Chapter 310: To Save Or Not To Save
A heated argument raged within the family of three in their office. Suddenly, Samuel received a phone call. After hanging up, he anxiously exclaimed, โThis is bad! The detention center just called; they said Waverly attempted suicide by ramming herself into a wall!โ
โHas she been taken to the hospital? Get them to rush Wavy to the hospital now! Could the lawyer escort me to see her? I want to see her! Oh, dearโฆ Why must she be so worrisome? Iโm really concerned!โ Harriet asked anxiously.
Samuel sighed. โWeโre not allowed to see her yet. The detention center informed us that a doctor has already tended to her wounds, so sheโs okay for now. You donโt need to worry too much, Mom.โ
โHow could I not be worried? Wavy already suffers from depression, and she has such a low stress tolerance. I fear she wonโt be able to last much longer.โ This news completely shattered Harrietโs emotional state.
She grabbed Alaricโs arm and questioned him, โAlaric, give me a straight answer right now! Will you or wonโt you save Wavy?โ
Alaric snorted coldly. โWhat should I use to save her? Donโt look at me as if Iโm the enemy. Do you think itโs easy for me to see our daughter like this?โ
โYour daughter was driven to suicide, and you just stand by and do nothing?โ Harriet wept in disappointment.
โHow many times has she threatened to take her own life? Can you even keep count? Even if I save her this time, I canโt save her every time!โ
โFine! If you wonโt save her, then Wavy is doomed to die in prison sooner or later. In that case, I might as well die with her!โ Harriet then rushed to the window, recklessly intending to jump off the sill. Falling from a height of over ten stories would undoubtedly result in a gruesome end.
Alaric recklessly rushed over to hold her back, raising his voice as he reprimanded her, โHave you lost your mind? How could you commit suicide in Goodridge Groupโs office building? Donโt you think the company has been in the spotlight enough lately?โ
โMy daughter is my life! If you wonโt even save her, whatโs the point of me living?โ Harriet cried out in despair.
Samuel also joined in and pleaded, โDad, will you please save Waverly? If you donโt even care about Momโs life, then thereโs no point in me staying in this family. Make your choice. Would you rather cling to your shares and your money, or stand by and watch your family fall apart?โ
Harriet was driven to the brink of death, and his only son defied him as well. Left with no other choice, Alaric reluctantly agreed to Plumpyโs demand, ceding thirty percent of his shares. However, it was under the condition that they had to rescue Waverly before he would proceed with the signing of the transfer agreement.
Plumpy refused, stating, โNo, you must transfer the shares before we will rescue her.โ
โWhat if youโre just tricking me to swindle me of my shares? What if you end up not rescuing her?โ
โI can arrange for the person in charge of Hontero Foundation to sign a contract with you. With the certification of a team of lawyers, you can rest assured that you wonโt be short-changed in the slightest, Mr. Goodridge.โ
โHontero Foundation? Isnโt that the foundation established by the Malk royal family in our country? Could it be that youโre representing Mr. Foucault?โ Alaric exclaimed in surprise.
โYou could say that. Also, I have one more request. I need access to Old Mrs. Goodridgeโs safe,โ replied Plumpy with a chuckle.
Upon hearing this, Alaric was instantly so angry that he was practically fuming, his eyes wide with indignation. โI get it now. This was all Rayleeโs idea from start to finish, wasnโt it? She clearly could have saved Waverly, but she chose not to, and now she insists on taking thirty percent of my shares and the safe! Iโve uncovered her scheme! She aims to seize my familyโs assets! Well, guess what? She can dream on!โ
Alaric was so furious he could hardly contain himself. โSince you refuse to agree to the terms, then I wonโt insist any further. Just to be clear, my offer stands for only twelve hours.โ
After Plumpy finished speaking, she turned around, opened the door, and left the office. Harriet rushed over to her, pleading, โDonโt go! I agree to your request!โ
Feeling annoyed, Alaric said, โYouโre out of your mind! This is all a scheme set up by Raylee! If I agree to her request, then Goodridge Group would soon become her playground!โ
Harriet wept as she said, โIsnโt it better to give your shares to Ray-Ray, instead of letting them fall into the hands of others? Moreover, werenโt you constantly expressing your desire to broker a deal with Mr. Foucault? How could you pass up such a grand opportunity thatโs right in front of you?โ
Alaric was utterly frustrated. โA collaboration is supposed to be profitable, but so far, Iโve gained nothing in return! Iโd have to be out of my mind to give away so much of my shares!โ
