Chapter 392
Winifred frowned, genuinely puzzled by people's continued belief in such things. She refused without hesitation. "He'll be fine. Just get him inside and let the doctors do their job," she stated.
"Look, kid, we'll pay you fifteen million dollars. All you have to do is sit here a while until my son wakes up," Diane said, her superstition unconcealed. But Winifred was genuinely afraid the priest's words might come true. 'Better safe than sorry,' she thought.
Winifred was about to refuse again, but Diane looked ready to kneel. Left with no choice, Winifred agreed.
Doctors and nurses came and went. Winifred watched as Diane, a devout believerโliving a vegetarian diet and chanting scripturesโknelt before a Jesus statue, praying desperately for Sean.
"Mr. and Mrs. Lecter, your son is out of danger. He needs rest and should wake tomorrow," the doctor finally announced.
At those words, Diane breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Miss. Here's the fifteen million I promised you. You saved my son's life. If you ever need anything, just contact the Lecter family," Diane said, handing over a card.
Winifred took the card. "That's not necessary. It was the least I could do."
Sunlight streamed through the hotel room, and Aiden slowly opened his eyes, rubbing his sore waist. "What the hell happened? I remember getting drunk last night. And now I'm in a hotel," he thought, piecing things together.
Aiden turned and saw Demi lying beside him. A surge of anger flared. "This woman is way out of line, taking advantage of me while I was drunk? How shameless!" he thought, his face darkening.
His face flushed with anger, Aiden threw off the covers, but Demi clung to him like a snake. "Baby, where are you going? Just bailing after having your fun?" she mocked.
Demi was thoroughly satisfied. 'No wonder I fell for him at first sightโhe's totally my type,' she thought, her eyes full of appreciation and desire.
Aiden, furious, shoved her away. "Demi, you know exactly what happened last night. Move asideโI'm going home now," he snapped.
Demi smirked, her eyes lingering on his body. "Mr. Hart, I really gave you my all last night. I've never served a man like that beforeโyou're the first, not even my husband," she said, her voice sultry.
Demi was completely captivated by him and had nothing to hide. Aiden's eyes widened in shock as he stood, his hands trembling as he pointed at her. "What? You have a husband?!" he blurted.
"She's got a husband, and she's still fooling around? Does she have any shame?" he thought, his disgust growing. He might not be special, but he'd never get involved with a married woman. It was basic decency. This woman disgusted him.

Realizing her misunderstanding, Demi quickly explained, "He's dead! Really, he's dead! I'm single now, Mr. Hart. You can check if you don't believe me."
Hearing this, Aiden relaxed and began to dress. "Whatever happened last night is in the past. We don't owe each other anything now," he said firmly. He had no intention of further involvement. As far as he was concerned, it was settled.
Demi cupped her face, grinning as she swung her legs. "Sorry, Mr. Hart, but that's not happening. Didn't your daughter tell you? Our families are to be tied together by marriage. Marry me! I don't want anything from you, and I'll give you everything you could ever want."
Aiden was fuming.
