Chapter 310: To Save Or Not To Save

A heated argument raged within the family of three in their office. Suddenly, Samuel received a phone call. After hanging up, he anxiously exclaimed, โ€œThis is bad! The detention center just called; they said Waverly attempted suicide by ramming herself into a wall!โ€

โ€œHas she been taken to the hospital? Get them to rush Wavy to the hospital now! Could the lawyer escort me to see her? I want to see her! Oh, dearโ€ฆ Why must she be so worrisome? Iโ€™m really concerned!โ€ Harriet asked anxiously.

Samuel sighed. โ€œWeโ€™re not allowed to see her yet. The detention center informed us that a doctor has already tended to her wounds, so sheโ€™s okay for now. You donโ€™t need to worry too much, Mom.โ€

โ€œHow could I not be worried? Wavy already suffers from depression, and she has such a low stress tolerance. I fear she wonโ€™t be able to last much longer.โ€ This news completely shattered Harrietโ€™s emotional state.

She grabbed Alaricโ€™s arm and questioned him, โ€œAlaric, give me a straight answer right now! Will you or wonโ€™t you save Wavy?โ€

Alaric snorted coldly. โ€œWhat should I use to save her? Donโ€™t look at me as if Iโ€™m the enemy. Do you think itโ€™s easy for me to see our daughter like this?โ€

โ€œYour daughter was driven to suicide, and you just stand by and do nothing?โ€ Harriet wept in disappointment.

โ€œHow many times has she threatened to take her own life? Can you even keep count? Even if I save her this time, I canโ€™t save her every time!โ€

โ€œFine! If you wonโ€™t save her, then Wavy is doomed to die in prison sooner or later. In that case, I might as well die with her!โ€ Harriet then rushed to the window, recklessly intending to jump off the sill. Falling from a height of over ten stories would undoubtedly result in a gruesome end.

Alaric recklessly rushed over to hold her back, raising his voice as he reprimanded her, โ€œHave you lost your mind? How could you commit suicide in Goodridge Groupโ€™s office building? Donโ€™t you think the company has been in the spotlight enough lately?โ€

โ€œMy daughter is my life! If you wonโ€™t even save her, whatโ€™s the point of me living?โ€ Harriet cried out in despair.

Samuel also joined in and pleaded, โ€œDad, will you please save Waverly? If you donโ€™t even care about Momโ€™s life, then thereโ€™s no point in me staying in this family. Make your choice. Would you rather cling to your shares and your money, or stand by and watch your family fall apart?โ€

Harriet was driven to the brink of death, and his only son defied him as well. Left with no other choice, Alaric reluctantly agreed to Plumpyโ€™s demand, ceding thirty percent of his shares. However, it was under the condition that they had to rescue Waverly before he would proceed with the signing of the transfer agreement.

Plumpy refused, stating, โ€œNo, you must transfer the shares before we will rescue her.โ€

โ€œWhat if youโ€™re just tricking me to swindle me of my shares? What if you end up not rescuing her?โ€

โ€œI can arrange for the person in charge of Hontero Foundation to sign a contract with you. With the certification of a team of lawyers, you can rest assured that you wonโ€™t be short-changed in the slightest, Mr. Goodridge.โ€

โ€œHontero Foundation? Isnโ€™t that the foundation established by the Malk royal family in our country? Could it be that youโ€™re representing Mr. Foucault?โ€ Alaric exclaimed in surprise.

โ€œYou could say that. Also, I have one more request. I need access to Old Mrs. Goodridgeโ€™s safe,โ€ replied Plumpy with a chuckle.

Upon hearing this, Alaric was instantly so angry that he was practically fuming, his eyes wide with indignation. โ€œI get it now. This was all Rayleeโ€™s idea from start to finish, wasnโ€™t it? She clearly could have saved Waverly, but she chose not to, and now she insists on taking thirty percent of my shares and the safe! Iโ€™ve uncovered her scheme! She aims to seize my familyโ€™s assets! Well, guess what? She can dream on!โ€

Alaric was so furious he could hardly contain himself. โ€œSince you refuse to agree to the terms, then I wonโ€™t insist any further. Just to be clear, my offer stands for only twelve hours.โ€

After Plumpy finished speaking, she turned around, opened the door, and left the office. Harriet rushed over to her, pleading, โ€œDonโ€™t go! I agree to your request!โ€

Feeling annoyed, Alaric said, โ€œYouโ€™re out of your mind! This is all a scheme set up by Raylee! If I agree to her request, then Goodridge Group would soon become her playground!โ€

Harriet wept as she said, โ€œIsnโ€™t it better to give your shares to Ray-Ray, instead of letting them fall into the hands of others? Moreover, werenโ€™t you constantly expressing your desire to broker a deal with Mr. Foucault? How could you pass up such a grand opportunity thatโ€™s right in front of you?โ€

Alaric was utterly frustrated. โ€œA collaboration is supposed to be profitable, but so far, Iโ€™ve gained nothing in return! Iโ€™d have to be out of my mind to give away so much of my shares!โ€
