Chapter 63

Dawson had embarrassed Rice in front of Autumn earlier, so I was feeling a little disgruntled. “Get lost,” Dawson brushed Rico’s hand aside and walked ahead. Rice was speechless. From what he’d heard, Damien had no interest in Autumn and was currently dating someone from the Maxom family.

Besides, Autumn had been jogging around Flery Residences, and Damien didn’t even live there. If he did, Dawson would have moved away long ago. Autumn and Damien were already living apart, so divorce seemed inevitable. This meant the chances of Autumn and Dawson ending up together were actually pretty high.

Rico had worked hard to bring them together, partly because he genuinely thought they were a good match, and partly because Dahlia had begged him to convince Dawson to start dating. Marriage wasn’t necessary—just dating would be enough.

From Bakka’s perspective, Dawson was a hopeless case. He had been single for years and had never shown interest in anyone. With a love life as high as his, relationships probably seemed like an inefficient use of time. He didn’t seem interested in relationships at all.

Kiev suspected that even when he became a father one day, Dawson would still be on his own. It didn’t feel right to let him live that way, so Rico took it upon himself to play matchmaker. Still, he had to be careful. If he pushed too hard, Dawson might end their friendship.

Ever since Autumn got married, she hadn’t attended any large-scale galas. Olivia had offered to hire a makeup artist, but Autumn turned her down. She could easily replicate a simple, refreshing look by following online tutorials.

Olivia recalled that Autumn had once mentioned how Virginia had arranged for her to learn art. Besides that, Autumn had also picked up other traditionally difficult skills that usually took years to master. Under Virginia’s guidance, Autumn had always been brilliant. The two had been very close, which was why Virginia’s suicide had left Autumn devastated.

“Has any of your contracts been affected?” Autumn had called Olivia to ask about this. Damien moved fast. A few deals she was about to close just fell apart. She gritted her teeth. “Once this is over, I’ll never work with those companies again!”

Jumin’s expression darkened. “That’s why your deals fell apart. We’ll act according to our plan.” When Autumn had first shared the plan, Olivia had already had a few drinks. Man, though, was she fully onboard.

“Autumn, I don’t regret offending Emilia. You know me. Even if I knew Damien would retaliate, I would’ve still said what I said—no second thoughts. So this really isn’t your fault.”

“But are you sure you want to use Dawson for my sake? I’ve heard stories. Anyone who crosses him either goes bankrupt or disappears from high society altogether. He’s even more ruthless.”

“Just leave me in. It’s only a few contracts. I’m not going bankrupt. I’ll survive.” The monetary losses Olivia faced weren’t substantial. But it was a clear message to the industry that Mega Tech had offended the Caldwell Group. In the competitive tech world, there were plenty of alternatives. No one wanted to risk upsetting a powerful conglomerate like the Caldwell Group just to work with Mega Tech.

Jutumn knew how seriously Olivia took her career. That was why they needed to fix things as soon as possible. “I’ve already spoken to Jamie. He’s willing to help,”

“But you’d be the mastermind,” Oliris said. “You really don’t have to take such a risk.”

“I’ve worked with Jamie. He knows what he’s doing and how to keep a secret. He’s agreed to help you, that means he’s prepared to handle the fallout. Don’t worry,”

Hearing that, Olivia felt an immense sense of relief. It was as if she had a major burden lifted. Just half a month ago, she’d been trapped in an unhappy marriage. Olivia had been so worried for her.
