Chapter 208: No Sympathy Left

Yulia clung to the window frame, her eyes filled with terror as Sierra approached. โ€œDonโ€™t come any closer! If you take another step, Iโ€™ll jump!โ€

โ€œThen jump,โ€ Sierraโ€™s voice was cold. โ€œThis is the 18th floor. If you jump, your bones will shatter on impact. But donโ€™t worry; you did at least feed me onceโ€”Iโ€™ll make sure your funeral is taken care of.โ€

Yulia was utterly devastated. โ€œHow can you be so heartless?โ€ She truly felt like she had nowhere left to go. She had thought her past life was miserable, but after experiencing homelessness, she realized things could always get worse.

Meanwhile, Sierra was thriving, basking in success. And every single person who recognized her pointed fingers, cursed her, and ridiculed her. She couldnโ€™t understand. She hadnโ€™t done anything wrongโ€”so why was the world against her? She was at the end of her rope, yet no one cared. Even her own mother had abandoned her.

Gritting her teeth, she hardened her resolve. Fine. If this was how the world treated her, then she might as well end it herself.

Just as she was about to let goโ€”a hand grabbed her wrist, yanking her away from the window. Sierraโ€™s grip was firm, her expression void of sympathy. โ€œEnough. Get out.โ€

Yulia struggled, but there was nothing she could do. She wasnโ€™t strong enough to fight Sierra offโ€”let alone Johnathan and Dickson, who were waiting outside.

Johnathan didnโ€™t waste time. He gave Dickson a look, and the younger man immediately grabbed Yulia, dragging her out the door. Then Johnathan called building security. โ€œMake sure she doesnโ€™t come back.โ€

Only after it was done did the two men turn to the closed bedroom door. โ€œMr. Johnathanโ€ฆ Ms. Sierra and her grandmotherโ€ฆ are they okay?โ€ Dickson asked hesitantly.

โ€œTheyโ€™ll be fine.โ€ Johnathanโ€™s tone was steady, but he was more worried about Sierraโ€™s grandmother than Sierra. Sierra wouldnโ€™t be shaken by this. But grandmaโ€ฆ this was your own daughter. And Johnathan was right.

After Yulia was thrown out, the light faded from Sierraโ€™s grandmotherโ€™s eyes. She sat in her chair in silence.

Sierra was worried. If she had known it would turn out like this, she never would have let Sierraโ€™s grandmother see Yulia.

After a long pause, Sierraโ€™s grandmother finally spoke. โ€œIโ€™m fine, Sierra. I am fine.โ€ She gently ran her fingers through Sierraโ€™s hair, her voice soft. โ€œWhen Iโ€™m gone, go to Albanos. You have a bright future ahead of you.โ€

Her Sierra was never meant to be confined to one place.

โ€œGrandmaโ€ฆโ€ Sierraโ€™s throat tightened. This was the first time they had ever spoken so openly about death. A lump formed in her chest. โ€œGrandmaโ€ฆ I could save youโ€ฆโ€

All she had to do was give in to Kason. Sierraโ€™s grandmother shook her head. โ€œIf that were the case, I would never rest in peace. Follow your heart, Sierra. Donโ€™t let me become your chains.โ€

That was the last thing she wanted.

Outside, Yulia had been dumped at the entrance of the apartment complex. She still wanted to cause a scene, but the security guard warned herโ€”if she continued, they would call the police. She paled. Yulia had always been a coward. Her so-called bravery from earlier had probably drained every last ounce of courage she had. Besidesโ€ฆ she wasnโ€™t even sure if she truly had the guts to jump. At least not now.

Lost and hopeless, she wandered aimlesslyโ€”only to be grabbed and dragged into a van.

Kason never believed that Sierra would refuse to save her grandmother. His sources told him that Sierra cherished her grandmother above all else. But when Yulia, trembling and terrified, recounted everything that had happened, Kason finally understood. She really wasnโ€™t going to save her.

Yulia, of course, had no idea who these people were or why they were looking for her. But she did know one thing. They werenโ€™t friendly. So when Kason asked questions, she spilled everything she knew without hesitation.

Once she had nothing left to say, she hesitated before cautiously asking, โ€œI told you everythingโ€ฆ Can I go now?โ€

Kasonโ€™s eyes flickered with amusement. He looked at the pathetic, shivering woman before him and suddenly smiled.

Chapter 208: No Sympathy Left

โ€œYou said you donโ€™t have a place to stay, right?โ€ Yuliaโ€™s eyes widened. Kasonโ€™s voice was smooth, persuasive. โ€œI can give you a place. Youโ€™ll have food, shelter, everything you need.โ€

โ€œReally?โ€ she couldnโ€™t believe it. After everything, was someone finally willing to help her?

โ€œOf course. I always keep my word.โ€ Kasonโ€™s smile deepened. โ€œAnd since youโ€™re Sierraโ€™s adoptive mother, I wonโ€™t ask for much in return.โ€ His words were laced with temptation.

Yulia swallowed. She had nothing left. She was worthless. So there was nothing to lose.
