Chapter 120: Planting the Seeds of Doubt

Tiffany, having trained in combat arts since childhood, possessed a fearless character. Raylee, in the past, was a mere weakling in comparison! Unexpectedly, a simple disagreement now had Raylee drawing a gun. It shocked Tiffany deeply.

Could four years in prison really cause such a drastic change in a person?

โ€œWhat are you afraid of, Ms. Tiffany? You had me thrown into prison for several years; I should be the one whoโ€™s scared,โ€ Raylee scoffed.

โ€œAre you here to seek revenge against me?โ€ Tiffany scoffed. โ€œIf you dare, pull the trigger! Letโ€™s see if you can make it out of Lorimer Estate alive today!โ€

Raylee seemed deep in thought as she said, โ€œMs. Tiffany, how could I dare to point a gun at you? So far, the only person Iโ€™ve used it against was Jeremiah. I snatched this gun from himโ€”before I shot him once. Heโ€™s probably on his way to the hospital by now.โ€

โ€œWhat? You took that lunaticโ€™s gun and shot at him?โ€ Tiffany exclaimed in disbelief. โ€œYouโ€™ve really become quite bold, havenโ€™t you? How did you end up like this?โ€

Raylee toyed with the handgun, a smirk playing on her lips that was neither a smile nor a frown.

โ€œMs. Layla, itโ€™s been four years; itโ€™s only natural that Iโ€™ve changed. For better or worse, Iโ€™m going to marry Jeremiah. Youโ€™ll be my sister-in-law in the future, so all I hope for is that we can live in harmony. If you ever push me into a corner, rememberโ€ฆ guns donโ€™t discriminate.โ€

โ€œAre you threatening me?โ€ Tiffany exclaimed, her temper flaring in frustration. โ€œI thought Jeremiah was crazy, but it turns out youโ€™re just as mad! A pair of lunatics getting marriedโ€”thereโ€™s no way your future wonโ€™t be lively!โ€

โ€œI know you have feelings for Casimir. Four years ago, you blew the necklace incident out of proportion, leading to my imprisonment. You did it to remove me from the picture so you could have Casimir all to yourself,โ€ Raylee stated bluntly.

โ€œHow did you know!โ€ Tiffany asked in astonishment, but she quickly regained her composure. โ€œWell, either wayโ€ฆ itโ€™s a secret! Itโ€™s just as well that you know. A lowly adopted girl like you doesnโ€™t deserve someone like Casimir!โ€

โ€œWhat about you then? Do you think youโ€™re worthy? I was gone for four years, yet Casimir still ended up marrying Waverly. Youโ€™re nothing,โ€ Raylee scornfully mocked. โ€œYouโ€™ve been with him since childhood, yet you canโ€™t compare to a newcomer. Youโ€™re nothing but a complete failure.โ€

Tiffany was provoked. Her face radiated intense hatred, her fists clenched tightly.

โ€œWho does Waverly think she is? Iโ€™ve never considered her a threat. Just wait and see who gets the last laugh!โ€

โ€œMs. Tiffany, donโ€™t be too overconfident. Youโ€™re no match for her!โ€ Raylee shook her head and scoffed.

โ€œI, an esteemed daughter of the Lorimer family, am considered inferior to a country-bred wild woman?โ€ Tiffany uttered disdainfully.

โ€œI donโ€™t doubt your capabilities, Ms. Tiffany, especially after having been bested by you before. But what if I told you that the one who stole the necklace four years ago was actually Waverly?โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€ Tiffany asked, greatly surprised.

โ€œFour years ago, I was wrongly accused. Yet, Waverly managed to sway everyone, including Casimir, to her side, making me the scapegoat,โ€ Raylee furrowed her eyebrows and added. โ€œCan you really afford to underestimate such a formidable woman?โ€

โ€œIs that really what happened?โ€ Tiffany was utterly shocked. โ€œYouโ€™re not just spouting nonsense, using me to get back at Waverly, are you?โ€

โ€œFeel free to investigate if you think Iโ€™m spouting nonsense. Anyway, I wonโ€™t bother you any further.โ€

With an unreadable expression, Raylee pocketed her gun, then she turned and left, cradling the injured kitten.

Having a gun was indeed useful. At the very least, its deterrent power was evident, preventing others from causing trouble recklessly. No wonder Jeremiah always carried a gun with him. I should find more opportunities to swipe a few more guns from that lunatic.

After leaving Lorimer Estate, Raylee took the kitten to an animal hospital, then headed to a large shopping mall. Veraโ€™s birthday was approaching, so Raylee wanted to choose a gift for her.

In need of someone to carry her bags, Raylee promptly called Mindy, asking her to come over immediately. Carrying bags was just a minor part of it. In reality, she wanted to spend more time with Mindy to uncover more of Waverlyโ€™s secrets.

After planting the seeds of doubt in Tiffany today, it was certain to bring a whole lot of drama to Waverlyโ€™s doorstep. But this wasnโ€™t enough, not nearly enough.

โ€œWhy should I carry your bags? Iโ€™m not your lackey!โ€ Mindy was quite agitated on the other end of the phone.

โ€œWhat did you promise when you were at the Goodridge residence! You said that as long as I spared you, you would come anytime I needed you,โ€ Raylee calmly stated. โ€œIf you choose not to come, thatโ€™s fine. Iโ€™ll just retract my promise and leave you to face the consequences of your actions in prison.โ€

Faced with the threat, Mindy still ended up compromising.

Half an hour later, she arrived at the mall. What Raylee hadnโ€™t expected was that Harriet and Waverly had also come along.

With reddened eyes, Waverly said, โ€œRaylee, could you consider me next time you go shopping and need someone to carry your bags?โ€
