€™s honestly pretty rare. Heโ€™s never done anything to hurt you, has he?โ€

Teresa finally understood and retorted, โ€œSo youโ€™re just going to sell me off for $330,000?โ€

Jennifer sighed. โ€œIf I really wanted to sell you, Iโ€™d have taken the money already. Iโ€™m asking for your opinion, arenโ€™t I? If youโ€™re interested, we can talk about the price.โ€

Teresa shot back, โ€œWhat kind of โ€˜askingโ€™ is this? It looks to me like you canโ€™t wait for me to marry Sanford so you can finally stop worrying about me.โ€

Jennifer took a deep breath. โ€œI told you, Iโ€™m just trying to talk this through with you. Isnโ€™t Sanford a good guy?โ€

Teresa said, โ€œHeโ€™s so great. Then why donโ€™t you marry him? Iโ€™ve told you a million times I donโ€™t like him, and Iโ€™ve already cut him off. Why do you keep bringing him up?โ€

Jennifer said, โ€œJonathan already has a girlfriend; you know that. Heโ€™s moving on with his life. Why canโ€™t you do the same?โ€

Jennifer glanced at the expensive bracelet on Teresaโ€™s wrist and added, โ€œOkay, sure, Sanford isnโ€™t as rich as the guy who gave you that bracelet. But at least Sanfordโ€™s mother is easy to get along with. Sheโ€™s not like Irene, always making a scene.โ€

โ€œHaving a mother-in-law who doesnโ€™t cause dramaโ€”isnโ€™t that for your own good? Besides, like mother, like son. Jonathan isโ€ฆโ€

Teresa couldnโ€™t take it anymore. She snapped, โ€œEnough! If youโ€™re going to say that, then all the Lynns are no good. So why did you marry Donald? Why donโ€™t you ever say Donaldโ€™s a jerk?โ€

Jennifer said, โ€œJonathan is your ex. He has nothing to do with us now. I can say whatever I want about him. Donaldโ€™s my husband; of course, Iโ€™m on his side. Can you get the relationships straight?โ€

Teresa said, โ€œI know exactly where I stand. Let me say this one last time: thereโ€™s no way Iโ€™ll ever marry Sanford, and Iโ€™m not marrying anyone for money. If you dare take his money, Jennifer, may you get struck by lightning.โ€ With that, she turned and walked away.

Jennifer was stunned. She clutched her stomach in anger. She never thought Teresa would say something like that about her. Jennifer didnโ€™t notice the tears in Teresaโ€™s eyes, so she would never know how sad Teresa was. Jennifer sat down to rest. Her stomach ached from the stress. She sent Teresa a message:

[If you donโ€™t agree, I wonโ€™t take Sanfordโ€™s money. Thatโ€™s all I meant. But you always insist on misunderstanding me, always thinking Iโ€™m out to get you. Seriously, ask yourself, have I ever said anything that wasnโ€™t for your own good?]

[Iโ€™ll just chalk it up to you being immature today, throwing a tantrum. But youโ€™re not a kid anymore; youโ€™re almost thirty. Are you going to keep treating me like this every day? Is that how an adult acts?]

[Canโ€™t you show me a little respect? Iโ€™m your real sister, and you keep giving me attitude. Think about it. I donโ€™t want to argue with you anymore.]

Just as Jennifer finished sending the message, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and picked up.

The other person said, โ€œHello, is this Ms. Jennifer Nelson? You scheduled an abortion with us. When would you like to come in for your check-up next week?โ€
