Chapter 391 Debts Unspoken

Susieโ€™s voice trembled slightly. โ€œYouโ€™re only alive because of his mother. Do you understand? Itโ€™s not just me who owes himโ€”you owe him too.โ€

Jose froze. He had never heard any of this before and looked utterly confused. โ€œI donโ€™t understand what you mean.โ€

Susie gave a bitter smile. โ€œWendy and I were good friends. But back then, I was just like youโ€”proud and stubborn. Wendy outshone me in every way, and I couldnโ€™t accept it. I used to cause her trouble all the time. Once, I made a bet with her, and I ended up putting myself in serious danger. I really thought I was going to die. But in the end, it was Wendy who saved me. And because of that, she was targeted.โ€

As she recalled the past, Susie trembled uncontrollably. She didnโ€™t go into further detail but added, โ€œJose, thereโ€™s so much you donโ€™t know. But remember thisโ€”Johnathan doesnโ€™t owe us anything. We owe him. Donโ€™t let yourself go down that path again.โ€

She took a deep breath and continued, โ€œIโ€™ve already booked your flight and finished all the arrangements. Youโ€™re leaving the country in three days.โ€

After that conversation, Jose remained unsettled. He knew his mother wouldnโ€™t lie to him, so everything she said must have been true. But she was clearly still hiding more from him.

What could possibly scare her, even with the Wynn familyโ€™s status? When sheโ€™d mentioned getting into trouble, sheโ€™d looked genuinely afraid.

Should he really leave? He hadnโ€™t wanted to before, but now he was starting to think it might be better to disappear for a whileโ€”at least until everything blew over.

He had done things carefully. Surely no one could trace it back to himโ€ฆ right? Just as the thought crossed his mind, his phone rang.

It was a number he didnโ€™t recognize. At first, he didnโ€™t pick up, but then a message came through. โ€œIf you donโ€™t answer, youโ€™ll deal with the consequences.โ€

So when the call came again, Jose reluctantly answered. โ€œWho is this?โ€ he asked anxiously.

A familiar voice came through the line. โ€œJose, how could you forget me so quickly?โ€ โ€œQuinn!โ€ Jose immediately recognized her. โ€œThatโ€™s right! And I have to thank you, Jose.โ€

Her tone made Joseโ€™s expression change. He knew she was threatening him. In that moment, he regretted ever helping her escape. This woman was going to be trouble. โ€œYouโ€™ve got guts.โ€ Sheโ€™d just gotten away, and she was already coming to him again? โ€œI donโ€™t have a choice. I need your help.โ€ โ€œI canโ€™t help you.โ€

Jose was about to hang up when Quinn added, โ€œIf I get caught, it wonโ€™t end well for you either. You know how my brother is.โ€

Jose took a deep breath. โ€œWhat do you want?โ€ โ€œRelax. Iโ€™m not asking you to help me run. Iโ€™m not leaving just yet.โ€ โ€œThen quit wasting my time.โ€ โ€œAlright then. I want you to get my kid out.โ€

Jose immediately hung up. He didnโ€™t need to investigate to know that Dora was under heavy protection. Anyone else trying to get close would definitely be suspectedโ€”except him.

But if he took Dora away, there was no chance heโ€™d get away with it. He was supposed to leave in three days. He didnโ€™t want to stir up more troubleโ€”but things were quickly slipping out of his control.

At the hospital, Johnathanโ€™s condition had improved a lot. By the next day, he was transferred to a regular room. He looked better than he had yesterday, and Sierra stayed by his side the entire time. โ€œYou should go rest for a bit,โ€ Johnathan said, feeling a little guilty. โ€œI can rest here.โ€

The hospital room was no different from a hotel suiteโ€”it had a bathroom, kitchenette, and everything else. โ€œBesides, Iโ€™m not even tired.โ€

As she spoke, Sierra carefully took Johnathanโ€™s hand in hers. It was wrapped in gauzeโ€”no bones were broken, just cuts from the shattered window glass. Seeing how gently she handled his hand, Johnathan chuckled. โ€œIโ€™m not made of porcelain. You donโ€™t have to be that careful.โ€

Sierra ignored him and lightly squeezed his fingers before asking, โ€œSomething happened in the car, didnโ€™t it?โ€
