Chapter 310: The Return of Quinn
Susie gently patted Chaseโs hand. โSomeone has to back down. And truthfullyโฆ we do owe Jonathan.โ
Chase was silent for a long moment before finally murmuring, โIโm sorry. Iโve made you suffer too.โ
Unaware of the decision his parents had just made to send him abroad, Jose headed to his usual meeting spot with Shane. Shane was already there, sipping tea from his wheelchair, calm and composed.
Jose glanced at him with a mocking smirk. โMr. Shane really knows how to hold back.โ
Everyone said Shane was a madman, but Jose didnโt see it. He didnโt seem that unhingedโat least not when it came to Jonathan. Shane had been the one to get his legs broken, and even then, all heโd done was stir up some petty noise.
Shane didnโt rise to the insult. He smiled and said, โUnlike me, Mr. Jose is the apple of Wayne and Chaseโs eye.โ
Jose scoffed. Everyone thought he was the most favored, but whenever Jonathan entered the picture, he was pushed aside. His grandfather had always been biased. Now, even his father was the same. Outwardly, Chase seemed to resent Jonathan, but when it came down to real trouble, he always worried more about him.
โI got caught messing with Jonathan.โ
Shaneโs gaze sharpened slightly. โIs Mr. Jose giving up, then?โ
โWhy would I?โ Joseโs voice dripped with disdain. โThe more they tell me to stop, the more I want to keep going. They might owe Jonathan somethingโbut I donโt.โ
He had yielded for years. Back then, he admired Jonathan and looked up to him. He tried to model himself after him. But Jonathan had never once acknowledged him. Never spared him a glance. He wanted Jonathan to knowโhe wasnโt someone to be dismissed.
Shaneโs eyes flickered with interest. โOwe him? Owe him what?โ
Jose didnโt answer. Heโd already said too much. He wasnโt about to dig a deeper hole for himself.
Seeing that Jose wasnโt willing to talk more, Shane let it goโfor now. One day, he believed, Jose would reveal everything.
Instead, he changed the subject. โJonathan wonโt let this go quietly. Heโs not one to take a hit and walk away. Got a plan?โ
Jose nodded. โI used to think he was invincible. But not anymore. He has a weakness now, doesnโt he?โ
Until recently, he hadnโt thought much of Sierra. But after this incident, he realizedโshe was Jonathanโs Achillesโ heel.
โAs long as we control Sierra, we control him.โ
Shane didnโt respond immediately. He recalled the stubborn resolve in Sierraโs eyes, the painful marks on her body. He frowned slightly, though his tone remained even. โShe wonโt be easy to handle.โ
โYou said it yourselfโit wonโt be easy to break them. But once you plant the seed of doubt, itโs only a matter of time before they turn on each other.โ Jose smiled faintly. โIโve already called someone back.โ
He added, โThat person will definitely shake things up between them.โ
โOh?โ Shane chuckled, noncommittal, unsure whether to believe it or not.
Jose let out a cold snort. โYouโll see soon enough.โ
โI look forward to it.โ Shane raised his teacup with a smirk.

Whatever was said next made his face turn cold.
โAlright. Iโll pick you up from the airport tomorrow.โ
Finished
At that moment, Jonathan had been eating with Sierra and a few close colleagues. Sierra had arranged the dinner to thank everyoneโMateo, Draven, and the othersโfor helping manage the public crisis and coordinate with government officials.
Noticing the sudden shift in his expression, Sierra asked, โWhat happened?โ
โQuinnโs coming back,โ Jonathan replied.
Sierra blinked, unfamiliar with the name. But Mateo and the others clearly knew who she was.
โSheโs coming back now?โ Draven asked, frowning.
Seeing Sierraโs confusion, he explained, โQuinn is Jonathanโs younger sister. Sheโs a little younger than us. We all grew up together, but she moved abroad and rarely comes back.โ
That she was returning nowโout of the blueโwas suspicious.
Jonathan confirmed their hunch. โShe said sheโs bringing a lot of luggage. And a child. Asked me to pick her up.โ
โSheโs traveling alone with a kid? Whereโs her husband?โ Mateo asked instinctively.
Jonathan didnโt answer. The silence was heavy. Sierra didnโt know Quinn, but hearing she was Jonathanโs sister, she couldnโt help but feel uneasy.
