Listen to this chapter:

After calming her down, Joshua finally slipped his phone back into his pocket. When he turned around, he was surprised to find Judy standing nearby with her arms crossed. โ€œYour wife seems to have quite the temper.โ€

In the Kingdom of Xyperia, though women hold the highest status in society, they would never lose their temper at their husbands without a good reason. They have always treated their spouses with the utmost respect.

So when Judy witnessed Shermaine snapping at Joshua so casually, she couldnโ€™t hide her disapproval.

To her, someone of Joshuaโ€™s standing shouldnโ€™t have to lower himself like that to pacify a tantrum. It was unbecoming of a man so revered in Wallington.

Joshua, however, found her remarks both presumptuous and irrelevant. The warmth in his voice was gone, replaced with a biting chill. โ€œI spoil her because I want to.โ€

No matter how bad Shermaineโ€™s mood got, he wouldnโ€™t allow anyone to criticize herโ€”not even a word. In fact, he found something oddly satisfying about calming her down. It made him feel wanted in a way no one else ever could.

โ€œNo offense. I was just stating facts,โ€ Judy said with a faint smirk. โ€œIf my honesty upset you, I mightโ€“just this onceโ€“offer you an apology.โ€

Judyโ€™s holier-than-thou attitude when criticizing others was truly an eye-opener for Joshua.

โ€œDonโ€™t bother.โ€ Joshua didnโ€™t even bother to look at her, his eyes glinting with barely restrained fury. โ€œWho the hell do you think you are?โ€

Judy was about to say something more, but Joshuaโ€™s patience had run out. If she werenโ€™t a woman, she would have been carried out of here on a stretcher today.

Joshua cut her off and summoned a staff member. โ€œYou have five minutes to get them out of here.โ€

The staff was put in a difficult position. After all, everyone here was a member, and there really was no good reason to make an exception for anyone.

He had no choice but to call the manager. The manager snapped, โ€œAre you out of your mind? Thatโ€™s Joshua! Just do whatever he says.โ€

โ€œBut-โ€ the staff member began.

โ€œThis is Basterel. Who cares if that foreigner is a member? So what if they are? Can they possibly compare to Joshuaโ€™s power and influence here? Joshua could easily take the top spot in next yearโ€™s top businessman list.โ€

After being reprimanded, the staff had no choice but to swallow their frustration and politely but firmly asked Judy to leave.

The moment Harry heard that, he exploded because Judy had never been treated like this back in their kingdom. He thought that Joshua clearly didnโ€™t know who he was dealing with.

Harry pointed at Joshua and snarled, โ€œMark my words. Youโ€™ll regret crossing Her Highness.โ€

Joshua sneered, โ€œKeep pointing and youโ€™ll lose that finger.โ€

โ€œYou!โ€ Harry sputtered, his face flushing with anger.

Joshuaโ€™s eyes turned cold, and he snapped, โ€œGet lost.โ€

The scions watching from the sidelines had never seen Joshua this pissed before. โ€˜These two really thought they were something else,โ€™ one of them thought. โ€˜Well, maybe they are, back in their turf, but this is Basterel. This is Joshuaโ€™s domain. They canโ€™t just run their mouths off here.โ€™

Honestly, Judy didnโ€™t think sheโ€™d said anything out of lineโ€”sheโ€™d only made one little remark about Shermaine. However, that made Joshua act like an overprotective guard dog.

As the Crown Princess of the Kingdom of Xyperia, Judy had always been admired and reveredโ€“never once humiliated like this. Furious, she leveled a cold glare at Joshua. โ€œYouโ€™re being reckless, Joshua.โ€

Judy produced her membership card with a sneer. โ€œA boxing club that treats its distinguished guests like this? I wonโ€™t be coming back.โ€

She snapped it in half and flung it to the ground. Fixing Joshua with a cold stare, she added, โ€œJoshua, weโ€™ll meet again. Letโ€™s see if youโ€™ll still have the guts to stand your ground next time.โ€

The crowd gasped at her audacity. They all wondered, โ€˜Who does she think she is?โ€™

Even after they left, Joshuaโ€™s temper hadnโ€™t cooled in the slightest. โ€œRoy.โ€

Roy stepped forward. โ€œJoshua, Iโ€™m already looking into the background of that woman and that simp.โ€

Around 8 PM, Danielle returned from the lab to find Shermaine in the shower. Her eyes immediately fell on a pair of boxing gloves left on the table.

They felt unusually light in her hands, and she wondered, โ€˜Huhโ€ฆ I wonder what these are made of.โ€™

Curious, Danielle slipped one on. There was a small button on the gloveโ€“she pressed it, but nothing happened.

She gave the glove a couple of experimental swings, accidentally bumping the corner of the table, and to her shock, the entire table instantly shattered into pieces.

Speechless, Danielle thought, โ€˜Of course, my junior is into this crazy tech. That table was solid as a rock. One would need something at least 110 pounds to break it.โ€™

Hearing the noise, Shermaine stepped out of the bathroom. Fresh from her shower, she was dressed in milky-white pajamas with her hair still damp and cascading down her back. โ€œTurn it off when youโ€™re done playing.โ€

Afraid she might break something else, Danielle quickly turned it off and took it off. โ€œCan this thing even shatter bulletproof glass?โ€

โ€œDepends on the thickness of it,โ€ Shermaine replied.

That meant it could shatter normal glass easily. Danielle thought, โ€˜If Kylie really shows up, sheโ€™ll get beaten to a pulp and ends up screaming for help.โ€™

Danielle remembered something. โ€˜After Kylie was taken by that mysterious organization, her comminuted fractures healed completely in just days. Thereโ€™s no way our current medical technology can do that. Either she had a body replacement, or sheโ€™s undergone some kind of cybernetic enhancement.โ€™

โ€˜If their enhancement tech is truly this advanced, just who on earth were these people?โ€™

Danielle gave her a big thumbs-up. โ€œI bet Molly would love to buy you one of these.โ€

โ€œThe materialโ€™s special and one of a kind,โ€ Shermaine stretched lazily and said. โ€œGo take your shower. Steve will bring us dinner any minute now.โ€

Danielle nodded.

Meanwhile, Roy combed through international databases but found no trace of Judyโ€™s and Harryโ€™s identities. Frowning, he reported, โ€œJoshua, it looks like their identity and personal information has been deliberately concealed. Even their immigration records have been completely wiped clean.โ€

Then, he added, โ€œThose two are definitely suspicious.โ€

Joshua commanded, โ€œPut someone on their tail.โ€

Steve brought over dinner, and the two of them ate while watching TV. After eating their fill, Shermaine rubbed her full belly and let out a drowsy yawn.

Danielle cleared the table. โ€œIf youโ€™re sleepy, go get some rest.โ€

Shermaine said, โ€œLet me just sit for a few minutes.โ€

Danielle quickly cleared the table. โ€œIโ€™m going to video call your brother then.โ€

Shermaine had said sheโ€™d sit for just a few minutes, but the longer she sat on the sofa, the heavier her eyelids became. Eventually, she gave in and headed to her room, turned off the lights, and collapsed into bed.

By the time she woke the next morning, sunlight was pouring through the windows. It was a clear, beautiful day.

The hotel had a gym, and after a solid workout, the last traces of sleep finally wore off. Shermaine sipped her water as alerts from GPS kept pinging in her ear. โ€œTarget is five miles awayโ€ฆ Target is three miles away.โ€

Kylie was getting closer until she finally arrived near the hotel. Acting as if she had no idea Kylie had arrived, Shermaine finished her session and headed to the lab with Danielle.

After Shermaine left, Kylie slipped into the hotel and headed straight for Shermaineโ€™s room. With practiced ease, she pulled out a card, tapped it twice, and the door unlocked with a soft click.

She wasnโ€™t really looking for the books, but rather, she just wanted to get back at Shermaine. But with her mysterious rescuers watching, she didnโ€™t dare act out and had no choice but to restrain herself.

This time, she discovered a suitcase tucked in the corner, packed entirely with books. The moment she found it, she made an immediate call. โ€œThe books are here.โ€

The person on the other end of the line commanded, โ€œBring them back.โ€

โ€œGot it,โ€ Kylie replied.

But Kylie didnโ€™t leave right away. Instead, she tore through the room, tossing things around and making a mess, then quietly opened the door and hid, lying in wait.

Soon after, the housekeeper discovered the mess and immediately reported it to hotel management, who then called Shermaine.

โ€œGot it. Iโ€™m heading back now to check if anythingโ€™s missing,โ€ Shermaine replied as she made a U-turn for the hotel.
