Chapter 120: Planting the Seeds of Doubt
Tiffany, having trained in combat arts since childhood, possessed a fearless character. Raylee, in the past, was a mere weakling in comparison! Unexpectedly, a simple disagreement now had Raylee drawing a gun. It shocked Tiffany deeply.
Could four years in prison really cause such a drastic change in a person?
โWhat are you afraid of, Ms. Tiffany? You had me thrown into prison for several years; I should be the one whoโs scared,โ Raylee scoffed.
โAre you here to seek revenge against me?โ Tiffany scoffed. โIf you dare, pull the trigger! Letโs see if you can make it out of Lorimer Estate alive today!โ
Raylee seemed deep in thought as she said, โMs. Tiffany, how could I dare to point a gun at you? So far, the only person Iโve used it against was Jeremiah. I snatched this gun from himโbefore I shot him once. Heโs probably on his way to the hospital by now.โ
โWhat? You took that lunaticโs gun and shot at him?โ Tiffany exclaimed in disbelief. โYouโve really become quite bold, havenโt you? How did you end up like this?โ
Raylee toyed with the handgun, a smirk playing on her lips that was neither a smile nor a frown.
โMs. Layla, itโs been four years; itโs only natural that Iโve changed. For better or worse, Iโm going to marry Jeremiah. Youโll be my sister-in-law in the future, so all I hope for is that we can live in harmony. If you ever push me into a corner, rememberโฆ guns donโt discriminate.โ
โAre you threatening me?โ Tiffany exclaimed, her temper flaring in frustration. โI thought Jeremiah was crazy, but it turns out youโre just as mad! A pair of lunatics getting marriedโthereโs no way your future wonโt be lively!โ
โI know you have feelings for Casimir. Four years ago, you blew the necklace incident out of proportion, leading to my imprisonment. You did it to remove me from the picture so you could have Casimir all to yourself,โ Raylee stated bluntly.
โHow did you know!โ Tiffany asked in astonishment, but she quickly regained her composure. โWell, either wayโฆ itโs a secret! Itโs just as well that you know. A lowly adopted girl like you doesnโt deserve someone like Casimir!โ
โWhat about you then? Do you think youโre worthy? I was gone for four years, yet Casimir still ended up marrying Waverly. Youโre nothing,โ Raylee scornfully mocked. โYouโve been with him since childhood, yet you canโt compare to a newcomer. Youโre nothing but a complete failure.โ
Tiffany was provoked. Her face radiated intense hatred, her fists clenched tightly.
โWho does Waverly think she is? Iโve never considered her a threat. Just wait and see who gets the last laugh!โ
โMs. Tiffany, donโt be too overconfident. Youโre no match for her!โ Raylee shook her head and scoffed.
โI, an esteemed daughter of the Lorimer family, am considered inferior to a country-bred wild woman?โ Tiffany uttered disdainfully.
โI donโt doubt your capabilities, Ms. Tiffany, especially after having been bested by you before. But what if I told you that the one who stole the necklace four years ago was actually Waverly?โ
โWhat do you mean?โ Tiffany asked, greatly surprised.
โFour years ago, I was wrongly accused. Yet, Waverly managed to sway everyone, including Casimir, to her side, making me the scapegoat,โ Raylee furrowed her eyebrows and added. โCan you really afford to underestimate such a formidable woman?โ
โIs that really what happened?โ Tiffany was utterly shocked. โYouโre not just spouting nonsense, using me to get back at Waverly, are you?โ
โFeel free to investigate if you think Iโm spouting nonsense. Anyway, I wonโt bother you any further.โ
With an unreadable expression, Raylee pocketed her gun, then she turned and left, cradling the injured kitten.
Having a gun was indeed useful. At the very least, its deterrent power was evident, preventing others from causing trouble recklessly. No wonder Jeremiah always carried a gun with him. I should find more opportunities to swipe a few more guns from that lunatic.
After leaving Lorimer Estate, Raylee took the kitten to an animal hospital, then headed to a large shopping mall. Veraโs birthday was approaching, so Raylee wanted to choose a gift for her.
In need of someone to carry her bags, Raylee promptly called Mindy, asking her to come over immediately. Carrying bags was just a minor part of it. In reality, she wanted to spend more time with Mindy to uncover more of Waverlyโs secrets.
After planting the seeds of doubt in Tiffany today, it was certain to bring a whole lot of drama to Waverlyโs doorstep. But this wasnโt enough, not nearly enough.
โWhy should I carry your bags? Iโm not your lackey!โ Mindy was quite agitated on the other end of the phone.
โWhat did you promise when you were at the Goodridge residence! You said that as long as I spared you, you would come anytime I needed you,โ Raylee calmly stated. โIf you choose not to come, thatโs fine. Iโll just retract my promise and leave you to face the consequences of your actions in prison.โ
Faced with the threat, Mindy still ended up compromising.
Half an hour later, she arrived at the mall. What Raylee hadnโt expected was that Harriet and Waverly had also come along.
With reddened eyes, Waverly said, โRaylee, could you consider me next time you go shopping and need someone to carry your bags?โ
