Chapter 196: Unexpected Plus-Ones
As Sierra was about to move, Jonathan pressed her hand down. โNo need to fuss; I ordered a meal from the restaurant, and theyโll deliver it soon.โ He didnโt fancy cooking for Mateo, and the thought of Sierra doing it hadnโt even crossed his mind. He rarely had a proper meal himself.
Unaware of Jonathanโs thoughts, Sierra felt relieved upon hearing about the meal and then inquired about his friend. โIs it the guy who helped with this?โ She pointed to the earrings she was wearing.
โYeah, I have a few friends, and this time itโs him. Donโt worry about him later; donโt treat him like a guest. After we eat, heโll be gone.โ Jonathanโs tone was full of disdain for Mateo.
Though it was disdainful, Sierra knew their relationship was genuinely close; otherwise, Jonathan wouldnโt talk this way. Sierra smiled and nodded. Around noon, the doorbell rang, and Jonathan, guessing it was Mateo, went to answer it. He had just opened the door when he abruptly slammed it shut.
Startled by his action, Sierra quickly asked, โWhatโs wrong?โ
โNothing, wrong door!โ He replied just as the doorbell rang again, accompanied by voices outside.
โMr. Yeager, weโre here!โ
โOpen up, Mr. Yeager!โ
Sierra looked at Jonathan in confusion. Wasnโt it supposed to be just one person? Jonathan also looked helpless, โThey all came!โ As he spoke, he opened the door, and indeed, there stood three tall, well-built, stylishly different handsome men.
Sierra paused for a moment, then instinctively greeted, โHello!โ The three tall men smiled at Sierra and introduced themselves.
โHello, Iโm Maddox!โ
โIโm Draven, a friend of Mr. Yeager!โ
โCall me Stone!โ
Just then, another figure squeezed past them, looking more disheveled than the neatly dressed trio, as if he had just been through a rough crowd.
โMrs. Yeager, and me!โ
โIโm Mateo, Jonathanโs best friend. Mrs. Yeager, weโve met before!โ
Despite the unexpected increase from one to four, Sierra warmly and politely welcomed them in. Their expressions changed slightly as they entered, and Sierra was puzzled until Mateo excitedly said, โMrs. Yeager, itโs my first time here at Jonโs private place. You have no idea, Jon is really territorial; he never lets us even step in the doorway.โ He was so excited that he accidentally blurted out their private nickname for Jonathan.
Initially nervous around the tall strangers, Sierra relaxed and smiled at Mateoโs words. As Mateo spoke, Stone and the others took a deliberate step back, clearly signaling their unfamiliarity with Mateo.
Mateo hadnโt realized his slip-up and was still caught up in his excitement, mixed with a bit of regret. If only he hadnโt boasted the day before; he could have been the only one among them to visit Jonathanโs house, but those bastards rushed to Maviston overnight, and he was ambushed by the trio as soon as he stepped out. Outnumbered, defeat was inevitable, and he had to drag along three dead weights.
He was still regretting this when a sinister voice rang out, โJon?โ Mateoโs smile froze, and he twitched at the corner of his mouth, glancing toward the door, only to see Maddox and the others effectively blocking his escape route. He smoothly slid to his knees, โJonathan, I was wrong!โ But it was to no avail.
