Chapter 701
Hank, wary of overstepping, nodded. "I'll go see Gareth first and update you if there are any changes."
"Good."
Gareth's arrival in Warrington was critical, necessitating immediate confinement. His knowledge of sensitive information from international offices, coupled with his eagerness for a meeting, indicated significant matters requiring discussion. However, Caden prioritized his dinner with Alicia over this pressing business, having booked their usual table at their favorite restaurant.
What should have been an hour was reduced to forty minutes due to incessant phone calls. Alicia, thoughtful, suggested, "You should head out. We've finished eating anyway."
Caden inhaled deeply. "Stay here a bit. I'll arrange for the driver to pick you up."
Alicia rose to bid him farewell silently. The air had grown colder; the rain, falling for days, prompted her to fasten his coat more tightly around him. Caden perceived her hesitancy and concern. He gently caressed her hand, asking, "Do you miss me?"
Alicia laughed, looking up at him. "We're together all the time. Is there anything to miss?"
Though her tone was light, their eyes locked intensely, neither willing to break the gaze. Each moment felt laden with significance, as if they wished to merge and remain so forever. Internally, Alicia wondered, "I do miss you, Caden. How much longer will this last? When will we be free of this chaos?"
With some reluctance, Caden pressed her hand. "My uncle knew about the situation and reached Joy Mansion last night. His support will help me relax."
Alicia inquired, "How can I support you?"
"Just stay well and healthy," Caden replied with a carefree smile. "After this is over, I plan to spoil you rotten, keeping you in bed for days."
Alicia playfully punched him. "You're not just hoping for a daughter; you're clearly following your own desires."
Caden didn't argue. "I often think back to our time in the car. It seems preparing for a baby will take about six months if I'm to be fully ready."
Alicia's cheeks flushed. "You dream big."
