Chapter 370: Doubts About Zachary

Plumpy explained, โ€œMs. Somers, your experience is somewhat limited. Iโ€™ve encountered numerous terrorists who disguise themselves as harmless individuals, aiming to lower the enemyโ€™s guard. So, you shouldnโ€™t feel guilty for being suspicious of Mr. Macaluso.โ€

Raylee shared Plumpyโ€™s sentiment. She had already made up her mind, planning to keep her distance from Zachary going forward.

Just as she was turning to leave, the door swung open with a click. Startled, Raylee turned around. A pale and feeble Zachary was seen, with only his head poking out.

โ€œSorry. I didnโ€™t know you had come, Ray. I was just taking a shower, so I didnโ€™t hear the knock on the door or the phone ringing.โ€

Raylee hadnโ€™t expected him to be at home. Immediately, a comforting smile appeared on her face. It seems I have let my imagination run wild earlier.

With her doubts dispelled, she offered the fruits and gifts to express her gratitude.

โ€œMr. Macaluso, I came specifically to thank you. I took the liberty of asking the school for your dorm address. I hope I wasnโ€™t being too presumptuous. Also, why did you leave the hospital so soon? Werenโ€™t you supposed to stay a few more days? You donโ€™t need to worry about the medical expenses. I will cover them, including the compensation for your emotional distress.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s no big deal,โ€ Zachary mustered a weak smile. โ€œI have an academic report to rush for, and it was also inconvenient to have my colleagues cover for me, so I decided not to stay in the hospital. Iโ€™m a doctor myself. I can handle this minor injury. Ray, you really donโ€™t need to worry. I appreciate your concern.โ€ He then accepted the gift.

โ€œThere, Iโ€™ve accepted the gift. Since youโ€™re a female student, itโ€™s inappropriate for you to enter a male teacherโ€™s dormitory, so I wonโ€™t invite you in.โ€

Raylee nodded in understanding. โ€œAll that matters is that youโ€™re fine, Mr. Macaluso.โ€

Not wanting to disturb Zacharyโ€™s rest, she didnโ€™t linger for too long. After exchanging a few words, she quickly took her leave. Upon leaving the dormitory, she felt a sense of relief.

โ€œI always knew that Mr. Macaluso wasnโ€™t a bad person. Turns out, it was all just my imagination.โ€

Turning around, she was greeted by Plumpyโ€™s serious expression.

โ€œMs. Somers, I canโ€™t help but feel that something was off with Mr. Macaluso earlier.โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s the issue? Heโ€™s been discharged from the hospital and is resting in his dorm. He hasnโ€™t gone anywhere else.โ€

โ€œHe revealed his face, which looked quite strange. His expression was stiff, somewhat reminiscent of a person wearing a hyper-realistic mask.โ€

โ€œHe was injured, so naturally, his complexion would be off. Donโ€™t overthink it, Plumpy. Being suspicious all the time can be exhausting.โ€

Chapter 370: Doubts About Zachary

โ€œRay-Ray, whereโ€™s Mr. Leonardo? Why canโ€™t I get through to his phone? Did he block me?โ€

The nervous tone in his voice was strikingly similar to that of a woman who had been deserted by a jerk.

Speechless, Raylee had something on her mind that she wasnโ€™t sure if she should voice.

The masked man had gone to East Aploth, where he was dealing with matters concerning the Epean professor and the experimental data. Naturally, he wouldnโ€™t answer calls from someone annoying like Halston, especially when they had met late last night and he had just delivered breakfast this morning.

Itโ€™s only been a few hours since we saw each other, and heโ€™s already missing Leonardo? Does a single day feel like an eternity for Halston?! I guess I shouldnโ€™t be surprised. A man is so handsome that he can even turn straight men gay.

โ€œWhy arenโ€™t you speaking? Huh? Ray-Ray, donโ€™t get me wrong. Iโ€™m not missing Mr. Foucault, itโ€™s actually you Iโ€™m missing,โ€ Halston quickly started to explain again, โ€œI assure you, my relationship with Mr. Foucault is purely platonic. Iโ€™m attracted to women. Iโ€™m perfectly straight!โ€

โ€œI miss you too. How about I come to the hospital to see you?โ€ said Raylee calmly.

โ€œReally? Thatโ€™s fantastic, Ray-Ray. Iโ€™ll be waiting for you!โ€ Halston was so thrilled he could almost jump for joy.

Of course, Iโ€™m thinking about him, so much so that Iโ€™m going to give him a piece of my mind!

After she ended the call, her face darkened. Stealing my man is the equivalent of taking my life!

Even though Halston had saved her, it didnโ€™t feel that way at all. Fuming, Raylee stormed off to the hospital, intent on teaching this scoundrel a lesson. She was determined to show him the consequences of messing with her man.

In the end, Halstonโ€™s family arrived. The terror attack had severe repercussions. Every department was on high alert; even the military was deployed. Haistonโ€™s elder brother was a major-general in the military who came to inspect the scene and direct strategic operations.
