Chapter 235: An Apology Was All She Received

Sounding as if he had made up his mind, Casimirโ€™s tone was exceptionally resolute as he said, โ€œIโ€™m sorry, Wavy, the person I love is Raylee.โ€ He didnโ€™t even utter a single word of courtesy or comfort. When it came to Waverly, his attitude had always been indifferent and nonchalant. It was as if she were dispensable.

Upon hearing these words, Waverly clenched her fists tightly in despair. Casimir was her sore spot, a man she absolutely had to have. Now, as she watched him slipping away, she was so enraged she could kill.

โ€œCasimir, why are you treating me like this? What did I do wrong? For the past four years, Iโ€™ve been trying to build a relationship with you. Iโ€™ve been walking on eggshells around you, doing everything I could to win your approval. But what about you? You couldnโ€™t even be bothered to glance my way, and now you want to call off our engagement? Tell me, what must I do to warm your heart? Is your heart made of stone?โ€

Faced with Waverlyโ€™s accusations, Casimir let out a sigh, finally uttering, โ€œIโ€™m sorry.โ€ An apology was all she received after pouring her heart out. Nothing could have been more heartbreaking than this.

โ€œWhat good is an apology? I donโ€™t want your apologies! I want you, Casimir! It doesnโ€™t matter if your heart isnโ€™t with me yet, as long as youโ€™re by my side. I believe youโ€™ll eventually fall in love with me! Would you choose me, please? I promise to treat you well for the rest of my life, even if it means risking my life for you!โ€ Waverly cried out in anguish.

Slightly furrowing his eyebrows, Casimir simply responded with silence. The decisiveness of his choice was something that Raylee hadnโ€™t anticipated. Watching Waverly wallow in her misery, she was thrilled to the core. And without any reservation, she added fuel to the fire by saying, โ€œWhatโ€™s the use of your life? Youโ€™re always offering things that no one wants. Honestly, you didnโ€™t do anything wrong. For those who are unloved, no matter what they do, itโ€™ll always be seen as wrong. You shouldnโ€™t feel upset, though. If a man is meant to be yours, he will definitely be yours. If heโ€™s not, no amount of effort can change that. After all, true happiness cannot be forced. As such, you should let go. You deserve better, Waverly!โ€

Waverlyโ€™s fierce eyes were locked onto Raylee, unblinking as she exclaimed, โ€œOh, spare me the sarcasm! You were clearly forcing Casimir to choose you on purpose! You sought revenge against me, hence you wanted to steal him back from me!โ€

Raylee scoffed with a dismissive laugh, โ€œHehโ€ฆ Did I force him to choose me? Do you think Iโ€™m a parasite in his brain, controlling his every decision?โ€

Samuel held Waverly tightly while expressing his anger toward Raylee by saying, โ€œCasimir, do you really believe what she said? Itโ€™s clear sheโ€™s using you! This is just a means to an end. She lost Jeremiah and Percival, so sheโ€™s resorting to stealing you instead! As long as she manages to steal you away, she can seek revenge on Waverly and the Goodridge family. You must never believe her lies!โ€

Casimir was no fool; he was naturally capable of discerning whether the words spoken by Raylee were true. However, this was his only chance to win Raylee back, and he simply couldnโ€™t afford to miss it. A resolute expression flickered across his handsome face.

Raylee snapped angrily, โ€œSamuel, stop trying to judge me with your conspiracy theories. No one knows better than you whether my love for Casimir is real or not! Do you think Iโ€™m as irresponsible with emotions as you are? For your sake, Layla gambled her own happiness, only to end up utterly defeated. Even after all these years, youโ€™re still a coward in front of her! Just because youโ€™re a spineless man doesnโ€™t mean everyone else is the same as you! Let me make it crystal clear to you today. I love Casimir. Regardless of four years ago or four years into the future, my love for him runs deep. Iโ€™m willing to marry him!โ€ Her declaration of love had made Casimir, who was already head over heels, fall even deeper. He was so disoriented that he couldnโ€™t even tell north from south.

Suppressing his inner excitement, he said, โ€œI still love Raylee. Even if everything she said was a lie, Iโ€™ll accept it. After all, I owe her for what happened four years ago, so Iโ€™m willing to spend my lifetime making amends! Waverly, Iโ€™m sorry, but Iโ€™ve chosen Raylee. Thank you for your affection over the past four years, but I have to let you down.โ€

โ€œCasimirโ€ฆโ€ Waverly cried out in despair, โ€œPlease donโ€™t give up on me!โ€

Samuel comforted her, โ€œDonโ€™t be upset over such a scumbag, Wavy. There are plenty of men in the world. You donโ€™t need to restrict yourself to him. I will introduce you to even better men, all from prestigious families within Jexburghโ€™s circle, with far superior backgrounds than Casimir.โ€

โ€œExactly! Halston of the Mulligan family is indeed a perfect match!โ€ Raylee had a knack for hitting sore spots.

โ€œHow could that scumbag ever be worthy of Wavy? Youโ€™d better stop playing matchmaker here!โ€ Samuel blurted out.

Raylee mercilessly mocked him by saying, โ€œOh? Why did you introduce me to that scumbag, then? Tsk, tskโ€ฆ You deny playing favorites and even claimed that you want to make amends with meโ€ฆ Only a fool would believe your words!โ€

Samuel was left speechless after hearing that.
