Chapter 303: We Would Not Save Her
Samuel shook his head, then asked, “Mindy is indeed not a good person, but she had no grudges with Ms. Tiffany. Why would she plot against her? Could there be another mastermind behind this incident?”
Alaric’s eyebrows furrowed into a deep frown. “Who else could she possibly involve in such a disgusting act? Those five men, who were involved with Tiffany, admitted it themselves. They said Mindy had given them tens of thousands of dollars to ‘attend to’ Tiffany. The transaction records and video evidence are all here! Mindy is simply despicable and has no sense of decency!”
Samuel said, “I never said she didn’t do it. Remember how there was no way for us to cut the power during the livestream? Could Mindy, all by herself, really have the capability to control the entire hotel’s internal system? What I fear is that Waverly is in league with them.”
“That’s impossible! My dear Waverly is innocent and kind! She would never do such a foolish thing!” Harriet denied immediately.
“Innocent and kind-hearted? Mom, can you be a bit more rational and not let your bias cloud your judgment? If she wasn’t involved, then why did she help Mindy escape? She’s not a child anymore. Could she really not comprehend the gravity of this situation? She must be feeling guilty, which is why she’s helping with the escape! Four years ago, it was Waverly who stole Tiffany’s necklace, not me. I merely placed it in Raylee’s bag, forcing her to take the fall. To put it bluntly, Waverly has never exactly been a decent person!” Samuel retorted with a serious expression.
Harriet defended her child, saying, “So much time has passed since then! Waverly has already corrected her ways, you know? I’ve showered her with luxury throughout the past four years, so there’s no way she would do anything outrageous again.”
After a moment of hesitation, Samuel finally decided to tell the truth.
“Let me tell you about something recent, then. Just last week, Waverly instructed Mindy to spread rumors about Ray-Ray online, claiming that Ray-Ray was kept by a man and was messing around with a married man. As a result, those baseless rumors and false accusations led to her being sued by Ray-Ray! She even had to pay three hundred million in compensation! How will you explain that, huh? You said Waverly has changed, but would a reformed person do something that harms others like that?”
“What? That actually happened?” Both Alaric and Harriet were taken aback.
Samuel nodded, saying, “I couldn’t believe it either! But that’s exactly what happened! Ray-Ray’s representative was none other than the top lawyer from Blackacre Law Firm! Three hundred million was indeed withdrawn from Wavy’s account. All of that can be traced, so I couldn’t possibly be making that up.”
Alaric deeply sighed before finally directing his reproachful gaze toward Harriet.
“Look at the daughter you’ve raised so well! Too much motherly love often spoils the child! It’s precisely because you’ve been spoiling her relentlessly that we’re in this mess today!”
Harriet murmured in sorrow, “Could it be true that Wavy was really involved in setting Tiffany up?”
Alaric gritted his teeth in frustration. “If it’s true, then the situation is quite serious…”
Unlike four years ago, the Goodridge family had now joined forces with the Sutherland family, which significantly elevated their standing and power. Although he couldn’t fully hold his own against the Lorimer family, protecting his own daughter wasn’t too difficult.
Strangely enough, after Waverly got out, she was insistently begging them to also rescue Mindy.
“Dad, Mom, I beg you, please save Mindy! She’s in grave danger right now! The detention center is a nasty place. Surely, Tiffany must have pulled some strings to ensure they give Mindy a hard time. How could Mindy possibly survive that? I can’t just stand by and watch her suffer!” Waverly was crying so hard that she was gasping for breath.
“Hmph! She actually set up the eldest daughter of the Lorimer family. It’s not as simple as just going to a detention center anymore. It won’t be long before she becomes a criminal! Forget about saving her. There’s simply no way for her to escape her fate!” Alaric said, somewhat annoyed.
“Dad, Mom, Samuel, you have to think of something…” Waverly cried out in utter despair.
“Dad spent a lot of money and utilized all his connections to save you! We’ve done everything in our power to rescue you, so don’t take things for granted! Mindy got herself into this mess, so we wouldn’t save her even if we could!” Samuel said.
