Chapter 258: The Little Old Man and the Dog
That night, the two of them were unusually wild and in sync, as if trying to make up for everything theyโd missed these past few days. The result? Sierra could barely keep her eyes open when she got to school the next morning. She kept yawning nonstop.
โDidnโt sleep well?โ Autumn glanced at her.
โYeah,โ Sierra nodded, a little guilty. โMy sleepโs been off lately.โ
The truth was, sheโd passed out the moment she hit the bedโbut she only got a little over two hours of sleep. She had no idea where Johnathan got all that energy from. He somehow kept going until four in the morning. Every single time he said, โThis is the last round,โ and every single time he lied.
Men really canโt be trustedโespecially in bed. Johnathan was the perfect example. Autumn didnโt think too much of it, though. She hadnโt been sleeping well either, but for a very different reason.
โWhat are we gonna do? The professorโs coming today.โ Just saying it made her wince. She still hadnโt finished the assignment he gave before he left. She could already imagine how badly she was going to get chewed out. It wasnโt just her either. Even the usually unbothered Qinghao looked a little tense. Which made Sierra nervous too. This professor sounded kind of terrifying. But Johnathan had never said that. Every time he mentioned his teacher, heโd just call him a chill old man.
Just as she was thinking that, a thin, spry little old man walked in, full of energy. Sierra had never met the professor before, but just from how her seniors snapped to attention, she could instantly tell who he was.
Professor Martin looked a bit stern. He swept his gaze around the room before landing on Sierra. Her breath hitched slightly. Then he said, โYou the girl that punk brought in?โ As he spoke, he gave her a once-over from head to toe. Then he muttered, โWhat a waste.โ
Sierra pressed her lips together. She wasnโt surprised. Lots of people thought she wasnโt good enough for Mr. Yaeger. But then Professor Martin added, โYour eyesight must be shot. Go get yourself a decent pair of glasses. Howโd a sweet girl like you end up with that little bastard?โ
Not just Sierraโeveryone froze. Wait, was the professor talking about Mr. Yaeger? Autumn couldnโt help herself. โBut Professor, didnโt you always say Johnathan was the most talented student youโve ever taught?โ
Professor Martin rolled his eyes and snorted. โHaving a brain doesnโt mean youโve got good character.โ Everyone looked like their world had just been turned upside down. Especially Erwin, who had practically idolized Johnathan. He looked like he wanted to argue, but didnโt dare go against the professor. So he turned to Sierra, hoping she, as Johnathanโs girlfriend, would defend him.
But all Sierra did was give a weird little smile. Seeing her reaction, Professor Martin knew right away that Sierra had already figured out what kind of person Johnathan really was. He clicked his tongue. โWhat an idiot,โ he muttered.
Sierra cleared her throat and said, โProfessor.โ Just that one word made Professor Martin visibly more relaxed. His face softened as he looked at her. โAt least youโve got some respect for your elders. Way better than that little punk.โ
Sierra couldnโt help smiling. The professor was actually pretty great. No wonder Johnathan always spoke so highly of him. Meanwhile, the rest of them were completely thrown off. They were starting to think Mr. Yaeger, the professor is talking about, wasnโt the same person of their version.
