Despite everything, Casimir seemed oblivious to his surroundings. His heart and eyes were completely captivated by Raylee. It wasn’t until Waverly planted a quick kiss on his cheek that he finally reacted, hastily pushing her away as he asked, “Waverly, what are you doing?” The disdain in his tone was simply too obvious to ignore.
Waverly was taken aback when she saw the disgust spreading across Casimir’s face. She felt so distressed that tears welled up in her eyes, but she strove to calm her emotions. She couldn’t lose her temper, nor could she complain. After all, she was the star of the banquet, so she absolutely couldn’t admit defeat in front of Raylee.
“Casimir, I’m your fiancée, aren’t I? What’s the big deal about me giving you a kiss? Oh, I get it now. You were probably worried that my lipstick would stain your face, huh? Well, it is a bit dirty. Here, let me wipe it for you.”
Gently, with tender affection, Waverly used a tissue to lightly dab at Casimir’s face. Upon seeing that, Casimir nodded and said, “Yes, I was worried about getting lipstick on my face.”
“Haha! You silly goose! Even with lipstick on your face, you’re still irresistibly handsome!” Waverly was completely smitten as she stared at Casimir, even though he didn’t make eye contact with her.
A moment later, Waverly feigned surprise, exclaiming, “Raylee, you’re here too? Did I hear it right from Mom and Dad that you came as Mr. Mulligan’s date? So, is something going on between you two?”
Halston chuckled as he rubbed his hands together. “I too, hope that is the case. But I must remind you, Ms. Goodridge, to keep a close eye on your fiancé. It’s disgusting to see him eyeing someone else despite already being taken!”
“Are you joking, Mr. Mulligan? My fiancé only has eyes for me.” Waverly’s face was full of smiles, yet her tone carried a hint of scorn as she continued, “My goodness, who would have thought? Just the other day, Raylee was cleaning at the jewelry store, and now she’s latched onto you, Mr. Mulligan. It’s truly a cause for celebration.”
Halston said protectively, “What do you mean by that? Even if we’re together, we’re just a normal couple, in a free and loving relationship. If you don’t know how to speak properly, you might as well keep your mouth shut!”
“Hehe… Raylee, Mr. Mulligan, Casimir and I will take our leave now,” Waverly said and left with her arm looped around Casimir’s.
Casimir’s gaze, however, seemed to be glued to Raylee’s figure. Even as he walked away, he couldn’t help but continue to gaze longingly at Raylee.
“Casimir, this is my event. Can you tone it down a bit?” Waverly pleaded, feeling wronged.
Slightly furrowing his brows, Casimir reached out to touch his face. Seemingly bothered by the lipstick mark on his face, he told Waverly, “I’m going to the bathroom to wash my face; I’ll meet up with you later.”
Waverly watched, her eyes turning red with frustration. Mindy strode over, glaring in the direction of Raylee as she exclaimed, “Wavy, look at your so-called sister, all dolled up and showy. Who is she trying to impress? I bet she deliberately came to seduce your fiancé! Even after swindling you out of three hundred million, they still wouldn’t let go of Casimir. Wavy, you need to wise up. You should quickly seal the deal with Casimir! Don’t let a prime opportunity slip through your fingers, or you’ll definitely regret it.”
“You think I don’t want to?” Waverly retorted, feeling annoyed. She had lost count of how many times she had used the tactic of sleeping together, but it had absolutely no effect on Casimir. At times, she couldn’t help but question whether he was lacking in certain areas.
“Mindy, what did you just say? Wavy was swindled out of three hundred million by Raylee? Tell me what exactly happened!” The angry roar of Samuel echoed from behind.
Mindy paused, realizing she had let something slip. In a hurry, she defended herself by saying, “Huh? I didn’t say anything!”
Samuel was unable to contain his anger. “Speak up, Wavy! Hurry up and spill it out! Three hundred million is no trivial matter! I could accuse her of fraud!”
Waverly wanted to conceal the matter as she was the one at fault. Raylee had some dirt on her and even brought in a top-notch lawyer to press charges. “I, I, I…” she stammered for quite a while, until she became so anxious that she burst into tears. “Don’t concern yourself with this matter, Samuel!”
In a fit of anger, Samuel immediately sought out Raylee. After much difficulty, Raylee finally managed to get rid of the overly-attached Halston, only to be faced with someone even more troublesome. Oh, well… I suppose I could use a sparring partner to practice my combat arts on!
Samuel began to interrogate her by asking, “Did you swindle Wavy out of three hundred million? That’s the money Mom and I gave her! You better return it to me right now!”
