Chapter 360
Winifred nodded, her eyes darkening. It seemed like Fay had different feelings for her sister.
Is it really just an absence of emotions? Winifred wondered. She remembered hearing about an experimentโa cruel one that turned people into emotionless machines. In the end, everyone who conducted the experiment died.
โWeโll come see him again tomorrow. Letโs head out.โ
โAlright.โ Winifred hooked her arm through Siennaโs, shooting Julian a displeased look as she purposefully pulled Sienna a little further away from him.
Julian, without betraying any emotion, slowed his steps and trailed behind them.
Back at the villa, Winifred noticed Julian following them and asked with a frown, โDonโt tell me youโre coming in with us.โ
She crossed her arms over her chest, fixing Julian with a sharp glare.
Julian asked honestly. โCanโt I?โ
โNo way, obviously not,โ Winifred shot back.
Julian turned his head to look at Sienna, his eyes showing a trace of aggrieved hurt.
โWhat are you staring at? Hurry up and leave,โ Winifred snapped.
She stepped protectively in front of Sienna, thinking, โShameless. Trying to use that face to charm Sienna.โ
A flicker of something unreadable flashed in Siennaโs usually cool eyes. โWinifred, heโs my friend. Let him in.โ
Winifred shot Julian a vicious glare.
Julian gave a polite smile, warm and soothing, like a gentle spring breeze. Every little gesture radiated his gentle nature.
Watching the two of them walk side by side, Winifred felt jealousy bubbling up inside her, like someone was stealing away the person she cared about most.
Her heart felt stuffy and miserable.
โMiss Winifred, please donโt be upset. A few days ago, Miss Sienna ran into some trouble, and Mr. Ford helped her out. Thatโs why she let him stay,โ Reno explained.
After hearing that, all the gloom and jealousy in Winifredโs heart vanished instantly.
โSo it was just because of a debt of gratitude,โ Winifred thought.
Just as she was about to go inside, a voice called out from behind her, โWait, wait for me.โ
It was Sean Lecter.
What is he doing here? Winifred wondered.
โStop right there! Who said you could follow us?โ Winifred frowned, her cold gaze landing on him.
Sean shrank his neck. โIโm broke. My phone was pawned to pay for the clothes you bought me, and my people wonโt be able to pick me up for a few more days. So I came to borrow some money from my cousin.โ
Winifred was at a total loss for words.
Julian handed him a card. โFive million. That should cover your expenses for the next few days.โ
Sean glanced at the lavish villa, with all its bodyguards and tight security, and asked cautiously, โJulian, are you living with your wife?โ
Julian replied. โWe donโt have that kind of relationship yet. Donโt call her your wife, or it might cause misunderstandings. Just call her Miss Hart.โ
Sean nodded. His cousin was the absolute bestโgentle, refined, polite, always so humble and gracious. Honestly, he was the perfect guy in every possible way. Heโd looked up to him ever since he was a kid.
โIโve already asked Clark to send a few people over to protect you. You donโt have to worry about anything these next few days,โ Julian said.
Sean was genuinely moved. โJulian, youโre the best.โ
โGo ahead,โ Julian said.
โOkay,โ Sean replied.
Winifred listened to their conversation, lowering her gaze. She couldnโt help but admit that Julian really was a good guy. He wasnโt pushy, but he wasnโt a pushover.
โMiss Winifred, Iโm cooking later. Is there anything youโd like to eat?โ Julian asked.
Winifred huffed. โWhatever,โ and stomped upstairs to find Sienna, thinking, โNo way youโre buying me off that easily.โ
โSienna, do you like Julian?โ Winifred asked bluntly.
Sienna paused mid-signature, looked up at her, and said, โYeah, I like him.โ
Winifred thought, โI knew it. Ever since that guy showed up, sheโs been different around him!โ
โSoโฆ Would you leave us to be with him?โ Winifred asked, her voice awkward and uncertain. Deep down, she felt sensitive and fragile, afraid that now Sienna was back, someone else might take her away again.
Sienna wrapped her arm around Winifredโs shoulders and pulled her into a hug. โNo, Iโll never leave you. Not ever.โ
