Chapter 177: Hats Off to Hideouts

Kason, however, sat down casually on the sofa. Seeing Sierra standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass, he couldnโ€™t help saying, โ€œI love that spot the most!โ€

Images of Kason pressing someone against the glass surfaced in Sierraโ€™s mind, and a wave of disgust rose in her heart. Impatiently, she said, โ€œDid you bring me here just to show off this place?โ€

โ€œOf course not!โ€ Kason stood up and walked over to Sierra, staring at her slowly. โ€œI want to invite you to collaborate with me. Sierra, youโ€™re a genius.โ€ He had also watched her recent livestream. He had been interested in Sierra before, but after watching it, he couldnโ€™t let go of her. He had known she was skilled in her field, but he hadnโ€™t realized she was capable of breaking the mold and establishing a new system. Just that alone put her ahead of countless scholars. He had previously tried to recruit Jonathan, but unfortunately, Jonathan was uncooperative. Now, he had found someone who could match Jonathan.

โ€œSierra, your talents shouldnโ€™t be wasted. I know you love research, and as long as youโ€™re willing, you can do anything here. Iโ€™ll provide you with unlimited support, free from any constraints.โ€

โ€œYou know, all the data is based on various experiments, and conventional methods are just too slow. Take that new drug you developed, for instance; between trials and clinical tests, it would typically take at least six months. But here, itโ€™s different. From the moment you start researching, I can have people working with you. How about it?โ€

Kason had interacted with many in the academic world; he knew what they wanted. Some sought fame, others were after money, and some academics were downright obsessive about their research.

Sierra grasped the deeper meaning in his words. She asked, โ€œAre you conducting experiments on humans illegally?โ€

Kason, though smitten with Sierra, didnโ€™t answer directly. โ€œSierra, do you want to join us?โ€

โ€œYou guys? Who else is involved?โ€ Sierra probed discreetly. Was it Shane? Shane controlled the prisons, capable of making those without backgrounds or families disappear for various reasons. โ€œThose who โ€˜diedโ€™ were secretly brought here to Kason, partly for human experiments and partly to satisfy his sexual fetishes! Both men were disgustingly vile!โ€

Kason didnโ€™t respond to Sierraโ€™s question, instead noting her curious gaze. โ€œYou seem very curious about who Iโ€™m collaborating with.โ€

Sierra realized she had shown her hand too quickly and replied smoothly, โ€œOf course Iโ€™m curious! Iโ€™ve been in jail before, and I donโ€™t want to go back. I need to make sure your setup is secure.โ€

Sierraโ€™s words eased some of Kasonโ€™s concerns. He thought for a moment and said, โ€œI canโ€™t tell you the identity of my partner, but rest assured, itโ€™s safe here. You saw the security check when we entered. Itโ€™s very strict; no one will leak anything. Plus, no one can find this place. Even if they did, thereโ€™s a self-destruct mechanism here. They wonโ€™t find anything. Besides, no one is going to check!โ€

Kason was full of confidence. Sierraโ€™s heart sank; she didnโ€™t think Kason was being arrogant. His confidence was backed by a very strong support system, which only proved his power. Kasonโ€™s influence, or rather, Shaneโ€™s influence, was beyond her expectations.

Seeing her silence, Kason continued to persuade, โ€œSierra, donโ€™t think too much. Leave these issues to me. Just focus on your research. You can trust that I will ensure your safety. What do you say? Want to join?โ€

Sierra didnโ€™t respond directly, only asking, โ€œWhatโ€™s the main focus of the research here? If I join, can I choose what I want to research, or will you assign me tasks?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll assign tasks to others, but you can continue with your current research direction. Youโ€™ve developed a new concept. Besides the drug youโ€™ve already developed, I believe you can create even more.โ€

It was all about making money, and he certainly wouldnโ€™t turn her away.

โ€œWhat about my movements? Do I have to stay here all the time?โ€ Sierra looked around as she asked.

โ€œNo, you can go back to your previous institute. Iโ€™ll make the worldโ€™s most advanced equipment available to you there. You just focus on what you want to do; Iโ€™ll handle everything else.โ€ Kason offered the best conditions.

Sierra didnโ€™t commit, only saying, โ€œIโ€™ll think about it.โ€

Kason wasnโ€™t pleased with her answer. โ€œDo you have any concerns?โ€

Sierra crossed her arms and said, โ€œI think you might be misunderstanding me. I donโ€™t actually like research. I prefer novelty and excitement. I got into this because it challenged existing theories, but now, Iโ€™m not that interested anymore.โ€

Kason grew more excited. โ€œThen, just follow your desires; the more novel, the better.โ€

Chapter 177: Underground Untest

Sierra said this as she sidestepped, increasing the distance between them, and then hurried toward the door. She couldnโ€™t stand being in the room any longer; she always felt the disinfectant smell was tinged with the scent of rust.

Just as she reached the door, Mason said, โ€œI have a lot of things here, want to take something to play with?โ€ Saying this, he showed a custom whip into Sierraโ€™s hands, maliciously adding, โ€œThis would work very well on Mr. Yeager.โ€
