“She’s sleeping, so she can’t answer the phone right now.”

The masked man hung up and placed the phone down. He held no fondness for the Goodridge family. After all, Raylee’s enemies were his enemies too.

Meanwhile, at the Goodridge residence, Harriet was far from flustered after the call abruptly ended. Instead, she said excitedly, “Ray-Ray was asleep; it was Mr. Foucault who answered the phone!”

“What? Mr. Foucault? They’re together now? Are you sure you heard that right?” Alaric also grew excited.

“I’m absolutely certain! I would recognize Mr. Foucault’s voice anywhere!” Harriet stated confidently.

Alaric straightened up. “Great; they must be in a hotel room, then. Who knows; maybe everything we want to happen has already happened!”

He was overjoyed, so much so that he had completely forgotten about Waverly. After all, the heir to the Malk royal family was about to become his son-in-law, and the benefits this union could bring were innumerable. In no time, Goodridge Group could become a globally recognized enterprise. Even if he were dead, this would make him so happy that he would come back to life.

Seeing Alaric’s face light up with joy and pride, Casimir felt a bitter taste in his heart. He truly hadn’t expected the relationship between Raylee and Leonardo to progress so rapidly. They had only known each other for a mere day or two. Upon closer reflection, however, he realized it really wasn’t all that surprising. Raylee had become stunningly radiant, her beauty akin to an angel who had descended to earth. Any man who laid his eyes on her would surely be tempted. Even if it was just a one-night stand, being favored by a bigwig like Leonardo could bring countless benefits. Even though he couldn’t help but be jealous, the glint of greed in his eyes gradually intensified at the thought of Raylee being the woman of a bigwig and her value increasing exponentially.

After leaving the Goodridge residence, Casimir informed his mother about the situation.

“I don’t want anyone else, I only want Raylee,” Casimir insisted sternly.

“She’s an option as long as you manage to use her well. It’s possible for you to have both a career and the woman you want. As long as she can win over Mr. Foucault and assist you in your collaboration with him, then I will allow you two to marry,” Margaret said with profound implication.

“Would the elders in the family even allow me to marry an adopted daughter? Besides, I’m worried that Alaric might cause me trouble again!” Casimir said, expressing his concerns.

Margaret, on the other hand, wasn’t concerned about the Goodridge family in the slightest. “Do you think I am that incapable? Don’t worry; I’ve got this situation under control. As for the Goodridge family… They had offended the Lorimer family. It would be impressive if they could even protect themselves, let alone mess with you! The saying ‘once bitten, twice shy’ describes you so well. Do you really think that old relic, Alaric, has the energy and resources to keep fighting you till the bitter end?”

Casimir nodded in agreement. “You’re right, Mom! Moreover, once I’ve collaborated with Mr. Foucault, my influence among the board of directors will surely increase. Why should I fear the Goodridge family, then?”

Margaret then reminded him, “What you need to do now is to get Raylee on your side. Warn her that she needs to take good care of Mr. Foucault and help you connect with him. Her only worth lies in aiding you to elevate your career. This is her sole value and the only way she could marry you. I have one condition, though. Even if you do end up marrying her, you are not to get a marriage certificate within five years.”

“Why is that?” Casimir was puzzled.

“Because she’s been in prison, and her health is poor, so she might not be able to bear children! What use would our family have for a hen that can’t lay eggs? Moreover, it’s essential to have a son when having children. Having a daughter is of no use. Once she gives birth to a son, you two can then get a marriage certificate. But if she can’t, then she should just leave!” Margaret said with disdain.

“Let’s talk about it later.”

Casimir wasn’t a mama’s boy, but he knew there was a certain wisdom to her words, so he would take some of her advice to heart. After all, women understood women better.

After chatting with his mother, Casimir gave Raylee a call. As soon as the call connected this time, he immediately threw out the most enticing bait by saying, “Ray-Ray, it’s Casimir here. Please, don’t hang up the phone. I have some great news to share with you. My mom has agreed to our marriage. You’ve heard about what happened to Waverly, haven’t you? She’s been arrested, and it’s unlikely she’ll get out. I’ll break off our engagement and then I’ll marry you! We can finally be together, openly and without any hindrance. No one can stop us now. Are you happy to hear that?”

When Casimir excitedly announced the great news, he had assumed that Raylee would share his joy.
