Chapter 121: I Will Not Part With Mindy

โ€œMindy is a good friend of mine, and I donโ€™t want her to be threatened. Seeing her so frightened really breaks my heart,โ€ Harriet said, her expression evidently filled with displeasure.

โ€œRay-Ray, youโ€™ve really crossed the line. Mindy was initially at the hospital accompanying Wavy to see the doctor, but your sudden threats caused Wavy to insist on coming along no matter what. Do you have any idea how deep the wounds on Wavyโ€™s wrist are! She threatened to take her own life, and itโ€™s all because of you! If she doesnโ€™t receive proper treatment, her wrist will be left with deep scars.โ€

Faced with the accusations, Raylee felt nothing. She simply cast a nonchalant glance over the trio.

โ€œShe didnโ€™t have to come if she didnโ€™t want to. Itโ€™s not like I held a knife to her throat.โ€

โ€œBut you threatened her!โ€ Waverly sobbed. โ€œHow is threatening her with imprisonment any different from holding a knife to her throat?โ€

โ€œCompared to the four years of torment I endured in prison, this threat doesnโ€™t seem excessive to me. And your wounds, can they compare to the ones I carry?โ€ Raylee scoffed.

Harriet sighed. โ€œRay-Ray, I understand youโ€™re upset and resentful, but just drop the argument, will you? Letโ€™s quickly get what you need so that Wavy can see the doctor sooner.โ€

Raylee frowned, saying, โ€œLetโ€™s have a look around then.โ€

Her original intention was to spend some alone time with Mindy, but unexpectedly, two more people showed up. This rendered Mindyโ€™s presence here pointless.

At that moment, Mindy suddenly suggested, โ€œRaylee, why donโ€™t you consider buying some jewelry? I know thereโ€™s a fantastic jewelry store on the third floor. Their flagship piece is absolutely stunning.โ€

โ€œAll right, Iโ€™ll listen to you,โ€ Raylee said, without objection.

The group set off together for the jewelry store.

On the way there, Mindy discreetly sent out a message: Weโ€™re on our way now, so make sure youโ€™re ready. Everything must go off without a hitch.

โ€œAre you very busy?โ€ Raylee inquired, observing Mindy engrossed in her phone.

โ€œNo, no, letโ€™s hurry up. The flagship piece of that shop is really beautiful,โ€ Mindy hastily put away her phone, pretending as if nothing had happened.

They soon arrived at the jewelry store on the third floor. Upon seeing the so-called flagship piece, Raylee was not as astounded as she had imagined she would be. Mindy was busily showing her around the other pieces of jewelry. Her eagerness was a bit too much, bordering on abnormal.

As she sat in the lounge, Mindy enthusiastically brought over a glass of lemonade, saying with a smile, โ€œRay-Ray, have some lemonade first. Take your time looking around. Youโ€™re bound to find something you like.โ€

โ€œNo thanks,โ€ Raylee calmly declined.

Waverly complained from the side, โ€œRaylee, Mindy has been taking care of you so diligently. Could you not be so cold toward her?โ€

โ€œSo, by your logic, I should greet her with a smile?โ€ Kaylee cast a thoughtful glance at Waverly. โ€œYouโ€™ve been keeping a real close eye on your best friend, havenโ€™t you? Are you afraid that if I interact with her alone, I might discover something?โ€

โ€œRaylee, what are you talking about? When have I been keeping a close eye on Mindy?โ€ Waverlyโ€™s gaze flickered nervously a few times.

After finishing her phone call, Harriet walked over and urged, โ€œRay-Ray, have you found something you like? Feel free to choose. Iโ€™ll cover the bill. But hurry up as Wavy still needs to get to the hospital to check on her wrist.โ€

โ€œThen you two should head to the hospital. Iโ€™ll take my time looking around with Mindy,โ€ Raylee subtly suggested.

โ€œNo. I want to be with Mindy!โ€ Waverly protested, her eyes rimmed with redness. โ€œI donโ€™t want to part ways with Mindy. Iโ€™m afraid sheโ€™ll be bullied. Mom, you know Mindy is the one who saved my life, so she is as vital to me as my own life.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re such a loyal friend. How can you be so kind-hearted?โ€ Harriet gently caressed Waverlyโ€™s cheek while casting a reproachful glance at Raylee.

Raylee studied Waverlyโ€™s unusual demeanor, her face expressionless as she remarked, โ€œShe saved your life, but itโ€™s not like youโ€™re conjoined twins. Ms. Goodridge, arenโ€™t you being overly anxious? I heard that youโ€™ve been practically inseparable from Mindy these past few days, havenโ€™t you?โ€

Waverly frowned, her eyes tinged with red as she spoke. โ€œItโ€™s because you truly frightened Mindy that day. Sheโ€™s scared of going to prison, so Iโ€™ve been by her side ever since.โ€

Raylee remained silent, growing even more convinced that they shared a secret.

โ€œRay-Ray, could you please do me a favor and let Mindy and Wavy go to the hospital first?โ€ Harriet pleaded.

โ€œAll right, Iโ€™ll accompany you all to the hospital,โ€ Raylee said, not refusing. Anyway, she had the time, so she might as well take her time toying with them!

Just as the group stepped out of the jewelry store, the alarm suddenly blared. Three security guards clad in uniforms hurried over and blocked their path.

One of the security guards said with a serious expression, โ€œLadies, please hold on a moment. Weโ€™ve misplaced a diamond necklace of considerable value. We kindly ask for your cooperation in checking your personal belongings!โ€

Upon hearing these words, Harriet became furious.
