Chapter 597 The Real Test

Yuniceโ€™s face flushed red as she finally saw Wyattโ€™s post. The likes were already lined up in several neat rowsโ€”clearly everyone had seen it.

Butโ€ฆ it wasnโ€™t really a big deal. What couple didnโ€™t do something cheesy every now and then? No one would take it too seriously.

She turned back to Wyatt and continued explaining, โ€œIโ€™m not doing this to get back at you. Itโ€™s a required clinical rotation. If I donโ€™t go, I fail. And Iโ€™m not letting a failing grade show up on my transcript.โ€

That was her academic pride. Even a single lost point was unacceptable.

โ€œClinical rotation?โ€ Wyatt frowned, clearly uncomfortable. โ€œYou really canโ€™t skip it?โ€

โ€œNope.โ€

His face soured. โ€œNot a week. Not two. A whole month.โ€

โ€œIf I donโ€™t go, I fail!โ€ Yunice said again. โ€œI already got permission to study remotely this long. Now I have to be on campus for a monthโ€”whatโ€™s the big deal? You think college is easy to coast through?โ€

Wyatt sat up. โ€œSo you go off for a month. What am I supposed to do?โ€

Yunice snapped, โ€œWhatever you want! Youโ€™re not a child. I donโ€™t have to babysit you. Youโ€™re not working anywayโ€”lock yourself upstairs and play dress-up or something!โ€

โ€œHey!โ€ Elianna suddenly burst out of the kitchen. โ€œNora just liked your post!โ€

Wyatt and Yunice both looked at her. Neither looked thrilledโ€”who smiles during a fight? And Eliannaโ€™s complete lack of timing only made things worse.

She froze where she stood, still at a safe distance, then tried to backpedal: โ€œI just thoughtโ€”since Nora liked the photoโ€”it meant she accepted your relationship? So maybe the three of you could be friends nowโ€ฆโ€

Before she could finish, Yunice exploded.

โ€œWho the hell needs her approval?! Who the hell asked for it?!โ€

Elianna turned and bolted upstairs. She didnโ€™t mean anything by it. She just thought if everyone got along, it would be better. Why was Yunice so scary?

Yuniceโ€™s anger didnโ€™t just scare Eliannaโ€”it made Wyatt tense too.

Already mid-argument, and now someone brought up Nora of all people? He was definitely guilty, and it showed.

That guilt made him cave. โ€œFine. You can go. But Iโ€™m getting you a private dorm room.โ€

Otherwise, under normal arrangements, Yunice would be stuck in a four-person dorm. Too noisy, too crowded, and who knew what kind of roommates sheโ€™d get. No need to put up with that.

But Yunice still wasnโ€™t pleased. โ€œI havenโ€™t been on campus in months. Now I show up and get special treatment? What do you think people will say? Iโ€™m sticking with the standard arrangement.โ€

With that, she kicked Wyatt aside, slipped on her slippers, and marched upstairs.

Wyatt stayed behind, rubbing his temples. Irritated, he pulled out his phone, found Noraโ€™s profile in his WhatsApp contactsโ€”and deleted her.

Elsewhere, Nora was sitting with a group of friends at a clubhouse. They were all former mutuals of hers and Wyattโ€™s. Even though they no longer acknowledged her past status, when she invited them out as a โ€œfriend,โ€ none of them refused.

Naturally, theyโ€™d all seen Wyattโ€™s post.

After giving it a like, Nora smiled. โ€œHeโ€™s still the same as beforeโ€ฆโ€

Everyone around her exchanged uncertain glances. To be honest, they all assumed Wyatt had posted that announcement specifically to show Noraโ€”and to make her give up. She shouldโ€™ve been devastated. But here she was, smiling? Had lying in a hospital bed for years scrambled her brain?

But Nora just looked calm and pleased. โ€œHe waited all this time to post something, and only does it after I woke up. Doesnโ€™t that say everything?โ€

The group went silent, their eyes flicking toward her.

โ€œYouโ€™re right,โ€ Nora continued. โ€œHe posted it just for me. How childishโ€ฆ trying to make me feel bad.โ€

They frownedโ€”but no one challenged her. After all, this group of socialites were masters at reading the room. Theyโ€™d already started calculating which woman had Wyattโ€™s heart, because that answer would shape their future social ties.
