Alaric realized Raylee had completely slipped his control. A sense of foreboding filled his heart. Where had Raylee been these past few days? Why had she changed so much after coming back? Could it be related to that incident?

Alaric’s gaze deepened as he felt incredibly conflicted facing Raylee. He was caught between a rock and a hard place, contemplating whether to scold her. Both options left him frustrated.

So, with a hint of annoyance, he said, “You’re acting like a rabid dog, biting anyone you come across. I wouldn’t dare fool you! Anyway, I have more guests to attend to, so I must excuse myself. You’d better behave yourself. If anything goes wrong, you can kiss your safety goodbye forever!”

“Sure, then you should hurry and give it to me. Otherwise, I fear my strength will go to waste, and I might have to practice on your daughter,” Raylee scoffed.

“We already told you that you’ll get it once the charity sale is over, didn’t we? Why the rush?”

After giving her a stern look, Harriet hurried off to greet the guests with Alaric.

Unfazed, Raylee found a seat and had just settled down when she received a call from the masked man. After the phone had rung ten times, she reluctantly picked up, asking, “What do you want?”

She was still holding a grudge against him. Ever since a week ago, during a video call, a woman’s voice could be heard coming from the masked man’s end. Just like that, a grudge had formed in her heart. That was especially the case as he never reached out to her again after the woman had summoned him. Since he didn’t offer her any explanation or make any attempts to communicate with her afterward, she took it as a lack of regard for her feelings.

There’s no way anyone wouldn’t get mad, is there? That scumbag had pushed his luck way too far! If a guy remains uncontactable for two days after something like this happens, he is considered to be breaking up with his woman!

“Treating me with such coldness, huh? Growing bold, are you?” said the masked man in an exhausted voice.

When Raylee heard his voice, which was evidently strained to the point of hoarseness from fatigue, she wanted to express her concern for him. However, as the words reached the tip of her tongue, she swallowed them back down.

“Hmph! Yes, I’ve always been quite bold. Got a problem with that? Bite me, then!”

“This is the first time you’ve made such a unique request. Sure, I’ll grant your wish once I get home. I’ll bite you!”

There was a stretch of silence on the other end of the phone.

A moment later, the strained voice of the masked man came through. “Raylee, you’re playing with fire here!”

It was then that Raylee realized she had been going a bit too far. However, she didn’t have a shred of guilt. “What’s the matter, can’t I have some fun? After all, you’re not coming home, so it wouldn’t affect you anyway!”

“Who said I’m not coming home?”

“Why would you return to me when you already have another home out there?”

The masked man let out a wry chuckle. “I didn’t flirt around with other women, so why are you being so jealous?”

“Hmph! I don’t want to talk to you right now, so stop bothering me! I’m attending a banquet!”

“What banquet are you attending? I heard from Plumpy that you left the house looking stunning. Are you out there attracting random guys while I’m not around?”

“Yes, I’m now someone else’s date! Don’t think you’re the only one with admirers! I have them too, okay?”

Just like that, Raylee ended the call. Venting her anger like that seemed to somewhat alleviate the gloominess that had been plaguing her for days.

Meanwhile, in the eighth mansion of Royal Court, the masked man, fresh from his return from East Aploth, stared at his disconnected phone, feeling rather frustrated.

Dodo stood by and taunted him with a smirk, “That’s what you get for not coming home. You’ve upset your wife so much that she’s left! Looks like you’re aiming for bachelorhood, huh?”

Watching the lively Dodo, the masked man didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. That child’s personality was truly a mirror image of his mother’s. Previously, there were concerns about his inability to overcome his loneliness. Now, he had made progress, acting as lively as a bundle of joy at home.

Raylee’s character is indeed a lively one, but she seems to be rather upset. I have no idea what she’s upset about, though…

The masked man pulled Dodo closer and asked with a serious expression, “Dodo, do you know where your mommy went? She’s at a banquet as a handsome guy’s date, and she’s about to run off with him. If I end up wifeless, you’ll end up motherless too!”

Dodo instantly became anxious. “I want Mommy, I want Mommy…”

“Shall I take you to her now?” he asked.
