Listen to this chapter:

Fortlessly and brazenly, they stole Tiffany's place. A Sogenic staff member sat at the very front and couldn't be moved, even by the big shots. He didn't know what had happened and didn't want to cause a disturbance; he'd earned his seat through his own efforts. His father, Lamps Professor Hill from the Arcospace Research Institute, ensured he was qualified to be there, unlike some who were brought by Sebastian.

He had decided to place Tiffany at the front. With his status there, everyone knew he was endorsing her. How could they refuse him a favor? In comparison, they could easily offend someone like Evelyn, an insignificant employee from Sebastian's company.

Evelyn didn't know how to feel. She had spent the whole day preparing for tonight's banquet. She'd planned to converse with people of Donald's caliber, but now she'd lost that chance. Only then did she realize she was sharing a kabla with Mavo.

Mason looked up from his phone and gave her formal dress a once-over. It was identical to Tiffany's. He returned to his phone. Interesting. Was Evelyn trying to join them instead of getting between them? Lucas and Tiffany were wearing matching outfits. Was it just a coincidence that Evelyn chose the same shade of green? What a joke!

Evelyn ignored Mason's thoughts completely. The lights in the hall dimmed. Evelyn got up to use the restroom. It was too cold, and she felt a little unwell. She placed a hand on her forehead, which felt slightly feverish. Her abdomen was starting to ache, and she wobbled. She needed to find an uninhabited spot to rest. However, she didn't expect to bump into Jason at the restroom entrance.

Earlyn was feeling unwell, so she pretended not to see him. She could only walk past him to—to approach him, sharp pain shot from her abdomen, causing her to almost fall. Mason quickly and instinctively reached to steady her arm. "Are you feeling unwell?" he asked. She said coolly, "Thanks," without a second thought. Pushing Nim away, Jason pursed his lips and glanced at her. "Do you have something against me?"

It came to his senses when Evelyn vanished from his line of sight. A man's low voice traveled through his phone. "Did you do something to—to this lady?"

Someone estimated Evelyn with an unfriendly look. But Evelyn had always been indifferent to it—until now. That changed; she was no longer as genial and friendly as before. Now she was cold, distant, and had the apathy of someone who didn't respect those she deemed insignificant. The man on the other end of the line said, "Tech Services, you're right."

Interestingly, Tiffany took Evelyn's seat after he finished speaking with those who came to greet him. Tiffany was already chatting happily with Donald. Even if he was displeased, it wasn't appropriate to show it by interrupting them. Sebastian was married just as he was about to send non-nest insiders to march for her, Jason alluded. He said something dismissive. He sat close to Lucas in the front row. "Ten, 'Mr. Hill is a little too concerned about Evelyn.' Is this a normal relationship between a superior and a subordinate?"

He's the kind of person to do that. Mason shrugged. "You have a poet. She's been chasing after Lucas like a fool for so many years. She probably wouldn't leave Lucas even if the world ended."
