Chapter 565:
Her nose tingled with emotion as her voice softened. โMaybe heโs right. Weโre not getting married anyway. Marrying into the Moss family could solve a lot of unnecessary heartache.โ
Cadenโs heart tightened sharply at her words. He didnโt blame Alicia for being angry with his uncle; Benedict, as an elder, had no business meddling in his personal affairs. The thought of Alicia secretly weeping left Caden uneasy. โWhere are you?โ
Alicia retorted, โWhy? Just because your uncle didnโt hit me last time, you want to take your frustrations out on me?โ
Cadenโs eyelid twitched at her tone. โIโm not a fool, Alicia.โ
โYou are a fool!โ Alicia exclaimed. โI told you I wouldnโt go back, but you insisted! During dinner, your uncle wouldnโt stop ridiculing me, acting like Iโm some cheap, shameless woman who canโt live without you.โ
Caden replied slowly, choosing his words carefully. โYou canโt live without me. Thatโs the truth. No one else would dare touch you.โ
Alicia suddenly raised her voice. โIn your dreams!โ She hung up the phone and angrily tossed it aside.
Monica, sitting beside her, immediately retrieved the phone. โThis is the latest model in a limited edition color, my dear. You canโt just toss it around like that! What if it gets chipped?โ
Aliciaโs anger flared at the sight of the phone Caden had bought her. Her previous phone had broken, prompting an immediate replacement; then Caden had sent her a gorgeous light green device.
The phone buzzed. Caden was calling again. Monica grinned. โArenโt you going to answer?โ Alicia dismissed several calls. As Cadenโs name flashed repeatedly, Monica joked, โWow! Even Mr. Ward will call persistently to show his sincerity. I expected a domineering CEO to say, โAlicia, I command you to come back to me immediately. Otherwise, Iโll turn Warrington upside down and make everyone pay for it!โโ
Alicia was speechless. Monica burst into laughter, and despite herself, Alicia couldnโt help but join in.
