Chapter 368
Lana said, โFay, being loyal to Miss Hart is our mission. Donโt ever forget who gave you your life. She can grant it, and she can take it away just as easily.โ
โYes, I understand. From now on, I'll only mind my own business,โ Fay replied.
Fayโs eyes dimmed with disappointment. Just being able to stay by her side and serve her is already the greatest blessing I could hope for, he thought to himself.
I shouldnโt yearn for things that were never meant to be mine, he reminded himself.
Meanwhile, Clark had already slipped away, but not before making sure Thorn got the antidote. Boss, we almost got busted, he thought.
Good thing he was a master of disguise. Nobody could see through his act.
โHazel, youโre here. Have you gotten all the poison out of your system?โ Thorn asked anxiously.
But what Thorn really wanted to know was whether she had been with someone else that night.
โIโm fine now. Iโll be heading back in a few days. Thorn, you should spend more time with your parents,โ Hazel said.
Thornโs face went pale at her words. He tumbled off the bed and threw his arms around her.
โIf you dare leave me, Iโll just die right in front of you,โ he blurted out, half-threatening, half-pleading.
Sienna let out a helpless sigh, closed her eyes, and pushed him away.
โThorn, we both have our own lives to live,โ she said.
โNo! Iโm not letting you go. Wherever you go, Iโm going too,โ Thorn insisted stubbornly.
Hazel caught a whiff of a scent on herself that didnโt belong to her. Her eyes widened, and her trembling hand instinctively gripped her own arm.
Thorn demanded, โYou! You were with him, werenโt you?โ
His voice was trembling, teetering on the edge of breaking down. He was asking, but deep down, he already knew the answer.
He knew that if she didnโt want to, no one could ever force her.
Sienna looked into his eyes, seeing the hope there about to break, and hit him with the truth he couldnโt bear.
โYes, I already haveโฆโ she started.
โDonโt say it. Just donโt!" Thorn shouted, cutting her off, his eyes burning with anger and desperation as he glared at her.
He shook his head in disbelief. โNo! Thatโs not true! Nothing happened. Canโt we just go back to how things were before?โ
Thorn simply couldnโt accept it. He would never accept that there was someone else by her side.
No way. Not ever.
Sienna slapped him hard across the face.
Thornโs head snapped to the side, his eyes hollow and crazed.
โThorn, go live your own life,โ Sienna said.
With that, she turned to leave, but Thorn, ignoring everything else, rushed forward and grabbed her again, locking her tightly in his arms.
His voice was pitiful and desperate as he pleaded, โHazel, please, you canโt just leave me all alone. I love you. I love you so much. I canโt live without you.โ
Sienna had reached the end of her patience. She was just about to act when she spotted Thornโs parents approaching.
โLet go! Someoneโs coming,โ she hissed.
It was only when he saw his own parents that Thorn finally let go of Sienna.
โHazel, we heard this brat ended up in the hospital. How is he doing now?โ Thornโs father asked.
โItโs all good now. You donโt have to worry,โ Sienna replied.
As night fell, Sienna handed the last document to Lana and let out a yawn. She was just about to head into her room to sleep when she suddenly sensed someone inside.
She whipped out her gun in a flash. Who could possibly sneak into my room without making a sound? she thought, instantly on alert.
There, sitting at the table, was a figure pouring wine.
It was Thorn.
Sienna jammed the gun against his head, her tone icy.
โWho said you could come in!โ
Thorn raised his glass, swirling the wine, fixing her with a deep, unreadable gaze.
โHazel, hey, relax. I just wanted to have a drink with you. Come on, just sit down and have one with me.โ
Sienna cocked the gun, her eyes icy cold. โGet out.โ
Thorn drained the wine in one gulp, stood up, and a dark, almost deranged smile twisted across his gloomy face.
โGo on, shoot me right between the eyes. One shot, send me straight to hell."
