Chapter 357: Just Superficial Wounds
โMr. Foucault! The one who made quite an impression at the banquet, the heir to the royal family?โ Halston asked, his intonation sharp.
Itaylee nodded in agreement.
Halston asked, with a sour tone, โIs this pungent young lady yourโฆ ally? Why is she associating with Mr. Foucault? And does she need to report your safety status to Mr. Founder? What exactly is your relationship with Mr. Foucault?โ
Haylerโs brows knitted as she looked at him with clear annoyance. โYouโve been shot; doesnโt it hurt? How do you still have the mood to ask questions? Take care of yourself!โ
In a fit of frustration, Halston roared, โNo, compared to the pain of my wounds, my heart aches more! Hayler, you need to tell me! What exactly is your relationship with Mr. Foucault?โ
Hayler rolled her eyes, ignoring him. The situation had become even more chaotic. An increasing number of civilians began to seek refuge in this small alley. A horrifying act of terror had occurred in the bustling city center. The terrorists were armed with guns, and a single, deadly shotโฆ It was only natural for the deep-seated fears of many people to be thoroughly provoked. Numerous people began to quietly pray. Some even took out their phones to leave messages for their loved ones, their words sounding as if they were their last. The atmosphere on the scene suddenly turned incredibly solemn.
Itaylee also wore a heavy expression, but she harbored no fear of death at all. By now, her health had severely deteriorated, and she had begun to live each day as if it were her last. Plumpy was still reporting the situation on the ground to the masked man. Not wanting to interrupt their conversation, she simply pulled up her chat with the masked man and sent a voice message: โI miss you, and I love you.โ A thousand words and myriad phrases, all condensed into two brief sentences.
Before she received a response, there was a sudden commotion at the scene. Figures were silently inching their way toward the alley where they were located. Two deafening gunshots echoed out, and the scene instantly turned into utter chaos. The crowd scattered in panic, some fleeing, others running, all in a hurried rush. In the midst of the chaos, Baylee lost track of Plumpy and Halston. She desperately dashed into the alley; in the midst of her fight, she was forcefully shoved by Tchind, causing her to fall.

Chapter 357: Just Superficial Wounds
With a fierce and menacing demeanor, she lunged at Raylee while screaming viciously, โDie, you despicable b*tch!โ
Finished
Not long ago, Raylee had fallen ill and had only recently been discharged from the hospital. Her physical strength hadnโt caught up yet, making it impossible for her to perform any combat arts techniques.
She watched in horror as the long knife was about to pierce her heart. Suddenly, a figure swiftly positioned itself in front of her and helped shield her from the knife. Before Raylee could even react, let alone see who the man who saved her was, the woman in black yanked her knife out and thrust it toward her again. However, a pair of large hands gripped the tip of the knife directly.
The man who took the knife for her let out a strained growl. โHurry on out of hereโฆโ
Only then did Raylee clearly see that the person who had stepped in to shield her from danger was Zachary, the doctor from Jexburgh University. The first time they met, he helped her apprehend Mindy, who had splashed sulfuric acid on her. The second time they met, he took a knife for her. Her feeling of gratitude was beyond words. At times like these, it was impossible for Raylee to flee. She immediately grabbed a battered broom from the corner and furiously swung it at the woman in black. The woman in black seemed impervious to pain, and her strength was also quite considerable. Holding the long knife in one hand and the broom in the other, the woman pulled and struck with fierce determination. Raylee was hit so hard that she was thrown directly against the adjacent wall. The back of her head hit the solid wall, causing her both pain and dizziness.
Fortunately, at that moment, Plumpy arrived just in time and landed a punch on the woman in black. She then pressed her foot onto the womanโs head while simultaneously twisting her hands behind her back, rendering her incapable of any movement. In just a couple of moves, she had the woman in black under her control.
Zacharyโs injuries were quite severe. He had been stabbed in the thigh, and his palm was also cut. He couldnโt stand, and his body was drenched in sweat as he lay on the ground, gasping for air. He seemed to be in a great deal of pain.
โMacaluso, are you okay?โ Raylee asked worriedly, kneeling down to assess his injuries.
Zachary shook his head, letting out a bitter laugh as he said, โIโm fine. None of the injuries are serious. Theyโre just superficial wounds. I initially planned to stop by Mr. Shapiroโs lab to grab some materials, but who would have thought that Iโd encounter a terrorist attack on the way there? Talk about bad luck! By the way, are you all right?โ
โIโm fine. You took the hit for me, so youโre the one in danger right now. Even now, youโre calling it a superficial injury! Youโre a doctor, Mr. Macaluso! This is a serious misdiagnosis,โ Raylee said, her eyes drawn to the fresh blood flowing from his thigh. Overwhelmed by guilt, she watched as the blood trickled down.
