Chapter 646 The Trap Behind the Screen
But remembering Scarfaceโs threat, Wendy had no choice but to feign ignorance. โWhat can she do to me? This school is my turf!โ
Nora slowly shook her head. โI know her better than you. If you donโt do as I say, both you and your uncle could be in danger.โ
Wendy felt sick just looking at Noraโs concerned expression, but she forced herself to ask, โThen what am I supposed to do?โ
Nora put on a helpless look. โIf you want to cut off the men tangled up with Yunice, you have to expose her relationship with that manโmake it big. Let everyone see her true colors. Itโs the only way to solve this from the root.โ
Wendy frowned. โArenโt you supposed to be her relative? You said all of this was to help her, to bring her back to the right path. But now it sounds like you just want to destroy her. I donโt get it.โ
Nora sighed. โIโve tried everything to correct her, but nothing worked. Her men just came after me for itโฆโ
As she spoke, she rolled up her sleeve in front of Wendy.
Wendyโs eyes widened when she saw the layers of scarsโold and newโon Noraโs arm.
โThese,โ Nora said, โwere from the people Yunice sent to beat me upโฆ Thatโs why I canโt let it go anymore. I have to break her first. Only then will she realize what sheโs doing. Only then will she wake up and start over.โ
Wendy looked at her with unease. Is this womanโฆ mentally stable?
Nora gripped Wendyโs arm, her tone coaxing. โDidnโt you say Yunice is already under your control? All you have to do is strip her and that man, lock them in a room together, and let others in to see itโฆ No one will actually get hurt. You wonโt have to feel guilty. Youโll even be saving a clueless girl. That makes you the good guy.โ
Wendyโs eyes filled with fear. Nora looked even more unhinged now. She jerked her arm away in fright.
Nora didnโt care. Her expression turned cold. โIf you donโt do it, the ones whoโll get hurt are you and your uncle. Choose for yourself.โ
Wendy shouted, โYouโre crazy! The only one getting hurt will be you!โ
The moment she finished, a mechanical sliding sound filled the room.
Nora turned sharply. A large decorative screen at the side of the room slowly folded away, revealing someone seated behind it.
There had been space behind the screen? Someone had been sitting there the whole time, able to see and hear everything?
Noraโs expression changed instantly. But as soon as she realized what was happening, she responded with flawless composure.
At the same time the screen opened, Scarface pulled the door open from the outside.
Wendy was called out of the room and never saw who had been behind the screen.
When the door closed again, only two people remained.
Nora didnโt flinch. She looked calmly at Wyatt, who had been seated behind the screen, and said with a touch of emotion, โSo I finally get to see youโฆ without anyone else around. I never thought a meeting I once looked forward to would become so hard.โ
Wyatt pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and bit it between his lips. โWhat did you just say you wanted to do to my wife? Say it again.โ
Noraโs expression remained calm, tinged with sorrow but without a hint of guilt or fear. She said quietly, โI only said all that to get you to meet with me. Yunice is so smart, and you love her so muchโhow could I ever do something so stupid?โ
Wyatt looked up and gave her a cold once-over. โYou sure bounced back fast. A true medical miracle.โ
Nora heard the sarcasm in his voice but accepted it gladly. โYou searched the world for doctors for me, gave me the best medicine. Naturally, I recovered faster than anyone else.โ
Wyatt looked disgusted. He wasnโt here to flirt.
He stood up. โIโm sending you abroad. Youโll be banned from returning. From now on, you wonโt get anywhere near Yunice again.โ
As he turned to leave, Nora raised her voice. โIs this exile? Youโve always been the kind to pay back every insult tenfold. I schemed against Yunice, so shouldnโt you be repaying me in the same way? But instead, youโre sending me overseas. Is it because you still have a soft spot for me?โ
Wyatt gave her a cold glance, unmoved. โIf thatโs what you want to think, go ahead.โ
As long as she couldnโt come back, he could pretend she didnโt exist.
โWyatt!โ Noraโs tone turned desperate. She chased after him, pleading, โJust help my brother one more time. Itโs a small requestโjust one word from you. Why canโt you say yes?โ
A cheerful voice suddenly cut in. โBecause if he helps you, heโs afraid his wife might get mad.โ
Nora turned in shock and saw Laurie standing not far away.
Instantly, her eyes flared with bitter hatred.
