Chapter 65

Finny was used to a certain version of Autumn, one who absolutely hated confrontation. Whenever Britney was in a bad mood, she’d deliberately pick a fight, and Autumn would just sit there, silently taking it, never pushing back or arguing. To Britney, Autumn was the perfect emotional punching bag, always available, anytime, anywhere.

But this time, Britney wasn’t looking for a fight. She genuinely needed help with something she couldn’t handle on her own. So why was Autumn acting like this? What was with that wall?

Back then, to stay on her brother’s good side, Autumn always treated Britney kindly, and she wouldn’t have dared to upset her. Had she forgotten how to read the room? Did she not care about her anymore? Treat me like this?

Disney’s eyes flared with shock and fury. “Autumn, do you even hear yourself? How can you treat me like this?”

Imm regarded her as a petulant child throwing a tantrum. She decided that it was best to ignore her. But Britney tended to control and completely disregard her surroundings when provoked. Autumn had work to handle, and Ainda’s situation was still unresolved.

Completely ignoring Britney would only push her further over the edge. So, Autumn continued, “You really need to think about the kind of messages you’ve been sending me. Britney, if you won’t treat me well, don’t expect me to treat you any better. I don’t respond when you insult me—not because I can’t, but because I won’t waste my energy on pointless…”

“But now that you’re no longer married to my brother, I don’t have to tolerate you anymore. Blocking you was my decision. Do you understand what I’m saying?” Autumn’s calm and measured tone stunned Britney. The Autumn Britney described sounded more like the timid nanny; someone who wouldn’t dare talk back, even when insulted. It was less about submission and more like someone who simply wouldn’t lower herself to argue with a fool.

To Serena, Autumn’s earlier demeanor seemed less… Even one word in response would have been too much effort. Of course, there was no way she could say that to Britney.

Britney was completely caught off guard by Autumn’s words. She stood there stunned for a few seconds before her expression darkened. Gritting her teeth, she snapped, “If anyone’s doing the blocking, it should be me! Not the other way around, especially when I was still trying to reach out!”

“That’s your perspective. But it has nothing to do with me. I blocked you because I’m done putting up with your random insults. Simple as that.”

Bonney’s head buzzed with fury.

“I’ve made myself clear. If you still think I’m the problem, then you’re just being unreasonable,” Autumn said coldly. Then, she walked over to the pastry section and began helping herself. Her form-fitting gown accentuated her figure, and with her stomach still empty, a few bites wouldn’t make a difference; an Autumn without holding back.

Burney watched Autumn walk away without so much as trying to comfort her. The lack of concern made her so furious that she felt like flipping the table.

Buena quickly led her back. “Book a private room for you at the bar later. You can smash all the bottles you want. My treat. But please, just hold it in for now.”

“Of course I know that! I’m not going to stop! I still have some dignity, and couldn’t dare to cause a scene here!”

“Okay, okay, don’t be mad,” Serena urged gently.

“Toad! It feels like my chest is about to explode! Autumn, that bitch! Is she insane? She’s completely lost it! The whole world has gone crazy!”

Seni had known Driuszy since middle school and was all too familiar with her outbursts. When Britney got rational and fired up, the only thing to do was agree with her.

“Te, Autumn’s sorry!” Serena blurted out, quickly adding to Hansell, “Sorry, Autumn, I don’t mean…”

Serena construed. “She’s your sister-in-law, so she should be more understanding. Why is she being so petty and blocking you like that?”

“Honestly, Autumn, get it. Most people would find her difficult to deal with,” Serena added silently.

Like always, Serena went along with Britney’s rant; just like always, it worked. Britney’s mood lifted, and she finally calmed down enough to listen. Ena openly advised her, “There’s no need to poke over things. Getting angry like this will only give you breast lumps and breakouts. No…”

“Besides, usually when someone is inconsiderate and we don’t like it, we just slap them. She only blocked you, so it didn’t actually harm you. And honestly, as your sister-in-law, I don’t think she should have blocked you in the first place.”

Now that’s a real loss.
