Alicia couldn't identify them, but their ability to send documents to Caden implied significant influence. She hesitated. Caden messaged, "If you're busy, I can handle it. It's no big deal." Alicia vehemently disagreed. While not a major problem given his capabilities, his involvement would further complicate their already fragile relationship. Since Caden sent the picture, she realized she'd inadvertently played into his hands; he knew her priorities. She eventually agreed to meet him, finding herself in a nearby city during a business trip. He chose a convenient restaurant and texted, "I'll arrive in an hour," including his location. This was the first time she shared her location with him.

Watching his location marker approach on her screen, she reflected. Despite their complicated relationship and infrequent meetings, Caden's presence felt pervasive. He'd actively sought her attention, and she couldn't ignore him. Had she softened toward him? The intense emotions that once brought her to tears had subsided, yet a lasting wound remained. She knew she could never truly capture his heart, concluding his sudden interest stemmed from her novelty.

"Ms. Bennett, the event is about to begin," Blake announced, startling her. She quickly put away her phone. "Alright, I'm ready." She had an hour and planned to use it productively. They were at a technology expo featuring industry leaders, an opportunity to expand her knowledge.

Blake observed, "You've been following developments in this field. Considering an investment?" Alicia shook her head. "Just browsing." Entering the venue, she saw individuals far more accomplished and innovations beyond her comprehension. The technological displays from various countries were awe-inspiring.

Blake admired, "Even with this impressive selection, Caden keeps his brand prominent. He truly understands the industry." His words struck a chord. At a high-end display, she felt an urge to touch it. A man intervened, "Excuse me, but you cannot touch that." Embarrassed, she withdrew her hand. "But a staff member said we could interact freely," she replied.
