Chapter 410
Harry thought, โIf the royal family had never declined, they would still maintain a marriage alliance with Judy.
โMoreover, Joshua possesses such superior genes. If Her Highness wishes to produce the most perfect heir, he would be the ideal choice.
โHowever, this man already has a wife in this world, so his body and soul are no longer pure. He is utterly unworthy of Her Highness and could never become Her Highnessโ consort.โ
Harry suggested, โYour Highness, I suggest we utilize Joshua. Even if we activate the mecha, Apocalypse, we may not be able to control it. But with him, the success rate jumps to 80%.โ
The first step for them was to find Apocalypseโs operation manual. After all, there were specific control commands they had to know.
Apocalypse wasnโt just any machine. It was a high-level, AI-driven mecha, a technological marvel far beyond their current capabilities.
Even by todayโs most advanced standards, it was cutting-edge technology. Once activated, it could autonomously update its systems and gather global intelligence in real-time.
It was the kind of tech their labs couldnโt replicate even in theory. Legend had it that the royal familyโs ancestors brought it with them when they arrived in the Kingdom of Xyperia, and there was only one of them.
Moreover, its destructive power was on par with that of a nuclear weapon. With Apocalypse in her hands, Judyโs dream of unifying the kingdom would no longer be a dream.
Judy kept her gaze fixed unabashedly on Joshua the whole time, yet from start to finish, he never once cast a glance her way.
Judy wasnโt bothered at all. She kept watching him, plotting her schemes. What Joshua thought was irrelevant to her.
After scanning the menu, Ross looked up to find the stunning foreign woman whoโd just walked in staring at his brother-in-law. He thought, โWhat a nuisance. Shouldโve booked a private room. This guyโs always attracting attention.โ
But there was something different about this womanโher stare carried a predatory sharpness, almost like a hawk zeroing in on prey.
โYou know her?โ Ross asked under his breath.
Joshua tilted his head slightly, gave her a brief glance, then turned away. โNo.โ
At this moment, Judy averted her gaze. โNo rush. Letโs observe him a bit longer.โ
The two men made quick work of their meal and left the restaurant within half an hour.
They were about to head back to their respective companies when Ross received a call from Henry. He turned to Joshua and asked, โHenry invited us to go boxing. Wanna go?โ
Joshua had been swamped with work lately and barely had time to relax. Without hesitation, he nodded.
At 2 PM, Danielle returned to the lab after a short nap, only to find Shermaine curled up fast asleep on the break room couch.
Danielle couldnโt help but let out a soft, amused sigh. โSheโs always telling me to rest, but never does it herself.โ Still, she grabbed a jacket and gently draped it over Shermaine.
When Shermaine woke up, it was already 4 PM. She rubbed her temples, a little dazed. The alarm hadnโt gone off, and oddly enough, Steve hadnโt come to wake her either.
Without giving it much thought, Shermaine shrugged off the jacket and got up. Stepping outside, she saw Danielle in discussion with the others. Clearly, the upgraded serum was ready, and testing was about to begin.
Chapter 411
Shermaine walked over, her voice sleepy and soft. โWhy didnโt anyone wake me up?โ
โDr. Shelly said sheโd handle things here and wanted you to get some more rest, Dr. Jean,โ Steve replied.
Danielle arched an eyebrow playfully. โSee? Iโm good to you, arenโt I?โ
Shermaine smiled and was about to say something when a lazy yawn escaped her instead. โLet me take over from here.โ
โIf youโre still tired, just sleep a bit longer. Donโt worry, Iโll handle the clinical trial data,โ Danielle said gently. โYou havenโt been sleeping well lately, have you?โ
It was true that she hadnโt had a good sleep in a long time, but getting four or five hours a night wasnโt exactly little either. Lately, sheโd been feeling unusually drowsy, though she managed to push through most days.
Today, however, she just couldnโt fight it anymore. She laid down on the couch, planning to nap for half an hourโonly to fall into such a deep sleep that she didnโt even realize when sheโd drifted off.
Shermaine had always been especially fond of sleeping in during autumn. It seemed the only reason sheโd held back before was because no one else could handle her workload. Now that Danielle was here and she could finally ease up a little, her body wasted no time giving in.
