Chapter 369: The Rules of Maximus
Maximus ignored him, instead asking Mindy, โDonโt you know the rules of working for me? My rules are simpleโwomen and children are not to be harmed!โ
Mindy weakly nodded.
โKnowing this, why did you attack that woman with a knife?โ Maximus demanded.
โRaylee, that damn Raylee. Sheโs the one who ruined my face. Iโll kill her. Iโll have my revenge!โ Mindy declared, filled with righteous indignation.
โDo you know why I pulled you back from the jaws of death?โ Maximus crouched down, speaking in a meaningful tone.
โIt wasnโt out of pity for you, nor did I suddenly grow a conscience. It was simply because I needed a dog, an obedient one at that.โ
โI donโt want to be your lapdog!โ Mindy huffed. โVengeance is what I seek!โ
โHeh. Your fate as a dog has already been determined by me. From the moment I saved you, your life is mine, soโฆโ Suddenly, a gun appeared in Maximusโs hand.
Without another word, he fired a shot at the head of the man in the suit.
In the next instant, brain matter splattered everywhere. The victim didnโt even have a chance to protest his innocence before he collapsed on the ground, never to get up. His eyes were wide open, even in death.
The unfolding scene left the remaining terrorists terrified to their core. Even though they had undergone training and had learned to disregard life and death, they were still seized by fear in the face of actual death. The legendary Maximus, known for his ruthlessness and disregard for human life, had demonstrated firsthand that the rumors were true.
The man in the suit was considered a veteran within WC. His position wasnโt high-ranking, but it wasnโt low either. Having participated in numerous terrorist attacks, both big and small, his contributions to the organization were undeniable. Even then, Maximus killed him without hesitation. There was no regard for loyalty nor reason. Hence, everyone wondered if they were next.
The terrorists below the platform were all terrified, each one huddled fearfully in a corner, not daring to make a sound. Mundy, in particular, was terrified to the point that her face turned pale and her entire body was trembling.
Maximus looked at her, speaking in a threatening tone.
โDid you see that! He messed with my dog, so he deserved to die!โ
โDo you understand now, you mutt, what you should and shouldnโt do going forward?โ
Mindy nodded hastily. โI understand, I understand. I canโt break your rules.โ
Chapter 369: The Rules of Maximus.
However, it was unclear why Maximus had established such a rule. In any acts of terror he orchestrated, there was a steadfast ruleโchildren and women were to remain unharmed. Everyone wondered if he himself had abided by these same rules.
Raylee had purchased some fruits and gifts, and with Plumpy by her side, she arrived at Zacharyโs dormitory. He resided within the faculty condominium on the school grounds. Raylee was a student at Jexburgh University, making it very easy for her to come and go.
After knocking on the door for what felt like ages, there was no answer. Even phone calls to him went unanswered, which puzzled her.
Mr. Macaluso is injured, but he isnโt staying in the hospital, nor is he resting at home. Where could he have gone? A normal person, with such severe injuries, wouldnโt be wandering around recklessly. The crux of the matter is that he has gone off the grid. This is so strange.
This reminded Raylee of the masked manโs analysis of Zacharyโs words. Could it be that heโs really involved with the terrorists? He had saved me during our two chance encounters. Was it really just a coincidence?
A chill ran down Rayleeโs spine. If that truly is the case, he might well be a terrorist associated with Maximus. He conceals his true identity by blending into campus life, waiting for the perfect opportunity to approach me. All this while, he has been watching me closely. This is so scaryโฆ
โPlumpy, what do you think about Mr. Macaluso?โ Raylee asked.
โThereโs nothing unusual about his background. His record is clean. Other than that, I canโt make any conclusions yet.โ Plumpy added, โI agree with Mr. Foucaultโs assessment. Given the exceptional circumstances, everyone has to be on guard. Even if it were their own parents who showed up, they would still have to be extremely wary, let alone a stranger.โ
Raylee nodded. โBut I still find it hard to believe. His innocent demeanor doesnโt make him look like a terrorist.โ
