Chapter 566
Once the laughter subsided, she tried to regain her composure. โIโm still mad,โ she said. โLetโs be serious.โ But Monica hadnโt finished chuckling when Cadenโs call came through again. Alicia finally answered.
Caden asked, โWhere are you?โ
Alicia raised an eyebrow. โIโm at home.โ
Cadenโs tone was skeptical. โAre you sure?โ
Alicia retorted, โWhy are you asking if you donโt believe me?โ
Caden fell silent for a moment. Then, โIf I get home and donโt see you, tonight Iโllโฆ well, letโs just say itโll be quite the night.โ

Aliciaโs cheeks burned. She hadnโt expected such a suggestive comment. โNo, heโs not that impressive,โ she replied, her voice faltering slightly.
Monica, noting Aliciaโs flushed cheeks, remembered a time when Alicia and Caden were at their best, when every day together had been cherished. With a playful grin, she leaned against Alicia. โSo, tell me,โ she asked, โwhich position do you like best?โ
Alicia had initially intended to tease Monica, expecting her single friend to shy away from such a topic. To her surprise, Monica plunged right in. Alicia quickly changed the subject. โHave you seen Corey trending online recently?โ
Monica perked up, and the two gossiped for a while, mostly condemning Coreyโs actions and agreeing he deserved his fate. Even his good looks couldn't save him from the notoriety of his crude and unethical behavior.
โI heard theyโre looking for a chip repair engineer,โ Monica said suddenly. โDidnโt you work on that chip project, Alicia? Do you think youโre up for it?โ
