Chapter 85

Christopher had sent a friend request earlier that day, but it was undeliverable. He'd been blocked.

“Melody, you’d better never show up again!” he muttered through gritted teeth.

When he returned home, Cynthia had already prepared a meal and eagerly urged him to eat. Seeing her dressed in Melody’s clothes, wearing the apron Melody had worn, he immediately stormed forward and violently tore the clothes from her.

Initially, she thought he'd come to his senses. Although his approach was rough, she didn't mind at first. But then she realized she was wrong. Her body was pinned against the ground as Christopher snarled, “Who allowed you to wear her clothes and use her things?”

Cynthia was terrified, tears spilling as she looked up at him. "Christopher," she pleaded, "What's wrong with you? Why are you treating me like this? I’ve worn Melody’s clothes before, and you never said anything. Why are you so angry today?"

Seeing her crying, he snapped back to reality. He hurriedly helped her up, but immediately let go.

“I’m really angry at Melody right now. Sorry for taking it out on you,” he said quietly.

Cynthia sighed in relief, thinking he was upset about her using Melody’s things, not because he was angered by seeing her. “I’m sorry, Christopher. I understand. I won’t wear them again,” she apologized, moving closer and taking his hand.

“Stop thinking about Melody. Let’s eat, alright? I’ll always be with you…”

Before she could finish, Christopher stepped back, pulling his hand away. She lost her balance and nearly fell.

“Go to bed early and don’t do anything unnecessary. If you have time to cook, you can pack your things instead; I’ve already arranged a place for you,” he said flatly, without emotion.

He went to the master bedroom and slammed the door.

At the dining table, Cynthia gritted her teeth in frustration, her fists clenched. The apron was torn, and her sleeves were ripped. It had begun as a hopeful moment, but he hadn’t even been moved, pushing her away.

“Melody, it’s all because of you! If it weren’t for you interfering, how could Christopher have fallen for you?” she thought. She nearly smashed the plate in her fury, but in the end, she only cleaned up and put it away.

In the middle of the night, Christopher woke up several times. After using the bathroom, he entered the small guest room. The bed was empty; only a mattress remained. He lay down, curling onto his side. No matter how he sniffed, there was no trace of Melody’s scent. “I miss Melody,” he thought.

The following day, he jumped up instinctively upon waking and realized where he was. The sleepy him from the night before felt completely disconnected from his daytime self. He clearly remembered how he'd ended up there. He also remembered, with shame and anger, how he had sniffed the mattress and air like a pervert.

He hurried through his morning routine, dressed quickly, and rushed out the door. His mind panicked as he fled in desperation. His ears burned, and his face flushed. This wasn’t normal. He had to be ill. Why had he slept in Melody’s room?

His actions replayed in his mind, especially the thought that had repeated just before he'd fallen asleep: “I miss Melody.”

“Damn it! I’ve truly lost my mind!” Christopher cursed inwardly.

Because of the previous night, he spent the whole morning with a dark expression. Sheldon was still searching for Melody across the city, state, and country, with no progress.
