Chapter 94

Daniel snorted coldly. “You’re feeling guilty already, are you? We’ll conduct a cross-examination with all parties present, in case you were thinking of slandering Mel’s good name again.”

Christopher gnashed his teeth, glaring at the lawyer and threatening him silently. He even texted the lawyer secretly, trying to influence his testimony regarding the handwriting. Unfortunately, Daniel saw everything.

He had Larry confiscate the lawyers' communication devices before examining the original documents. He also had the housekeepers prevent Christopher from approaching them.

Eventually, the lawyers reached a unanimous conclusion. One stood up and announced, “Mr. Fuller Senior, this is indeed Mr. Fuller’s signature.”

The news struck Christopher like a thunderbolt. His eyes were red-rimmed as he bellowed, “I never signed those papers! They’ve been forged! I’ll never accept it!”

Sheldon sighed, exasperated by Christopher’s hysteria. Christopher, the one who had signed the divorce papers, now refused to proceed. Daniel and Lane, however, accepted the divorce as final.

“I’ll submit the registration. Once the cooling-off period is over, I’ll send the Divorce Certificate to your office,” Daniel said, addressing Christopher. “No, Grandpa! You can’t do this! Melody and I aren’t divorced!” Christopher roared. “You were the one who asked me to marry her, and now you’re the one asking me to divorce her. How can you call all the shots?”

Daniel calmly replied, “I admit I forced you to marry Mel. But you signed the divorce papers. I played no part in that. I deeply regret it now. My only mistake was sacrificing two invaluable years of a young lady’s life to satisfy my selfish desire and force her to marry you.”

Christopher’s eyes widened in disbelief. Had Daniel just admitted to forcing Melody into marriage? It wasn't Melody who had forced Daniel to marry Christopher? This was the truth.

“Sheldon, get Christopher out of here. He mustn't contact Melody,” Daniel ordered, ushering them out.

Sheldon nodded, though he thought, “It’s been four days since I’ve tried locating her.”

Christopher was escorted out, practically chased by the housekeepers after he threatened to tear up the contract. He continued to deny signing the papers.

The room fell silent. Daniel sighed regretfully.

Larry, standing in a corner, said, “Mr. Fuller Senior, I think Mr. Fuller sincerely regrets his actions. Why don’t you try mediating for him? We all know people cherish what they’ve lost. Back then, Mr. Fuller couldn’t see how good Mrs. Fuller was. But he knows it now. They might even give you grandchildren.”

Daniel pondered. Most of his actions had been intended to scare Christopher into acknowledging his mistakes and regrets. The best outcome would be Melody forgiving Christopher and annulling the divorce.

“Send Mrs. Fuller a text message saying I’d like to discuss the divorce procedure with her,” Daniel instructed.

Larry complied, then made a phone call. This time, Melody answered.

“Hello, Mel. It’s me, Daniel,” he said gently.

“Mr. Fuller Senior, can’t you just handle the entire divorce procedure?” Melody asked coldly, avoiding pleasantries. Daniel felt a pang of sadness when he noticed her distance and that she no longer addressed him as “Grandpa.”
