Chapter 319 The Real Price of a Slap

โ€œItโ€™s you who owe me, not the other way around!โ€

Taylor stared at the six-hundred-million gift list, then thought about her weddingโ€”how Paul had walked out halfwayโ€ฆ

This was beyond infuriating.

Seeing the look in Taylorโ€™s eyes, like she was ready to strike back, Paul frowned. โ€œIf you want to run home crying to your dad, go ahead. At most, weโ€™ll get divorced. Thatโ€™ll finally let me and Elsie be together.โ€

Elsieโ€™s heart practically exploded with joy. She wished Taylor would get mad enough to divorce him on the spot.

But Taylor just scoffed. โ€œIf you had the balls for that, you wouldโ€™ve done it a long time ago.โ€

Taylor took two steps forward, closing in on Paul.

Seeing the clear slap mark on her face, Paul unconsciously backed up two steps.

Taylorโ€™s fierce eyes locked on him. In the end, she said, โ€œIโ€™m not letting you get what you want.โ€

Paulโ€™s throat moved. โ€œWhether you like it or not doesnโ€™t matter.โ€

He reached out to grab the contract in Taylorโ€™s hand. โ€œIโ€™m giving all of this to Elsie.โ€

Taylor lifted her hand and tore the contract to shreds, right in front of him.

Paul glared at her.

Elsie was so angry she couldโ€™ve jumped up and punched Taylor herself. Itโ€™s not your money. What the hell are you getting all worked up about?

Taylor flung the shredded paper into the air, sneering. โ€œIs it even your money to give?โ€

โ€œPaul, have you done a single decent thing in all your years at the Powell family? Ever earned a dime? Do you think your grandfather knows whose card youโ€™ve been swiping for that six hundred million?โ€

Paul growled, โ€œDonโ€™t try to throw Grandpa in my face!โ€

Taylor snorted. โ€œTake a guessโ€“why do you think he backs me instead of you?โ€

She wiped the swelling on her face with the back of her hand and said coldly, โ€œYouโ€™re finished.โ€

Paul clenched his jaw and didnโ€™t say a word.

Taylor turned her head and looked at Owen. โ€œIf you people so much as walk out of here with a single gem, Iโ€™ll go hang banners outside your Saunders house, proudly announcing you as the Powell familyโ€™s official concubine!โ€

Owen shouted, โ€œYou!โ€

He muttered under his breath, โ€œDidnโ€™t think youโ€™d turn out to be this jealous, this irrational.โ€

Taylor fired back with a sneer, โ€œAnd I didnโ€™t think you were this pathetic, living off money your own sister earned selling herself.โ€

Owenโ€™s face turned red. โ€œSay that again! We came to return those gifts! Nobody wants your dirty money!โ€

Taylor said, โ€œLooks to me like you were ready to drool over it.โ€

Owen was so furious he yanked Elsie toward the exit. โ€œWe donโ€™t want your damn money! I hope every time you spend it, you remember the blood and tears Elsie shed!โ€

Paul shouted at Taylor, โ€œCan you shut the hell up!โ€

Taylor yelled back, โ€œWho the hell do you think you are to act all high and mighty!โ€

The two of them kept shouting at each other, sparks flying. Owen, fuming, dragged Elsie out of the Powell estate.

Naturally, Yunice and Oscar didnโ€™t stay much longer either. Oscar followed close behind Owen and Elsie, griping the whole way. โ€œWhat are you mad about? You people took six hundred million over three years. And you really had the nerve to take it? Back when Yunice got dumped, she didnโ€™t get a cent. Did I see you making a scene then?โ€

Owen covered his ears, looking like he was about to explode.

Yunice walked at the very back. With Paulโ€™s gifts successfully revoked, she was clearly the happiest one in the group.

Just then, Alan walked in from outside. He hadnโ€™t been by Taylorโ€™s side earlierโ€”if he had been, Paulโ€™s slap never wouldโ€™ve landed on her.

โ€œAlan.โ€ As they passed, Yunice called out to him. โ€œMs. Taylor was hit by Paul.โ€

Because of Yuniceโ€™s position, Alan had initially kept his guard up around her. But the moment he heard that, his face darkened like a thundercloud ready to strike.

Just as he stormed off, Yunice handed him a small bottle of ointment. โ€œHave Ms. Taylor apply this. Itโ€™ll make the swelling worse.โ€

Alan narrowed his eyes at her. What was she playing at?

Yunice said, โ€œJust tell her what I said. Sheโ€™ll understand.โ€

Alan couldnโ€™t be bothered to argue. He turned and hurried to find Taylor.

He found her dragging Paul toward the old manโ€™s courtyard.

When Taylor turned her face, Alan saw the bright red handprint on her cheek.

That moment, the fury in Alan practically erupted. He raised his fist, ready to beat Paul on the spot.

But Taylor stopped him. Her voice was cold. โ€œDonโ€™t touch him, Iโ€™ll make him pay myself.โ€

Paul barked, โ€œDonโ€™t act all righteous. Iโ€™m going to Grandpa. Iโ€™ll ask him straight upโ€”what the hell does it mean for you to keep another man by your side?โ€

Paul went into Jacksonโ€™s courtyard firstโ€”most likely hoping to get there first and tattle.

Alan wanted to ask about her injury, but thinking of what Paul had just said, he realized he couldnโ€™t cross any lines.

So he said dutifully, โ€œThis is from Yunice. She said itโ€™ll make your bruise worseโ€”and that youโ€™d understand what she meant.โ€
