Chapter 116: Who Is Afraid Of Whom

Raylee bit her lip, taking several deep breaths and striving to keep her emotions in check. She was the victim, so why should she be the one afraid? If anyone should be scared, it should be this demon! She didnโ€™t come to Lorimer Estate today to let him see her vulnerable side.

โ€œIndeed, Iโ€™ve missed you, my dear fiancรฉ.โ€ Raylee stood up to confidently face him, revealing a standard eight-toothed grin. She forced herself to remain calm as she approached him, straightening out his disheveled collar. Her smile seemed etched onto her face as she laughed, the sound as gentle as a flowing river.

โ€œMy fiancรฉ is still as handsome as ever. These brows, these eyesโ€”your facial features are like a masterpiece crafted by divine hands. God was indeed playing favorites!โ€

Jeremiah frowned, clearly taken aback by Rayleeโ€™s behavior. โ€œShe had voluntarily come here and, surprisingly, wasnโ€™t at all afraid or angry. Instead, she was even nonchalantly acting along with him.โ€ Jeremiah stared at her, his gaze deep and mysterious, as if he was trying to pierce through her eyes and reach directly into her soul.

A moment later. He still couldnโ€™t see any trace of fear on her face. A profound sense of defeat permeated his entire being. In the end, he didnโ€™t utter a word. His expression stony, he grunted heavily, bypassing Raylee to take a seat on the couch.

Rayleeโ€™s breathing, once rapid, calmed in that instant. On the surface, she appeared calm and composed, but in reality, she had already broken out in a cold sweat due to fear. In the recent mental contest she had just experienced, fear was constantly threatening to leap from her chest, like an invisible net, trapping her to the point of near suffocation. However, she had overcome it. Her robust mental strength had allowed her to triumph! She was determined not to let this demon witness her vulnerability and helplessness.

โ€œWhatโ€™s the matter? Donโ€™t like my praise, my dear fiancรฉ?โ€ Raylee took a seat next to Jeremiah, continuing to speak in a sarcastic manner.

Jeremiah scoffed and replied, โ€œOf course I like it. How could I not? Youโ€™re really lucky, you know. Itโ€™s a miracle you survived and returned. Who knows if youโ€™ll be this fortunate in the future?โ€

โ€œOf course, I am your fiancรฉe, after all. If I were unlucky, how could I have met someone as wonderful as you, my Mr. Right?โ€ Raylee sneered.

It was clear she had won the mental tug-of-war that had taken place earlier. Jeremiahโ€™s attitude had shifted dramatically, from his initial laid-back approach to now being almost on the verge of losing his composure. This boosted her confidence significantly. This man wasnโ€™t as formidable as she had initially imagined!

โ€œMr. Right?โ€ Jeremiahโ€™s lips curled up in a mocking smile. โ€œRaylee, arenโ€™t you afraid of me?โ€

โ€œDo you want the truth?โ€

โ€œOf course!โ€

โ€œOf course I am, but whoโ€™s truly afraid of whom? We canโ€™t really tell yet, can we?โ€ A hint of a mocking smile curled the corner of Rayleeโ€™s lips.

โ€œWhat do you mean? Are you implying that I would be afraid of you?โ€ Jeremiah seemed to have heard the joke of the century. โ€œRaylee, have you lost your mind?โ€

Kaylee laughed without uttering a word. Her enigmatic demeanor was close to driving Jeremiah off the edge.

At that moment, Layla interjected from the side, โ€œJeremiah, after the inhumane things youโ€™ve done to Ray-Ray, donโ€™t you think you should quickly apologize to her and seek her forgiveness? If she were to break off the engagement with you, youโ€™d be without a wife. Missing out on such a wonderful girl, youโ€™d regret it for the rest of your life!โ€

Jeremiahโ€™s dark eyes were fixated on Raylee as he said, with an air of arrogance and disdain, โ€œIโ€™m sorry, Ray-Ray. Could you please not break off our engagement? I love you very much.โ€

This half-hearted apology, along with the insincere declaration of love, was so unbearable that Raylee felt like she was about to throw up the dinner she had eaten the night before. She had no plans to beat around the bush, nor did she intend to waste any more words.

Raylee immediately pulled out a black flash drive and placed it on the coffee table, speaking in an indifferent tone. โ€œDo you recognize this?โ€

The moment Jeremiah caught sight of the flash drive, his pupils constricted. His heart pounded like a drum, and his eyes flickered with unmistakable panic. In the next moment, he had the flash drive clenched in his hand as he demanded angrily, โ€œHow did my stuff end up in your hands?โ€

โ€œHa, judging by your reaction, this thing seems very important to you, huh?โ€ Kaylee watched him, her gaze cool and unflinching as she observed his changing expressions. A surge of triumph welled up within her. She smiled and asked, โ€œWould you like to guess whether Iโ€™ve seen whatโ€™s inside?โ€

โ€œRaylee, youโ€™re courting death!โ€ Jeremiahโ€™s handsome face was as cold as frost, his voice a furious growl.

โ€œMy life and death are already in your hands; would I need to seek my own doom?โ€ Raylee let out a sarcastic laugh. โ€œHowever, from now on, my life is in my hands, not yours! Because, Mr. Lorimer, I have evidence of your crimes in my hands.โ€

Jeremiah glared at her unblinkingly. The hostility reflected in his eyes was akin to a blizzard cascading down a snow-capped mountain, chillingly sweeping over everything. Suddenly, he pulled out a gun from his clothing. Rayleeโ€™s eyes widened in terror.
