Chapter 258: The Little Old Man and the Dog

That night, the two of them were unusually wild and in sync, as if trying to make up for everything theyโ€™d missed these past few days. The result? Sierra could barely keep her eyes open when she got to school the next morning. She kept yawning nonstop.

โ€œDidnโ€™t sleep well?โ€ Autumn glanced at her.

โ€œYeah,โ€ Sierra nodded, a little guilty. โ€œMy sleepโ€™s been off lately.โ€

The truth was, sheโ€™d passed out the moment she hit the bedโ€”but she only got a little over two hours of sleep. She had no idea where Johnathan got all that energy from. He somehow kept going until four in the morning. Every single time he said, โ€œThis is the last round,โ€ and every single time he lied.

Men really canโ€™t be trustedโ€”especially in bed. Johnathan was the perfect example. Autumn didnโ€™t think too much of it, though. She hadnโ€™t been sleeping well either, but for a very different reason.

โ€œWhat are we gonna do? The professorโ€™s coming today.โ€ Just saying it made her wince. She still hadnโ€™t finished the assignment he gave before he left. She could already imagine how badly she was going to get chewed out. It wasnโ€™t just her either. Even the usually unbothered Qinghao looked a little tense. Which made Sierra nervous too. This professor sounded kind of terrifying. But Johnathan had never said that. Every time he mentioned his teacher, heโ€™d just call him a chill old man.

Just as she was thinking that, a thin, spry little old man walked in, full of energy. Sierra had never met the professor before, but just from how her seniors snapped to attention, she could instantly tell who he was.

Professor Martin looked a bit stern. He swept his gaze around the room before landing on Sierra. Her breath hitched slightly. Then he said, โ€œYou the girl that punk brought in?โ€ As he spoke, he gave her a once-over from head to toe. Then he muttered, โ€œWhat a waste.โ€

Sierra pressed her lips together. She wasnโ€™t surprised. Lots of people thought she wasnโ€™t good enough for Mr. Yaeger. But then Professor Martin added, โ€œYour eyesight must be shot. Go get yourself a decent pair of glasses. Howโ€™d a sweet girl like you end up with that little bastard?โ€

Not just Sierraโ€”everyone froze. Wait, was the professor talking about Mr. Yaeger? Autumn couldnโ€™t help herself. โ€œBut Professor, didnโ€™t you always say Johnathan was the most talented student youโ€™ve ever taught?โ€

Professor Martin rolled his eyes and snorted. โ€œHaving a brain doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™ve got good character.โ€ Everyone looked like their world had just been turned upside down. Especially Erwin, who had practically idolized Johnathan. He looked like he wanted to argue, but didnโ€™t dare go against the professor. So he turned to Sierra, hoping she, as Johnathanโ€™s girlfriend, would defend him.

But all Sierra did was give a weird little smile. Seeing her reaction, Professor Martin knew right away that Sierra had already figured out what kind of person Johnathan really was. He clicked his tongue. โ€œWhat an idiot,โ€ he muttered.

Sierra cleared her throat and said, โ€œProfessor.โ€ Just that one word made Professor Martin visibly more relaxed. His face softened as he looked at her. โ€œAt least youโ€™ve got some respect for your elders. Way better than that little punk.โ€

Sierra couldnโ€™t help smiling. The professor was actually pretty great. No wonder Johnathan always spoke so highly of him. Meanwhile, the rest of them were completely thrown off. They were starting to think Mr. Yaeger, the professor is talking about, wasnโ€™t the same person of their version.
