Chapter 895: How Is She Doing?

Madilyn deemed it inappropriate to interfere in Roxanne and Lucian's relationship, so she hesitated briefly before driving away. Roxanne watched her car disappear before turning and ringing the manor's doorbell. This was her third attempt that day.

Inside, Archie and Benny kept Catalina occupied in Estella's room, preventing her from hearing the doorbell. However, the quiet in Lucian's study allowed him to hear it clearly. The persistent ringing finally prompted him to investigate. Catalina's voice could be heard from Estella's bedroom. Instead of interrupting, Lucian activated the video intercom.

"Catโ€ฆ" Roxanne began, her greeting cut short as she recognized Lucian on the screen.

Lucian's eyes darkened. Sensing his shift in mood, Roxanne nervously clenched her fists. "I saw Archie and Benny are here, so I came," she explained.

A slight frown creased Lucian's face. "Indeed, they are." A hint of amusement flickered in his eyes. What trick is she trying now? She sent Archie and Benny, then uses that as an excuse to enter.

Relieved by his confirmation, Roxanne said cautiously, "Sorry to trouble you. Can you tell them I'm here to pick them up and will be waiting at the gates?" Having been refused entry twice, she avoided requesting entry to the house.

Lucian's eyes darkened again. Without speaking, he pressed a button on the screen. The gates opened. Then, his low voice calmly announced, "I haven't the time, so speak to them yourself, Ms. Jarvis." He immediately ended the call.

Roxanne pondered his words before hesitantly approaching the house. The door was already open. Her heart inexplicably clenched, and she walked more softly.

Inside, Lucian sat on the couch. "Thank you, Mr. Farwell," she said distantly, lowering her eyes.

Unexpectedly, he replied, "What for?" His voice seemed tinged with scorn.

Confused, Roxanne's gaze flickered. "Forโ€ฆ allowing me entry." She looked up hopefully. "Can I see Estella? How is she?"

Lucian's expression darkened further, causing Roxanne's heart to sink. "I'm sure you know why you were denied entry today, Ms. Jarvis," he said coldly.

Roxanne clenched her hands. I know, but I want to make amends. He clearly won't let me.

Lucian continued, mockingly, "Seems you've learned a few tricks from Mr. Damaris, Ms. Jarvis."

Roxanne's brows furrowed in confusion.
