Chapter 566
Once the laughter subsided, she tried to regain her composure. “I’m still mad,” she said. “Let’s be serious.” But Monica hadn’t finished chuckling when Caden’s call came through again. Alicia finally answered.
Caden asked, “Where are you?”
Alicia raised an eyebrow. “I’m at home.”
Caden’s tone was skeptical. “Are you sure?”
Alicia retorted, “Why are you asking if you don’t believe me?”
Caden fell silent for a moment. Then, “If I get home and don’t see you, tonight I’ll… well, let’s just say it’ll be quite the night.”
Alicia’s heart skipped a beat. Blushing, she glanced at Monica, who had been eavesdropping, and hung up. Monica, stifling laughter with a hand over her mouth, eyes crinkling with mirth, exclaimed, “Oh my gosh! Six times in one night? Even a marathon runner would be wiped out!”
Alicia’s cheeks burned. She hadn’t expected such a suggestive comment. “No, he’s not that impressive,” she replied, her voice faltering slightly.
Monica, noting Alicia’s flushed cheeks, remembered a time when Alicia and Caden were at their best, when every day together had been cherished. With a playful grin, she leaned against Alicia. “So, tell me,” she asked, “which position do you like best?”
Alicia had initially intended to tease Monica, expecting her single friend to shy away from such a topic. To her surprise, Monica plunged right in. Alicia quickly changed the subject. “Have you seen Corey trending online recently?”
Monica perked up, and the two gossiped for a while, mostly condemning Corey’s actions and agreeing he deserved his fate. Even his good looks couldn't save him from the notoriety of his crude and unethical behavior.
“I heard they’re looking for a chip repair engineer,” Monica said suddenly. “Didn’t you work on that chip project, Alicia? Do you think you’re up for it?”
