Chapter 113: A Gathering of Ghouls

โ€œSuch people deserve a lesson,โ€ Jonathanโ€™s words resonated deeply with Sierra. Since her release from prison, the Xander familyโ€™s attitudes had shifted slightly; they might have felt a hint of guilt, but it was so minimal that at the first sign of trouble, they were quick to consider abandoning her and pushing her to the forefront.

With the plan set, Sierra wasnโ€™t in a hurry anymore. She went to the institute first to copy her research records from the recent period. These documents were undeniable, clearly showing the dates and content of her research. Then, she organized her own drafts and some other related materials.

The weekend came quickly, and with it, the time Sierra had agreed to meet with Kason. This time, Kason took Sierra to a party, essentially a gathering of wealthy heirs. Sierra had become quite well-known in Maviston recently, and there was hardly anyone who didnโ€™t know her name. As she entered with Kason, someone couldnโ€™t help but whisper, โ€œCan her frame withstand Mr. Kasonโ€™s antics?โ€

โ€œWell, she is a daughter of the Xander family; Mr. Kason probably wonโ€™t go too far!โ€

โ€œYou donโ€™t know; Mr. Kason likes the thrill. I heard he had another incident last week, had to call a doctor in the middle of the night. No idea what happened after that.โ€

As Kason and Sierra approached, the group fell silent. These were Kasonโ€™s fair-weather friends, and his intention in bringing Sierra was to introduce her to them. Without a doubt, he and Sierra were headed towards engagement and marriage. From their interactions, it was clear Sierra suited his tastes perfectly. He even thought that in the future, he might not need to drug Sierra; she could be willing to explore various scenarios with him, and perhaps, she might even bring some new ideas to the table. With this thought, Kason flashed a pleased smile.

In stark contrast to his good mood, Sierra felt unusually down. She had hoped for some progress today, but instead, Kason had actually started making his moves on her. How long will it take for me to find evidence of Kasonโ€™s crimes? Am I really going to have to marry him? She didnโ€™t have the patience for that, especially thinking about Dickson at home, who dared not even leave the house, which only added to her agitation.

At that moment, Kason led her over to greet someone. โ€œThis is Mr. Yeager, a good friend of mine, and this is Sierra, the daughter of the Xander family.โ€ Kason introduced Sierra to Brendan.

Upon hearing Brendanโ€™s name, Sierra looked up involuntarily and saw a somewhat tall, rugged-looking man waving at her. โ€œLong admired, Ms. Xander.โ€ This is Brendan, the one who had bullied Dickson? With resentment in her heart but a dangerously sweet smile on her face, Sierra responded, โ€œMr. Brendan, what a pleasure.โ€

โ€œMr. Brendan owns the Dynasty Club. Iโ€™ll take you there sometime for fun, though itโ€™s not really my scene,โ€ Kason whispered in Sierraโ€™s car. Sierra glanced at the person next to Brendan, getting a sense of what Kason meant.

The young man beside Brendan looked frail, his eyes filled with fear and pain, clearly there against his will; this explained why they got along so well. Sierra asked, โ€œAnd who is this? Mr. Brendan, arenโ€™t you going to introduce him?โ€

Brendan replied nonchalantly, โ€œJust some minor entertainment. I canโ€™t even remember all their names, so I wonโ€™t bother introducing him to Ms. Xander.โ€

Suddenly remembering something, Brendan showed a meaningful smile and said, โ€œI had a fierce little puppy once, but then his family came and took him back. Itโ€™s been a long time since Iโ€™ve had such a tasty little puppyโ€ฆ the flavor was really something.โ€

As Brendan reminisced, Sierra clenched her fists. She knew who Brendan was talking about, and he was deliberately provoking her. She was aware that Brendan knew about her attempt to retrieve someone from the club that day. Sierra suddenly turned cold, asking directly, โ€œWho are you referring to as that puppy?โ€

Brendan paused, taken aback by her question, and before he could respond, Sierra added, โ€œIโ€™m very protective, and I donโ€™t have much to lose.โ€

โ€œJust the other day, I happened to visit the Dynasty Club. I heard thatโ€™s your place, Mr. Brendan?โ€

As Brendanโ€™s smile faltered, his inherently fierce face grew even more menacing, but Sierraโ€™s expression didnโ€™t change in the slightest.
