Chapter 266

Once Caden left, her smile faded as she lay back down. He turned to the doctor, saying, "I bit my tongue. Can you treat the wound?" Yolanda had been hard on herself, causing significant injury. Recognizing his importance to Caden, the doctor did not dare neglect his care.

When no one was looking, Yolanda discreetly took a bottle of pills from the treatment room and swallowed two quickly. His body often reacted badly to medication; careless use could cause severe allergies or even death. After swallowing the pills, he couldn't help but laugh at the thought of what was about to happen.

Alicia sat alone, remembering Yolanda's look after Caden left. Yolanda had once asked, “Isn’t it your role to satisfy Caden?” Alicia hadn't believed it then, but Caden's behavior tonight proved Yolanda right. The realization struck Alicia like a blow, leaving her disoriented and unsure how she'd even left.

Just then, a taxi pulled up. The driver asked, “Ma’am, you’ve been standing here a while. Do you need a ride?” She realized she was on the side of the road, nodded her thanks, and got in.

Caden's call illuminated her screen. Alicia stared at his name, her eyes stinging, unable to cry. It took two calls before she answered. "Where are you?" Caden asked.

Alice didn't respond directly, instead asking, "Why are you calling?" The hoarseness in his voice was unmistakable, causing a sharp pang in Caden's chest. "I took Yolanda to Averibon for treatment. That's all," he explained.

Alicia's heart tightened at the memory of seeing him with Yolanda. "Then you should focus on her. I don't need your worry," she said.

Caden's breathing grew heavier as he fought back frustration. “Alice, stop playing games. I don’t have time for this right now.”

Alicia let out a quiet, bitter laugh. She took a deep breath and ended the call, clinging to the little pride she had left for them both.

The road was icy and the taxi crawled along. The driver warned, "Madam, wait. This road is dangerous. Many accidents happen here." Alice nodded. Moments later, a car lost control and swerved into their path. A deafening crash echoed. The taxi spun, skidded, and flipped. Alice's vision went dark, a loud ringing filling her ears.
