Chapter 291

Hearing the suggestion, Jarrett hesitated. โ€œHead over to Ms. Dawsonโ€™s apartment? But, Mr. Sutton, itโ€™s quite late. Donโ€™t you thinkโ€ฆ isnโ€™t it a bit inappropriate?โ€ He didnโ€™t dare finish his thought aloud.

Kieran, however, paused before asking, โ€œDo you think I have feelings for Freya?โ€

โ€œWellโ€ฆโ€ Jarrett was at a loss for words. He thought, โ€˜Shouldnโ€™t the person involved be the one who knows best about their feelings?โ€™

โ€œSpeak up.โ€ Kieranโ€™s voice turned colder.

With no choice left, Jarrett said, โ€œItโ€™s just thatโ€ฆ since the engagement party, Mr. Sutton, your behavior toward Ms. Dawson seemsโ€ฆ different than before.โ€

Kieran explained, โ€œThatโ€™s because she always manages to get under my skin. Itโ€™s frustration.โ€

โ€œBut Mr. Sutton, if you didnโ€™t care about someone, how could their words have the power to anger you?โ€

Jarrettโ€™s remark left Kieran momentarily stunned.

Jarrett continued, โ€œWhen youโ€™re around Ms. Harwood, youโ€™re always polite since youโ€™ve made a commitment to her. You take responsibility seriously, and you promised to take care of her, so you wonโ€™t let anyone mess with her. Even when people spread rumors about you, Mr. Sutton, you just shrug them off. But with Ms. Dawson, itโ€™s different. Sheโ€™s the only one who really gets to you emotionally.โ€

โ€œEnough,โ€ Kieran commanded, frowning. โ€œWeโ€™re going to Freyaโ€™s apartment.โ€

โ€œYes, Mr. Sutton.โ€ Jarrett directed the car toward Freyaโ€™s apartment.

Standing at the apartment buildingโ€™s entrance, Kieran hesitated, not moving forward. It was past midnight, and he wondered whether Freya was already asleep.

โ€œMr. Suttonโ€ฆโ€ Unable to hold back, Jarrett spoke up. The security guard would likely come over to inquire if they didnโ€™t move soon.

โ€œCome up with me.โ€

โ€œMe?โ€ Jarrett was stunned, wondering what his role was in this. Kieran didnโ€™t offer him a chance to refuse, heading toward the apartmentโ€™s elevator.

Upon reaching Freyaโ€™s floor, Kieran stood at her door, hesitating before finally knocking. There was no response from inside the apartment. Upon seeing this, Kieranโ€™s brows furrowed more tightly. He knocked again. But still, there was no answer. Realizing something was amiss, Kieran decisively used his key to open the door. The apartment was empty. Freya was nowhere to be found, not even in the bedroom.

Kieranโ€™s expression grew increasingly grim.

โ€œMr. Suttonโ€ฆโ€

โ€œFind her!โ€
