Chapter 291
Hearing the suggestion, Jarrett hesitated. โHead over to Ms. Dawsonโs apartment? But, Mr. Sutton, itโs quite late. Donโt you thinkโฆ isnโt it a bit inappropriate?โ He didnโt dare finish his thought aloud.
Kieran, however, paused before asking, โDo you think I have feelings for Freya?โ
โWellโฆโ Jarrett was at a loss for words. He thought, โShouldnโt the person involved be the one who knows best about their feelings?โ
โSpeak up.โ Kieranโs voice turned colder.
With no choice left, Jarrett said, โItโs just thatโฆ since the engagement party, Mr. Sutton, your behavior toward Ms. Dawson seemsโฆ different than before.โ
Kieran explained, โThatโs because she always manages to get under my skin. Itโs frustration.โ
โBut Mr. Sutton, if you didnโt care about someone, how could their words have the power to anger you?โ
Jarrettโs remark left Kieran momentarily stunned.
Jarrett continued, โWhen youโre around Ms. Harwood, youโre always polite since youโve made a commitment to her. You take responsibility seriously, and you promised to take care of her, so you wonโt let anyone mess with her. Even when people spread rumors about you, Mr. Sutton, you just shrug them off. But with Ms. Dawson, itโs different. Sheโs the only one who really gets to you emotionally.โ
โEnough,โ Kieran commanded, frowning. โWeโre going to Freyaโs apartment.โ
โYes, Mr. Sutton.โ Jarrett directed the car toward Freyaโs apartment.
Standing at the apartment buildingโs entrance, Kieran hesitated, not moving forward. It was past midnight, and he wondered whether Freya was already asleep.
โMr. Suttonโฆโ Unable to hold back, Jarrett spoke up. The security guard would likely come over to inquire if they didnโt move soon.
โCome up with me.โ
โMe?โ Jarrett was stunned, wondering what his role was in this. Kieran didnโt offer him a chance to refuse, heading toward the apartmentโs elevator.
Upon reaching Freyaโs floor, Kieran stood at her door, hesitating before finally knocking. There was no response from inside the apartment. Upon seeing this, Kieranโs brows furrowed more tightly. He knocked again. But still, there was no answer. Realizing something was amiss, Kieran decisively used his key to open the door. The apartment was empty. Freya was nowhere to be found, not even in the bedroom.
Kieranโs expression grew increasingly grim.
โMr. Suttonโฆโ
โFind her!โ
