โAre you cold?โ
โNo, Iโm fine.โ
They held each other close, their body heat mingling. Alicia felt a thrill of excitement, certain Cadenโs surprise would be wonderful. They walked for some time. The sound of a heavy door swinging open echoed.
Alicia tilted her head. โCould it be an amusement park?โ she wondered aloud. Who would keep an amusement park open this late? Yet, considering Cadenโs wealth, it seemed entirely possible heโd booked the entire place.
She chuckled. โAre you taking me to ride the Ferris wheel? They say making a wish at the top ensures a lasting relationship.โ
A hint of a smile played on Cadenโs lips. โThatโs quite a clichรฉ.โ
Alicia laughed heartily. โEven if it is, if itโs something you choose, Iโll cherish it.โ
Caden paused. Her words, though perhaps overly sweet, were endearing. Alicia had lost track of how far theyโd walked. Then, she sensed theyโd entered an elevator; it ascended for nearly a minute before stopping. As the doors slid open, a strong gust of wind hit them.
โThe wind is so strong,โ she said. โAre we on a rooftop?โ Deprived of her sight, her other senses sharpened.
Caden grunted. โJust a few more steps, then Iโll remove the blindfold.โ
Alicia hesitated. โWhat kind of surprise is this?โ
โBe patient. Youโll see very soon.โ
โYouโre not planning something bad, are you?โ she asked, noting, โItโs the middle of the night, on a rooftop.โ
Caden was momentarily speechless. She was delightful, yet she had a knack for deflating the moment. He gently released her hands. Feeling vulnerable, Alicia clutched her clothing.
โCaden, where are you going?โ
