Chapter 621 Rivalry

Tommy forced a stiff smile. โ€œSure.โ€ He agreed to go with Wyatt.

When he saw Wyatt open the door of a BYD, Tommy froze slightly, his expression a little surprised. โ€œYou guys really keep it low-key?โ€

Wyatt got in and replied, โ€œMy wife doesnโ€™t like drawing too much attentionโ€ฆ The front seatโ€™s hers. Sorry, Tommy, youโ€™ll have to sit in the back.โ€

Tommy said, โ€œOf course.โ€ He climbed into the back and leaned forward, bracing both hands on the front seats to see out the windshield. โ€œTake a left down the alley up ahead. Thereโ€™s a local restaurant at the end of itโ€”light flavors. I remember Yunice doesnโ€™t like anything too heavy. Not sure what your tastes are, sir?โ€

Wyattโ€™s face turned cold as he gripped the steering wheel. Apparently, he wasnโ€™t thrilled Tommy knew Yuniceโ€™s preferences.

Yunice said, โ€œHe eats local food too.โ€

Wyatt wasnโ€™t picky like her. He could eat just about anything. As long as it filled his stomach, he was fine. Thatโ€™s why Yunice never really figured out what his favorite flavor was.

Tommy gave a short โ€œohโ€ and kept giving directions. Yunice glanced at Wyatt but didnโ€™t say more.

Traffic in the university district was bad around dismissal time. And since this was an old part of the city, the road conditions made it worse. Once they reached the alley, theyโ€™d have to get out and walk the rest of the way.

While the car inched along, Tommy stayed busy on his phone. He was young, smart, and handsomeโ€”hugely popular among the girls at school. Plenty of students hit him up with questions about coursework. He had his hands full.

When they finally parked, the three of them walked into the alley toward the restaurant. Wyatt held Yuniceโ€™s hand while Tommy led the way.

Tommy was well-known on campus, so everywhere they went, students greeted him. Some even squealed with excitement like running into him was the best surprise ever. Thanks to him, Wyatt and Yunice also ended up getting a bunch of stares. Some bold students even came up to ask who they were. Yunice glanced at Wyattโ€™s expression, a little awkward. She lightly squeezed his palm.

Bear with it. He was the one who invited Tommy, after all. They finally made it to the restaurant, and thanks to Tommyโ€™s reputation, they scored a private room. It wasnโ€™t a fancy placeโ€”just a small student-friendly spot. But the private room offered a good level of privacy.

What they didnโ€™t expect was for a couple of clueless underclassmen to follow them in. The two girls probably hadnโ€™t expected to run into Tommy and shyly approached, holding books in their hands. โ€œTommy, weโ€™re stuck on a few problems. Could you help us out?โ€

Tommy politely declined. โ€œSorry, Iโ€™ve got company.โ€ The girls blinked and glanced at Wyatt and Yunice. When they saw Wyatt, they blushed even harder.

They tried again. โ€œThis place takes forever to serve food. We wonโ€™t hold you up. Besidesโ€ฆ you two donโ€™t mind, right?โ€

Thick-skinned, they answered for Yunice and Wyatt without waiting for a response. Before Wyatt could shut them down with a scowl, theyโ€™d already dragged over chairs and sat on either side of Tommy, happily pushing their books toward him.

Wyatt frowned. Yunice tapped his hand. He turned to look at her.

Yunice shifted slightly in her seat and spoke in a low voice, just for the two of them. โ€œWhereโ€™d you land the helicopter?โ€

Wyattโ€™s eyes flickered. Suddenly, he found these two girls usefulโ€”stalling Tommy gave him more alone time with Yunice.

โ€œOn the hotel roof.โ€

Yunice said, โ€œIsnโ€™t that a bit much?โ€

Wyatt smiled. โ€œItโ€™s only forty minutes.โ€

She added, โ€œTommyโ€™s my senior. Weโ€™ve been through a lot together in the hospital. Donโ€™t be petty with him.โ€

Wyatt replied, โ€œIf you can tell Iโ€™m being petty, then you must also see heโ€™s up to something.โ€

Yunice bit her straw. โ€œOf course.โ€ Tommy just wasnโ€™t being obvious about it. But that didnโ€™t mean she had to push him away.

She wasnโ€™t the kind of person who wasted energy on things that wouldnโ€™t go anywhere. And she definitely wasnโ€™t going to offend someone for no reason.

Tommy glanced over and saw the two of them sitting close, whispering with their heads together. He looked down at the book in front of him, then smiled at the two girls. โ€œYou two are asking different types of questions. I canโ€™t help both at the same time.โ€

โ€œYunice here was the top scorer on the SAT this year. Sheโ€™s great with this kind of problem too.โ€

The more outgoing girl quickly picked up on the hintโ€”Tommy was suggesting she ask Yunice instead. But she had zero interest in that. She was into guys.

Tommy thought she came here for tutoring? Please. She was just trying to get close to the school heartthrob and maybe get his number. She had no intention of talking to the SAT queen.
