Chapter 359
It was his cousin.
โJulian!โ Sean shot up and sprinted toward him. โJulian, man, I missed you.โ
Julian frowned. โWhat are you doing here?โ
Sean, still filthy from the fight, moved to hug him.
Julian took two steps back. โWhat do you think youโre doing?โ
โJulian, you have no idea what Iโve been through tonight. I was this close to being six feet under,โ Sean whined dramatically. He just wanted a hug, but his cousin wasnโt even offering a little comfort. He used to be the one whoโd help him clean up after he wet the bed as a kid.
โAhem. What happened?โ Julian asked.
As Sean was about to explain, he noticed Sienna standing next to his cousin. His eyes nearly popped out of his head as he pointed at her. โItโsโฆ itโs you.โ
Sienna Hart. The woman his cousin was obsessed with.
โDo you know me?โ Sienna asked, turning to look at him.
Sean grinned. โYou must be Sienna. Iโve seen your picture in my cousinโs room. He told me youโre the girl heโs into.โ
A blush crept up Julianโs neck. โAhem. This is my cousin, Sean Lecter.โ
โNice to meet you,โ Sienna greeted.
"Sienna Winifred" walked out.
Sienna strode over to her, looking her over from head to toe for any serious injuries.
โWinifred, Iโm so glad youโre okay,โ Sienna said, finally letting out a breath of relief.
โSienna, I didnโt know he was one of yours. I thought he was here to capture me, but he ended up getting hurt to save me. Heโs in surgery now,โ Winifred said.
Sienna stroked her hair. โHeโll be fine, donโt worry. His name is Fay Santos. He works for me."
โYou knew I left the country all along, didnโt you?โ Winifred asked, a little sheepish. Winifred felt a pang of guilt. Sheโd run off without telling her.
โYes.โ Sienna didnโt press the issue. People had to do what they had to do, and it wasnโt her place to interfere as long as they were safe.
The operating room door opened, and the surgeon came out.
โFamily? The patient is stable, but the wound is very deep. He should avoid any strenuous activity for the next year, or he risks permanent disability.โ
Lana nodded. โOkay, thank you, doctor. We understand.โ
โSienna, you and himโฆโ Winifred observed the new dynamic between her sister and Julian. It was different from before. Were they together?
That Julian Ford sure worked fast. It hadnโt been that long, and he was already by her sisterโs side. But if he wanted to be a permanent fixture, heโd have to get through her first.
โSo youโre Siennaโs sister,โ Sean said, walking up to Winifred. โThank you for tonight. If you hadnโt saved me, Iโd probably be pushing up daisies right now.โ
But the warmth in Winifredโs expression vanished when she turned to him. โOne million dollars,โ she said coldly. โHereโs my account number. Wire it.โ
The smile on Seanโs face froze. He took the card she held out, laughing awkwardly. โRight. Okay,โ Sean replied. Heโd never met a woman who could flip a switch so fast. Women were impossible to figure out.
โSienna, he saved me.โ Winifred said, her tone softening again as she spoke to her sister. โI owe him one.โ
Winifred glanced at the platinum-blond man lying in the hospital bed. His skin was fair, his features delicate and soft, but he didnโt seem capable of smiling. He looked like an automaton, his face a perfect, emotionless mask.
Sheโd been around people who lived in the shadows; she could tell at a glance that Fay Santos was hiding something.
Sienna explained. โI rescued him from a human experimentation lab ten years ago and trained him to be my aide. He suffers from a kind of emotional numbness. Heโs been with me ever since. A while back, he made a mistake, so I sent him to Eastria. I never expected him to run into you there."
