Chapter 746: I'm Sorry, I Can't
Naomi stared at her parents in despair. โMom and Dad, what do you think of me? Do you think Iโm a commodity to be sold?โ Compared to her greedy parents, Naomi felt like a fragile flower in the wind, arousing a protective instinct in others.
โNaomi, donโt you know we raised you? Itโs time you repaid us. Besides, didnโt you find this rich man yourself? Whatโs wrong with us wanting to meet him?โ
Naomi clenched her fists. She shifted slightly; her heels were already over the edge, causing those around to gasp. Unaware of the danger, her large, watery eyes reflected deep despair. โI wonโt let you see him. Heโs my big brother. Iโd rather dieโฆโ
She was about to jump when she saw Elvis.
โBig brotherโฆโ she choked, tears welling.
Elvis arrived with Olive, but remained silent. Naomiโs parentsโ mouths dropped in shock.
โNaomi, is he the rich man youโve been staying with?โ
Her parents, consumed by greed and a love of money, had met wealthy people before, but Elvis, one of the cityโs richest businessmen, was in a different league entirely. They stared, noting his expensive suit, the valuable watch on his wristโan outfit worth tens of thousands.
Elvisโs narrow eyes glanced at them, ignoring Naomi initially. Olive shook her head. โItโs okay,โ she whispered.
Elvis removed his coat and draped it over Oliveโs shoulders, enveloping her entirely except for her head. Then he walked toward Naomi. He stood tall, his gaze fixed on her face. โItโs dangerous. Come here.โ
Tears streamed down Naomiโs face. โBig brother, leave me alone. I know Olive doesnโt like me.โ
Olive was speechless, unable to comprehend Naomiโs perception of her.
Elvis remained calm. โOlive is my woman, and youโre nothing to me. There will be no misunderstanding.โ
Naomi was stunned. Was he really here to save her? Her fist clenched. Her eyes flashed viciously; she remembered the humiliation of the previous night when Elvis had summoned her to his hotel room. But had the humiliation ended? No.
โBig brother, Iโm afraid Iโll implicate you. I come from a difficult background, and thereโs no point in living. Let me die.โ
Elvisโs indifferent voice cut through the air. โMy patience is limited. If you jump, I respect your choice. Iโll simply have someone retrieve your body.โ
Naomi froze. The wind dried her tears, leaving her feeling exposed. Olive watched coldly, silent. Naomi wouldnโt jump. Sheโd staged this for Elvisโs attention, but heโd subverted her plan.
Naomiโs mother quickly intervened. โNaomi, come down! This gentleman is just nervous. Itโs dangerous!โ
Her father added, โThatโs right, Naomi. Mom and Dad know you donโt want to be with Clement. This gentleman seems alright. Let him take care of you.โ
They were desperate to offload Naomi onto Elvis.
Naomi glared at Elvis, then climbed down. โBig brother, Iโm sorry. I was being willful.โ She approached him, confessing her fault.
She fell into his embrace, but instead of holding her, Elvis pushed her toward Peterson, who caught her. โMiss Naomi, Iโm here to support you.โ
Naomi closed her eyes in shame.
Later, Naomiโs parents visited Elvisโs villa, awestruck by its opulence.
โMy God, this villa is huge! It must be worth a fortune!โ
โIโve seen that vase on TV! Itโs priceless!โ
โThis sofa is so soft! I want to sleep on it!โ
A maid gently reminded them, โMy boss doesnโt like people touching his thingsโฆโ
Naomiโs father exploded. โYou bastard! A little servant! You dare lecture us? Do you know who we are?โ
