Chapter 614 Offโ€“Limits

Before Yunice could react, the space beside her was suddenly empty.

All she felt was a gust of windโ€“and the next thing she saw was a figure darting out. Then came a muffled grunt just outside the greenhouse.

And thenโ€“silence.

Yunice hurried out after him, only to find that Wyatt had already knocked the man unconscious.

She stepped up and yanked the mask off the manโ€™s face, revealing an unfamiliar and unremarkable stranger.

Wyatt scanned the area cautiously before dragging the man aside. โ€œIโ€™ll handle this.โ€

Whoever sent someone to spy on Yunice was most likely aiming at Wyatt, which meant it was better for him to investigate personally.

Yunice didnโ€™t argue. After all, she was a university student nowโ€“not the right person to interrogate.

Wyatt checked the time. It was already close to 1 a.m.

Yunice still had class tomorrow. She couldnโ€™t stay up all night.

Right now, his head was full of the person behind the stalker. He reminded Yunice, โ€œYou should go get some sleep.โ€

Yunice hesitated. โ€œThe dormโ€™s already locked. My roomโ€™s on the third floor, and I canโ€™t exactly climb in through the windowโ€ฆโ€

She looked up at him, clearly troubled. โ€œShould weโ€ฆ just get a hotel?โ€

For a moment, Wyatt thought heโ€™d misheard her. His eyes froze.

Then he said, โ€œSure.โ€

But even as he agreed, his eyes lingered on her a moment longer. Something felt off.

Yunice glanced at the unconscious man on the ground, then turned to lead the way. โ€œI know a side gate we can take. Just have one of your guys take care of him.โ€

Wyatt frowned and didnโ€™t follow immediately. Instead, he sent a message: โ€œWhat happened with the Saunders family and the Powell family? I want a reportโ€“now.โ€

Yunice seemed down. Most likely something had happened with the Saunders family.

Paul didnโ€™t have the power to make Yunice this upset.

Scar arrived to haul the unconscious man away.

Wyatt, meanwhile, took Yunice to a hotel.

As soon as they entered the suite, Yunice stripped off her school uniform and tossed it onto the coat rack. She kicked off her shoes and headed straight into the bathroom.

Wyatt followed behind, pausing to hang her uniform properly.

Water ran in the shower. Steam blurred the frosted glass, but he could still make out her silhouette leaning motionless against the wall, letting the water pour down from above.

His brows furrowed deeper.

He pulled a cigarette from its case, clamped it between his lips, and began pacing restlessly through the room.

Two seconds later, he yanked out his phone and dialed. โ€œItโ€™s been two minutes. Still nothing?โ€

Jordan cursed silently. He hadnโ€™t even made it out the door yet.

โ€œWyatt, youโ€™ve got to give me a lead. Otherwise, even with a gun to my head, I wouldnโ€™t know what you want me to find.โ€

Wyatt was quiet for a moment. โ€œSheโ€™s upset. And sheโ€™s not talking.โ€

Jordan was about to ask who, then realized instantlyโ€“who else could shake Wyatt like this?

He caught on immediately. โ€œMrs. Cooperโ€™s upsetโ€ฆ probably because of Owenโ€™s diagnosis. He was just confirmed to have early-stage liver cancer.โ€

He added, โ€œI asked Joe. At this stage, itโ€™s still operable.โ€

Wyatt felt a wave of relief. โ€œIf itโ€™s treatable, why is she upset?โ€

Jordan racked his brain. โ€œMaybe sheโ€™s worried about complications? Liver cancer, even after surgery, can come back. If it progresses, a relative might need to donate part of their liver. Maybe Mrs. Cooperโ€™s struggling with that. Owen is her brother, after all. She might want to help, but not feel willing to. Thatโ€™s enough to mess with anyone.โ€

Wyatt clenched his teeth. โ€œDonate her liver? Not a chance in hell.โ€

If that day ever came, heโ€™d kill Owen before the man even got a chance to ask.

Jordan continued, โ€œAnd itโ€™s not just that. The Saunders family has had a pretty wild dayโ€ฆ Owen made a big move.โ€

He laid it all out.

Wyattโ€™s voice turned cold. โ€œHeโ€™s ruthless, Iโ€™ll give him that.โ€

โ€œTimothy was set up by Mrs. Cooper. Peggy was your setup. Now Timothy turned around and took Peggy down with him. If she ever thinks back on all this, wonโ€™t she blame you for being too cruel?โ€

Wyatt bit down on his cigarette, his tone unreadable. โ€œIt was Oscar who brought Peggy into this. He made sure sheโ€™d be the one to pick up a drunken Owen.โ€

Wyatt never had to lift a fingerโ€“someone else always got their hands dirty for him.

Wyatt suddenly looked up, as if something had clicked.

All three Saunders siblings were involved now. Not one of them had clean hands anymore.

The cigarette dropped from Wyattโ€™s mouth and hit the floor.

What was he supposed to do with a wife who was too moral and too stubborn?

โ€œWyatt, can you hand me a towel?โ€ Yuniceโ€™s voice came from the cracked bathroom door.

Wyatt snapped back to reality and brought her a towel.

She stepped out, drying her hair, and said calmly, โ€œYour turn to shower.โ€
