Chapter 416
Kylie hid in the wardrobe, patient as a hunter lying in wait for her prey. What she didnโt realize was that she was the one being hunted.
The hotel manager and staff patiently waited for Shermaine to return, planning to call the police only after she confirmed whether any valuables were missing.
Strangely enough, when they checked the surveillance footage, hoping to spot the thief, there wasnโt a single trace of anyone suspicious. Clearly, this was the work of a seasoned professional โ someone who knew exactly how to hide from the cameras.
Shermaine was back within 15 minutes.
She was dressed in an effortless casual style, wearing an oversized, solid pink sweatshirt paired with black hot pants, black mid-calf combat boots, and a beret perched just right. The whole look was sharp and confident, with a hint of cool allure.
However, what truly turned heads was her radiant complexion and breathtaking beauty, particularly her long, slender legs. She looked like a masterpiece hand-sculpted by the heavens themselves.
Shermaine gave the room a quick, casual once-over, then turned to the hotel manager and staff. โNothingโs missing,โ
The manager thought, โHuh? Nothing at all?โ Then, just to be sure, he asked again, โAre you sure, Ms. Jean?โ
Shermaine nodded.
The manager added, โEven though nothing seems to be missing, I still think we should call the police, just to be safe.โ
โNo need for that,โ Shermaine replied coolly. โThis doesnโt concern you, and I have it under control. Just have housekeeping come back to clean in an hour.โ
The manager thought, โThis is definitely not a regular theft. Rich people always have some messy business going on. Best we donโt get too involved.โ
Since Shermaine clearly wasnโt budging, the manager could only agree to beef up security on her floor to prevent any further incidents.
After seeing the manager and the others out, Shermaine closed the door behind them and deliberately locked it from the inside.
After that, Shermaine stretched casually, acting as if she had no idea Kylie was hiding in the wardrobe. She walked into the room, picked up the jacket sheโd left out that morning, and made a show of hanging it up in the closet.
The wardrobe door swung open, and Kylie immediately made a grab for Shermaineโs throat. But Shermaine simply leaned back, calmly took a step back, then feigned a look of mild surprise. โKylie? Itโs you.โ
For the first time, Shermaine was genuinely impressed with her own acting because Kylie didnโt suspect a thing. In fact, Kylie looked downright smug at Shermaineโs feigned surprise. โShermaine, you never thought Iโd come back for revenge, did you?โ
โI totally didnโt expect that.โ Shermaine paused before adding sarcastically, โSomeone who was supposed to be paralyzed is now alive and kicking right in front of me.โ
Of course, Kylie wasnโt about to spill the truth. She let out a sneer, โYou donโt need to know. Iโve suffered because of you, and now, itโs your turn.โ
Kylie thought, โI wonโt kill Shermaine, but Iโll make her feel what itโs like to be crippled too. If Joshua ever finds out, itโll break his heart.' At that thought, fury blazed in her eyes, and her fists clenched so tightly her knuckles cracked.
Shermaine just smiled faintly.
Kylie frowned. Something about Shermaineโs smile felt off, but she brushed it aside. She thought, โIโm a cyborg now. One punch from me, and sheโs done for.โ
Shermaine didnโt try to take Kylie head-on; instead, she sidestepped. Kylieโs fist smashed into the wall, punching a crater about an inch deep.
Shermaine arched a brow. โSomeoneโs gotten stronger.โ
Kylie switched hands and came at her again. Punch after punch, craters bloomed across the wall like a shotgun blast โ but not a single hit landed on Shermaine.
โIf youโve got the guts, stop dodging!โ Kylie snapped.
โShould I just stand here and let you hit me?โ Shermaine chuckled knowingly. โDo I look like an idiot to you?โ
