Chapter 34

Evelyn wasn't in great shape. Hermitian wasn't able to begin with, and she had devoted all her energy to preparing for tonight's banquet. Lucas had thrown her off her rhythm by bringing Tiffany.

Her body started to feel hot. She took out her medicine from her bag and mechanically tossed two pills into her mouth. She tried to suppress the aching feeling coming from her abdomen.

Not knowing how much time had passed, she realized she had missed a call from Sebastian. She picked up the second call.

"Sebastian,"

"Where are you?"

Uven looked at her sickly appearance in the mirror. “I’m outside. I’ll be right back,” he said.

"The entrance. There will be a separate dinner party later, but your husband and his mistress will be there, so it’s alright if you don’t go.”

Exclym considered. Having decided to return to this line of work, she wouldn't be able to avoid seeing Tiffany in the future. All she could do was give it her all.

Evelyn applied her makeup and went out after making sure everything was in place. Donald was also participating in this dinner party, so they chose to go to a low-profile restaurant that had private rooms. They booked a large room with two tables separated by a curtain.

Lucas and Tiffany were seated on the opposite side, so Evelyn finally had the chance to converse with Donald. Sebastian leaned in to whisper something into his ear. Donald saw Evelyn in a new light. “You’re…”

Her identity was a secret. He quickly schooled his expression and couldn’t help but exclaim, “It’s no wonder Mr. Hill thinks highly of you, Ms. Heed. Forgive me for not recognizing…”

Evelyn gave a faint smile. “It’s my pleasure to be acquainted with you, Mr. Stewart.”

Lucas’ group noticed Evelyn chatting happily with Donald. Even Tiffany glanced over at them several times. She felt that it was odd. What did Evelyn have in common with Donald to be able to converse with him?

“How pretentious. She almost had me fooled by her acting,” Mason laughed and glanced at Tiffany. “She has no understanding of policies, technology, nor Flying Small Group’s… ee. It’s impressive that she can still hold a conversation with Mr. Stewart.”

Tiffany smiled faintly and didn’t voice her thoughts. She knew what Mason meant; he implied that Evelyn was merely copying her, imitating Tiffany to a T after seeing how Tiffany had hit it off with Donald.

She didn’t care what Evelyn did. Lowering her voice, she told Lucas, “It’s a shame that Professor Hill isn’t here today.”

Lucas’ lips quirked up. “There’ll be many chances in the future, should you wish for it.”

Grasping what his words meant, Tiffany couldn’t help but give him a sweet smile.

On the other hand, Jason had an odd feeling. He gave Evelyn a lingering look, then asked Lucas, “Don’t you think Evelyn has been acting strange lately?” Lucas stroked his teacup and recalled the oddities he had observed the past few days. Evelyn no longer came home as often and stopped cooking for him. She had also stopped calling or texting him.

However, this situation might not last long. Some people caused trouble because they were used to doing so. However, Evelyn wasn’t that kind of person. She had always been obedient. She would always return and act as if nothing happened.

“Does it matter?” he asked indifferently.

Jason stared blankly at him and soon fell silent. Evelyn’s side finished ordering the food, and Donald continued conversing with Evelyn in a low voice.

That was when someone asked Evelyn, “Is Blake Harrison your brother, Ms. Heed?”

Evelyn raised her head and looked on. “Hmph.”

“I know right. There’s been a lot of talk about Mr. Harrison’s passionate romance with Ms. Clark lately. Mr. Clark has handed over his company’s major projects to Mr. Harrison. He’s practically training him like a son-in-law. Does this mean that we’ll be hearing news of Mr. Harrison’s wedding soon?”

She had no idea how to respond. Blake had changed, and he no longer told her anything about himself. She even had to hear news of him from someone else.

“I love… could you not know about… about your brother’s… Ms. Heed, are you keeping things under wraps for Mr. Harrison’s sake?” Evelyn was subconsciously reluctant to talk about Blake. She rubbed her aching abdomen and murmured to Sebastian, “Time to head to the restroom.”

She got up and hurried out. She felt as if thunder was rumbling inside her. He was allaying her beat to deal with a fever, but now she walked with a dizzy head. While walking, she lost the strength in her legs and collapsed. She accidentally knocked over the teapot placed on the table. A pair of arms caught her. The room was quickly filled with cries of alarm.
