Chapter 465 Evidence and Strategy

As soon as Lily finished speaking, Peggyโ€™s playful voice rang out from downstairs. โ€œHoney, Mom, donโ€™t just talk among yourselves! Itโ€™s my first day as a newlywed, and youโ€™re already ignoring me? Thatโ€™s not okay. If you keep this up, Iโ€™m gonna post online and ask the internet: โ€˜What should I do when my mother-in-law is glued to my husband every day?โ€™โ€

โ€œOh lord, what a nightmare!โ€ Lilyโ€™s face flushed with embarrassment. She pushed Owen toward the door. โ€œHurry up and get out of here. Itโ€™s just us lonely womenfolk in hereโ€“if that crazy woman starts running her mouth, Iโ€™ll be ruinedโ€ฆโ€

โ€œMomโ€ฆโ€ Owen hung his head in shame, but knowing Peggy was fully capable of making a scene, he had no choice but to leave Lilyโ€™s room.

Just as he stepped into the hallway, Owen saw Elsie coming out of a room in tears, holding her bedding.

He grabbed her hand, which was covered in bloody cuts, and asked in both worry and shock, โ€œWhy are you bleeding? What happened to your hands?โ€

Elsie quickly hid her hand behind her back, tears slipping down her cheeks. โ€œI cut myself by accident while cleaning up the broken pieces for Peggy. Itโ€™s okay, it doesnโ€™t hurtโ€ฆ As long as you and Peggy are happy together, Iโ€™m fine with it.โ€

Owenโ€™s voice rose. โ€œWhen was I ever happy with her?โ€

โ€œShe asked me to clean up the broken pieces, and you agreed, didnโ€™t you?โ€

Owen fell silent.

He hadnโ€™t really thought it throughโ€“he just didnโ€™t want Peggy throwing a fit, so he had told Elsie to go along with it for now.

Seeing how badly injured she was, guilt surged in him. He gently took her hand. โ€œHow can it not hurt? That vase had been sitting there for agesโ€“who knows if it was even clean? With all these cuts, you could get an infection. Come on, Iโ€™ll clean and bandage them for youโ€ฆโ€

Just as they were about to return to the room hand in hand, they heard Peggy clucking her tongue from downstairs.

She was holding her phone up, the camera pointed right at them, tongue clicking as she edited a post. โ€œBarely married, and my husbandโ€™s already sneaking around with his sister-in-lawโ€“proof right here, folks!โ€

Owen yanked his hand away from Elsie like it had burned him.

Then he stormed downstairs, reaching for Peggyโ€™s phone. โ€œWhat the hell are you posting now?!โ€

Peggy raised her hand and danced away from his reach, grinning. โ€œWhat, mad that I exposed the truth?โ€

โ€œDelete it!โ€ Owen barked.

Peggy smirked. โ€œSure, I can delete it.โ€

She leaned in and offered her cheek. โ€œGive me a kiss and Iโ€™ll delete it.โ€

Owen froze.

Peggy wasnโ€™t uglyโ€“she was actually quite pretty, with a full, curvy figure and a sultry kind of beauty.

If she werenโ€™t so cruel and unreasonable, he might not have hated her so much.

But no matter how pretty that face was, he couldnโ€™t bring himself to kiss it.

Peggy pouted but didnโ€™t seem to care about his disgust. She casually raised her phone, ready to hit โ€œsend.โ€ The glare on the screen showed Owenโ€™s expression, and sure enough, he looked panicked.

The next second, with the air of a man facing execution, Owen pecked her cheek.

Peggyโ€™s lips curled in a triumphant smile as she snapped a photo right at that momentโ€“click.

The sound of the shutter sent a chill down Owenโ€™s spine. He stared at her. โ€œYou took a picture?โ€

Peggy quickly typed on her phone, then gleefully turned the screen to show him. โ€œYup. I posted it on my Moments. I even invited our mutual friends to our wedding celebration.โ€

It felt like the sky had fallen. Owen saw the photo of him kissing Peggyโ€™s cheek going publicโ€“and it was his own doing.

โ€œDelete it!โ€ Owenโ€™s face turned deathly pale as he lunged for the phone.

Peggy twisted away, hiding it behind her. โ€œAnother kiss and Iโ€™ll delete it.โ€

Owen staggered back, on the verge of fainting.

Upstairs, Lily peered through the crack of her door, witnessing the entire scene.

She knew then and there that their home had been hijacked by a siren.

She had to find a way to break this spell.

โ€œElsie,โ€ Lily called her to the door. โ€œYuniceโ€™s fatherโ€™s memorial is coming up. Yunice will definitely return to visit his grave. You and Owen need to find a way to get her back here.โ€

Her eyes narrowed. โ€œWe need to use force against force. If Peggy pisses off Yunice, Wyatt will absolutely step in to defend her and punish Peggy.โ€

โ€œWhen Peggyโ€™s wounded and stuck in bed, thatโ€™ll be our moment for revenge!โ€

Elsie didnโ€™t seem too impressed by the plan. โ€œMom, havenโ€™t you heard? The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Those two are thick as thievesโ€“no way theyโ€™ll turn on each otherโ€ฆโ€

Lily chuckled coldly. โ€œThatโ€™s why youโ€™re still green. When it comes to manipulating people, youโ€™ve got a lot to learn. Just get Yunice hereโ€“and leave the rest to me.โ€
