Chapter 615

Lucian's gaze darkened as he stared at his phone. After a time, he found the flower shop's number and called.

"Don't send any flowers tomorrow. Starting next week, please send them to the VR Research Institute instead."

The flower shop staff readily agreed.

Meanwhile, despite Roxanne's clear rejection, she remained worried Lucian would disregard her pleas. The next day, she awoke early, waiting anxiously in the living room with her children. The three of them waited with bated breath, Roxanne particularly fraught with nerves. Thankfully, no one rang the doorbell. Immensely relieved, she watched her sons' suspicions fade, naively assuming Lucian had given up.

The following day, after a nearly two-week rest, Roxanne was eager to return to work. Her wound had healed well, and she could walk comfortably. She persuaded Lysa and her sons to let her go back to the research institute. Arriving around ten in the morning, she'd spent considerable time convincing Lysa. For some reason, she felt the institute's workers were staring at her strangely. As she approached her office, Colby emerged.

"Dr. Jarvis," he greeted, a conflicted expression on his face. Confused, Roxanne asked, "Did anything happen this morning?"

Colby looked concerned. "Why did you suddenly come to work? Has your leg healed completely?"

"Almost," Roxanne replied, then added, "So, what's going on? Why does everyone seem to be staring at me?"

Cornered, Colby feigned calm, smiling. "Someone sent a bouquet of roses this morning. I thought you weren't coming, so I put them in your office."

Colby had encountered a flower shop employee that morning. The employee asked if he knew Roxanne, and Colby froze upon seeing the roses. He ultimately accepted the delivery on Roxanne's behalf. His heart churned as he entered the institute. Naturally, gossip about the anonymous delivery spread like wildfire, ceasing only when Roxanne arrived.

After Colby's explanation, Roxanne's expression froze. She nearly ran to her office, only to find a bouquet of red roses on her desk. From behind, Colby said, "I couldn't ask who sent them. Perhaps you already know."

Roxanne's fists clenched, her nails digging into her palm. Forcing herself to calm down, she offered Colby a strained smile. "I do, but could you do me a favor? If anyone asks, just say it's a wrong delivery." She didn't want the delivery to affect her reputation.

Colby was surprised and perplexed by her request. Is she accepting the sender's feelings or not?

Roxanne nodded casually before sitting at her desk. Sensing her reluctance to discuss it, Colby suppressed his curiosity, nodding in agreement.
