Chapter 113: A Gathering of Ghouls
โSuch people deserve a lesson,โ Jonathanโs words resonated deeply with Sierra. Since her release from prison, the Xander familyโs attitudes had shifted slightly; they might have felt a hint of guilt, but it was so minimal that at the first sign of trouble, they were quick to consider abandoning her and pushing her to the forefront.
With the plan set, Sierra wasnโt in a hurry anymore. She went to the institute first to copy her research records from the recent period. These documents were undeniable, clearly showing the dates and content of her research. Then, she organized her own drafts and some other related materials.
The weekend came quickly, and with it, the time Sierra had agreed to meet with Kason. This time, Kason took Sierra to a party, essentially a gathering of wealthy heirs. Sierra had become quite well-known in Maviston recently, and there was hardly anyone who didnโt know her name. As she entered with Kason, someone couldnโt help but whisper, โCan her frame withstand Mr. Kasonโs antics?โ
โWell, she is a daughter of the Xander family; Mr. Kason probably wonโt go too far!โ
โYou donโt know; Mr. Kason likes the thrill. I heard he had another incident last week, had to call a doctor in the middle of the night. No idea what happened after that.โ
As Kason and Sierra approached, the group fell silent. These were Kasonโs fair-weather friends, and his intention in bringing Sierra was to introduce her to them. Without a doubt, he and Sierra were headed towards engagement and marriage. From their interactions, it was clear Sierra suited his tastes perfectly. He even thought that in the future, he might not need to drug Sierra; she could be willing to explore various scenarios with him, and perhaps, she might even bring some new ideas to the table. With this thought, Kason flashed a pleased smile.
In stark contrast to his good mood, Sierra felt unusually down. She had hoped for some progress today, but instead, Kason had actually started making his moves on her. How long will it take for me to find evidence of Kasonโs crimes? Am I really going to have to marry him? She didnโt have the patience for that, especially thinking about Dickson at home, who dared not even leave the house, which only added to her agitation.
At that moment, Kason led her over to greet someone. โThis is Mr. Yeager, a good friend of mine, and this is Sierra, the daughter of the Xander family.โ Kason introduced Sierra to Brendan.
Upon hearing Brendanโs name, Sierra looked up involuntarily and saw a somewhat tall, rugged-looking man waving at her. โLong admired, Ms. Xander.โ This is Brendan, the one who had bullied Dickson? With resentment in her heart but a dangerously sweet smile on her face, Sierra responded, โMr. Brendan, what a pleasure.โ
โMr. Brendan owns the Dynasty Club. Iโll take you there sometime for fun, though itโs not really my scene,โ Kason whispered in Sierraโs car. Sierra glanced at the person next to Brendan, getting a sense of what Kason meant.

The young man beside Brendan looked frail, his eyes filled with fear and pain, clearly there against his will; this explained why they got along so well. Sierra asked, โAnd who is this? Mr. Brendan, arenโt you going to introduce him?โ
Brendan replied nonchalantly, โJust some minor entertainment. I canโt even remember all their names, so I wonโt bother introducing him to Ms. Xander.โ
Suddenly remembering something, Brendan showed a meaningful smile and said, โI had a fierce little puppy once, but then his family came and took him back. Itโs been a long time since Iโve had such a tasty little puppyโฆ the flavor was really something.โ
As Brendan reminisced, Sierra clenched her fists. She knew who Brendan was talking about, and he was deliberately provoking her. She was aware that Brendan knew about her attempt to retrieve someone from the club that day. Sierra suddenly turned cold, asking directly, โWho are you referring to as that puppy?โ
Brendan paused, taken aback by her question, and before he could respond, Sierra added, โIโm very protective, and I donโt have much to lose.โ
โJust the other day, I happened to visit the Dynasty Club. I heard thatโs your place, Mr. Brendan?โ
As Brendanโs smile faltered, his inherently fierce face grew even more menacing, but Sierraโs expression didnโt change in the slightest.
