Chapter 302
Nina stared straight at his handsome face, not looking away for a second. That face was so flawless, she couldn't find a single thing wrong with it. She was 31, still had time to have a baby, and she was sure the two of them would have an adorable little one together. That would be her fourth baby.
But Julian, expressionless, turned sideways and walked right past her. "Crazy woman," he muttered.
Nina's face froze. "Stop right there. Julian, who are you calling a crazy woman? I'm your fiancรฉe!"
"Making things up. Shameless," he snapped.
Clark parked the car and rushed over. When he heard that, he stomped his foot.
"Pfft, who do you think you are, calling yourself Mr. Ford's fiancรฉe? You're justโฆ"
"Who the hell are you? Julian, I order you to apologize to me right now, and maybe I'll let it slide. Otherwise, don't push me to break off the engagement," Nina shouted.
Julian stopped in his tracks, a cold, dangerous edge flickering in his usually gentle eyes.
"Ma'am, are you crazy or something? Do I even know you? If someone told you about a marriage, go talk to them, not me," he said coldly.
"You want to call off the engagement? Julian, how dare you say I'm crazy? Have you even looked around Vallaris? Who else would even consider marrying you? You're a nobody. The whole Ford family belongs to your brother, you're just an empty shell with nothing to your name. And you still have the nerve to look down on me?" Nina snapped.
Nina was honestly into his looks, she didn't even mind that he was a grown man with nothing to his name, not even a job or a career. And yet, he still dared to give her that condescending look.
Julian hadn't realized his reputation had gotten this bad. No wonder people kept whispering behind his back whenever they saw him. After all these years away, Levi really had set him up for a nasty surprise.
"Yeah, I'm a nobody, got nothing. But what does that have to do with you? Ma'am, show some self-respect. If you really can't control yourself, I suggest you go to Sundara or somewhere like that. Maybe you can find someone there to fulfill your random engagement fantasies," Julian shot back.
"How dare you humiliate me!" Ninaโs face turned ugly with rage.
Clark almost burst out laughing. Julian rarely spoke, but when he did, he left people completely embarrassed.
Julian strode off, but Nina chased after him again. "Julian, how dare you humiliate me like this? Aren't you afraid I won't let you walk out of the Bayer family's doors today? You should know what happens if you cross me."
Nina threatened. She was only being polite because of his handsome face. If he didn't look charming, she wouldn't even bother talking to him.
Julian replied casually, "Just wait and see."
Ninaโs face went gloomy, her whole body trembling with rage, her cheeks burning red. She shouted, "I heard from Levi that you've got a thing for Miss Sienna. Do you even know your place? Someone wants me to let the real man deal with you! See you daring to even think about her? Word is, her husband's here tonightโฆ"
That made Julian freeze mid-step. The usual warmth and calm on his face turned dark and menacing in an instant โ that mix of anger and cold cruelty was enough to send chills down anyone's spine.
Julian looked back to her. "Looks like Levi's been pretty generousโฆ"
How could he turn on me so suddenly! she wondered.
Julian looked at Nina with utter contempt, "You've already sent two husbands to their graves. What, life's been too easy for you lately? Sure, I might not have much say in the Ford family, but getting rid of someone like youโa nobody from a minor branch of the Clare family! That'd be effortless."
"Julian? You're threatening me?" Nina stammered.
Ridiculous, heโs just an outcast from the Ford family. Where would he even get the power to threaten me? Heโs just bluffing, she wondered.
"Julian, what could you possibly do to me? Iโll spill your nasty little intentions for everyone to see, let them all know what kind of person you really are. You dare to look down on me? Iโve been married three times, got three kids, so what? The fact that Iโd even consider you is a blessing for you," she shouted.
Clark stormed forward, ready to argue. He'd never met such a shameless woman in his life. "Absolutely disgraceful," he fumed. "If I were the type who never hits women, I'd have given her a couple of slaps right now. A woman like her isn't even worthy to shine Julian's shoes. And she still has the guts to run her mouth."
Julian stopped Clark with a hand and said coolly, "You'd better start figuring out how to get out of here."
His words made no sense to Nina; she was totally baffled. "What's that supposed to mean, Julian? If anyone here is crazy, it's you and your whole messed-up family," she shot back.
Right as she was talking, her phone started ringing urgently. The moment she answered, her eyes went wide. "No way. That's impossible. Say that again," she shouted into the phone.
